Amazing how this area is - slowly - changing after the closure of the Staveley Works and all the railway lines and coal mines and is slowly emerging again with a new layout and uses but still good to see that some of the heritage is being remembered.
Great update. The work they've done to bring all that beautiful engineering brick back from vegetation has really paid off! The engraved bench and info boards looked good, as did the new one with workers and sponsors names. Glad they managed to source some original blue brick for the platform ends, and even one with the Hamblet stamp! There was a poignant passing shot of some fingerprints of a worker some 130yrs ago...then a beautiful Cinnabar moth flew through the shot at 8.05! Would be nice to see some women involved in the restoration, but it really is coming along well now.
I was trying to get that moth in shot for ages. It kept landing in front of but didnt want to stay on camera :) I'm glad you spotted it. Those finger prints are brilliant. According to Mark at the site, they are from when the bricks were made and there are a few examples of them across the site.
@WobblyRunner I record moths and butterflies for Butterfly Conservation, so I couldn't miss that gorgeous red and navy blue beauty! The fingerprints just connect you instantly with a moment. So cool.
I was watching a video the other day about Ramsgate Tunnels where they had turned a disused tunnel into a café. Seeing you have your tea on that round table gave me the idea! Thanks for uploadingl.

Hi Paul another fab update from Clowne. That bench was so cool, you would miss that engraving of the steam train if you didnt know it was there. The station is looking beautiful with everyone hard at work. Those volunteers are the best of british! How cool your name was on the plaque too Paul! Your name wobbly runner immortslised! ❤😊👍
Great video and update on 25th June. I passed through same day and saw the progress around 2pm, just one guy finishing left side platform coping edge, so possiby just missed you. Bike ride from Mansfield to Hollingwood Hub (bacon roll and coffee), down canal to Staveley Basin to check out progress on the TPT bridge, onwards to Poolsbrook then up the Clowne cycle way. Very hot and sunny day, several miles up the 1.5% gradient so I was thinking about a cool drink in Clowne but not knowing the area no idea where to go, Aldi and the nearby pub not appealing! That notice board should ideally feature a local map showing nearest cycle friendly cafes. My next option was Elm Tree at Elmton, but was closed (Tuesdays closed)! Finally refreshed in Langwith.
@@WobblyRunner Thanks for the tip about S80. on Mansfield Rd. Usually, I turn right up Elmton Rd after leaving Clowne Greenway (and navigating through the new housing estate). So would have missed S80!
I just checked my records; the last times I went through Clowne by railway were in April and September 1966. I sometimes pass through by road and must have a look at the station.

My late father was a evacuee in Clowne so this is of interest to me as I plan to visit Clown later this year for the first time.

Ahh yes I think I was long gone by 2pm. That's some ride. Try the S80 Sandwich Bar if you're in Creswell. Not sure what time it opens to though.

Was that actually a tunnel or was it originally just a bridge but has since been infilled at the far end?
It was a tunnel. Not a long one though. Probably only just long enough to be classed as a tunnel rather than a long bridge.
