👋 Our "Launch Your First App" program will help you build up your iOS skills to publish your very own feature rich app even if you’re a beginner starting from scratch. cwc.to/youtubeoffer
This video sets the bar for intro style coding videos. Chris doesn’t make a click or keystroke without explaining it, something every other RUclipsr needs to learn. So well done.
So, you know how to make the images he gives? Cuz a lot of coder RUclipsrs give you images to follow along, but so far, none teach you actually how to create those images and how big you need to make them, which is the whole point to making your Own apps and just not copy others.
You’re literally a savior. No joke. Programming may be the community that’s inherently open-source but you’re the teacher who is, and as a man who would love to make an app but doesn’t have much money at all right now to be ok with putting toward any new subscriptions, it really is appreciated all you do.
Most of these learning coding videos that I watched in the past start with a lot of explanations at first and then, when things get complicated, the explanations are insufficient for first time learners. Chris takes more and more time to explain things as they get more and more complex. He speaks clearly, slowly and repeat things many times. He goes deep inside the meaning of code labels. His visual aids are absolutely great. The efforts he put in his work shows. Many thanks for this excellent work, the best I have seen for a while.
This has been, by far, the best introductory class I have watched on SwiftUI. Chris does a great job explaining each concept and the reasoning behind it. Even after watching a half dozen other "beginner" videos, I felt like I learned more new information here than in the rest combined. I am definitely going to continue watching Chris's videos!
2 days ago I have no idea about iOS development but after watching your video I’ve cracked my Jr.iOS developer interview. Love from India. You’re awesome man.
Hey thanks for making this. I'm coming from a powerShell background trying to learn swift to be able to make a note app. You do an excellent job of explaining things as plainly as possible without leaving out any important details, but also without droning on too long. This is TOP TIER content!
I am an android developer and I gotta say that this is probably the best intro video into SwiftUI. This is really powerful and you made it very simple to understand.
Chris - I've watched thousands of dev videos over the years, and this is by far is the best quality and presentation. Everything is thoughtful and direct. Great work and thanks!
Hearing you encourage newcomers to practice coding and reminding them its ok to fail because you will learn and become better from it. There is a saying from the Mythbusters show that applies very well to software development. "Failure is always an option". I have been developing for almost 10 years now and STILL make mistakes. Nobody will ever know everything. Failure is good as long as you learn from it.
I'm using your tutorials to reinforce what I'm learning for a V.A. class that I'm taking on programming. YOU EXPLAIN EVERYTHING!!!! And that's what I need. I used a tutor from Canada to learn Solidworks in 2008 and was able to get Certified. There must be something in the water up North. Keep up the good work!!!!
I've been reluctant to move from Storyboards to SwiftUI because there was a lot that I didn't get. Thank you Chris, you've finally convinced me that SwiftUI is MUCH MUCH easier than I thought. I've used your tutorials in the past and learned so much from you. That's why I came to you to learn SwiftUI too. Wonderfully explained, very insightful video. Love it!
Great introduction to Swift UI and Swift in this course. I'm a senior engineer myself working with a few different stacks and currently building and maintaining features on our mobile app using React Native. After having finished this mini course and seeing the way you teach I've gone and bought your 3 month (and 4 months * great funnel BTW) to continue my learning. Great Job!
Just finished this Masterclass on 1 January, 2023. I loved and enjoyed every bit of it. Thank you, Chris! I've been using Storyboards for years and "looked down" on SwiftUI. Big mistake. This changes everything forever! I'm moving on the next series for SwiftUI. ❤ from a 🇳🇬n dev in 🇲🇺
Wow, thank you Chris. I can't believe the perfection of teaching you have aquired here. I'm on Day 4 and have learned so much, and it's so easy on the mind because of your teaching style. I really, really, really appreciate it!
You are a Legend, God-tier level teaching skills!!! I spend most of my free time learning new stuff and I have to say you are probably the most beginner-friendly teacher I've had on RUclips.
Super helpful video. You've really proven to your audience that you're a fantastic educator! It's high quality educational videos like these that really convince me that your course will be awesome as well.
Your comment made our day! Thank you so, so much, Zi! We will keep on getting better because you guys deserve only the best content and training. Have a great day, Zi! :-) -Arthur
You are an awesome Tutor Chris, Appreciate all that you have thought in these chapters. I really wish someone could also tutor on subjects like JS and React. You made swift look easy.
Thank you for the kind words! We do get A LOT of demand even for Android as apparently, there is nothing out there for Android with great quality.... we just can't be everywhere.... :( @AdrienVillez
Thank you for this course. I am newly retired. My background is software engineering in Linux, C++, Java, JavaScript (and TypeScript) and many other languages. My wife and I are new to the Apple ecosystem, having purchased MacBook Pros in December last year and iPhones at the same time (I used Android phones before). My first app will be a file manager for Mac that my wife will like. We both don't like Finder, especially my wife, so I am making a version that she likes. I know there are 3rd party apps that would probably do the job, but this will be a good learning experience for me.
