    When you were young
You would sit in the backseat
    Those days are gone
Now you're on your own two feet
    But it's not that simple
Not as easy as it seems
    You're gonna need someone
    Someone like me
    So get in the car
    Get in the car
    Cause your mother told me
    To meet you right here
    I know it sounds crazy
    But it's true I swear
    You gotta be careful
These guys will eat you alive
    You gotta believe me
You're gonna want me by your side
    So get in the car
You could be bigger than Madonna
    Get in the car
    C'mon you know you wanna
    You're moving backwards
And you don't know what you're doing
So get in the backseat baby
Cause I'm the best thing you got going
    Don't you wanna make money
    Cause you're making a mistake
I'll let you ride in the front seat honey
Don't let the world find out what a coward you are
You should get in the car

Thank you for knocking me out with your song honoring Buffy Sainte-Marie cut live at KC bar the Tank Room. I also have loved your U. of Tube clip mix of Yes You Are blendt between clearly formative clips of Buffy Sainte-Marie and others with some exciting flow in your mix that ended up with the intro to your band Yes You Are. Wishing y'all much success, jest gettin' outta the house amid this Covid19 pandemic lockdown. I'd not been familiar with Francis & the Lights or this song "Get In the Car" which has that lovely Vonnegut-like sense of being 'unstuck in time' that gives this song a Billy Piilgrim in Slaughterhouse 5 sorta narrative feel. Your band's tight, clearly pre-pandemic grouping down in the basement gives this song the kind of intimate feel most of us around the whole wide affected and infected world are probably in withdrawal from lacking during these beyond surreal days of plague and social distancing quarantine.
As for your offer above to suggest songs for Yes You Are to consider covering, reading you describe your band's sound as black pop mighta had something to do with me thinking of a favorite discovery I found out about when some of her tracks played in a row over our local non-commercial Mt. Hood Community College jazz without boundaries FM station and I stayed in my car after getting to work early to start a grinding shift just thinking about what I'd just heard and vowing to track down her Made In Finland album titled THIS IS NICOLE WILLIS from 2017 which wasn't her debut album, just marking her shift from a band called the Soul Investigators to something new and different. Her tight and transgressive Finnish musical collaborators mesh so well with her own NYC downtown sensibilities and the song that stood out in my mind and still does is "Still Got A Way to Fall."
My first impression was that Nicole Willis was writing and singing about the crushing student debt that has either resulted in my young co-workers at an overworked Kroger online grocery ordering big box Pick Up service here in the PoTown, Ore area across the road from the disgusting Nike campus of off-shored privilege either not being able to finish college cuz of costs and the last 45 years of Wage Stag-Nation where especially millennials feel they can't get the kinda job experience that would let them get a job making more use of their skill sets. Or,, it has prevented other high school grads from even trying a college experience cuz they are priced out of 4-year schools and the community college method of getting pre-reqs done on the local cheap isn't as cheap as it used to be. Now with the Covid19 pandemic, none of us low-wage workers even feel there is any future horizon to aim for.
But your band sound such as it has impressed me from binge-ing on your U. of Tube clip mixes, your live gigs based around KC etc and now your description of your band sound on one of your clips suggests to me along with the current quarantine timeing that this particular Nicole Willis lyric and her band groove with her touch-sensitive Finnish band might be right up Yes You Are's alley (even if I haven't caught yer Super Bowl commercial or yet heard your debut album both of which I hope lead you to be able to hit the road and find your audience, cuz some of U.S. are already meeting youse half way).
Here's Nicole Willis with the bonus track that mesmerized me in my car before a work shift and ever since in the intervening bizarre Age of Trump and Surveillance Capitalism both of which are surreal to contemplate!!!! I thought this after the disillusioning 8 years of Obama-Biden and their cabinets of Wall Street Apex Predators after the Bush-Cheney-Paulson TARP bank bail-outs and now the 4 more years of T-Rump & his
cronyocracy, that like Nicole Willis and her post-Soul Investigators phase in productive exile in Finland (a nation that has somehow escaped cronyocracy, let's not jinx them) we've "Still Got A Way to Fall (before we and perhaps our crushing debt is forgiven"):

Cool! Great job! Off the top of my head, a cover of "The Bleeding Heart Show" by the New Pornographers would kick ass. :)