Hey Chris, thanks for uploading this to RUclips. Even as someone who has previous experience in Matlab and Python I found this extremely helpful. I tell my friends about your channel and your programs on your website.
Just got out my junior year of college. Im a Computer Science Major with a minor in Information Tech. Ive watched one of your videos already and just... wow! Ive never been able to follow along as easily as I have been with you explaining things. It amazing how well you are able to break it down spell it out for us beginners. Personally I want to learn how to use Xcode for fun, and possibly create an app for a club I am in (in college). I think it would be really awesome personally (yes a nerd lol), but had no idea where to start. But I think ive found the person to help me on my journey. Thank you Chris! Im looking forward to watch this video and the many more you have!
Such a very heartwarming comment you have here, Collin! Thank you so, so much. Your kind words and support mean a lot. All the best to your projects; we're cheering for you! -Arthur

Chris, in my opinion you are fantastic teacher and person. It takes me 7 days to complete this course but it was pleasure. I spend with "you" almost every evening and i was actually happy to sit in front of the screen and gaining knowledge by you. I will also record video as you asked because that was FANTASTIC experience and i am happy that you were actually my first programming teacher. Just want to say: Thank you.
Wow, what a comment. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We wouldn't have made it this far if not for the support of such kind-hearted people like you. We sincerely appreciate your decision to learn with us. All the best, Szymon! :) -Arthur

I haven't watched one second of this video, but from the comments I can confidently state that it is by far the best-presented coding-instruction video ever devised.
Im here to learn coding again I fell in love with it in high school and stopped during covid due to lack of access to computer with ability to code on, Im going to college for coding, and want to make an app before college to get back into it and maybe make some money.
Ok, I'm not the target for this video as I am an experienced developer that is new to Swift / SwiftUi / xCode but I watched it just to get a feel for things. I haven't seen someone do such a good job teaching an into like this before. You clearly are a great instructor. Good job!
After being Flutter Developer from the last two years I wanted to expand my skill set and learn iOS. And After watching this amazing tutorial I am beginning to love iOS development. Amazing and well structured tutorials. Looking forward to learn a ton from chris.
One of the the most clearest explanation I have ever heard. The terms are explained in simple easy to understand words. Some books are too wordy..awful...I learn a lot. Great job
This has been a great tutorial, take it slowly and enjoy it - for a 59 yr old who has been out of the coding game for 20yrs and went into management, it's great to be learning to code again - and this is a fantastic inteactive tutorial.
Thank you Chris, excellent tutorial. You got me up and running within a day and I feel really comfortable with Swift unlike my other attempts to get into React Native, which was clunky and often would not work due to libraries and versions not working as expected. Swift looks like a really good language and overall development environment. As an old coder you instilled real confidence and understanding.
I was going to buy a Udemy course that would've taken forever to understand and complete. This is way better. Just bought your course. Thank you, Chris!
I've never used a Mac computer and have never done coding. I'm here to learn how to make a app because my friend needs an app built but none of my developer friends want to do it. So I'm a pre-newbie. I know NOTHING about macs or how to code. I just bought my first macbook pro and trying this to accomplish something that has taken many people years to learn. Wish me luck. :)
You got this, Dana! We're excited to see your transformative progress from being an absolute beginner to being a bonafide app developer. We're cheering for you! -Arthur
This is hands-down the best introduction I've ever done. I admittedly had some experience with Python and database management before taking this course, but as far as app building introductions go, this video has inspired and energized me to get back into app development. Thank you Chris!
Other tutorials don't go into such helpful detail, and with the challenges I feel I am genuinely learning. Not just copying and pasting a project. A+ Content
The closest I've ever come to coding was excel formulas, but this video made everything so easy to understand! Great starting point if you're interested in coding.
Hello Chris, Sorry a Great Sir-- First of all a great and tons of thanks for this complete session which I took in last 3 days and to be very honest I learned from scratch until I created your last challenge for Swift Slots and surprisingly I made it with little help from video and with complete lesson which you taught. I am already a Java Expert, so didn't find much time in grabbing some technical parts, but I didn't skipped the video for even a second and it was just awesome. Hats off to your effort, patience, clarity and at the end sweetness in your voice. I will now learn each and every video and at the end will become a pro like you. Again thanks and God bless you.
Hello Chris, Can you plese let me know when to choose Swift UI and when to choose Storyboard to start to build an application. I am very much confused in this two part.
A few weeks ago, I had an inspiration to create an iPhone app for fun, but I was a bit intimidated and didn't know where to start. I did have some beginner programming experience (Python) but was a bit overwhelmed at Xcode, Swift, SwifUI and what those actually mean. While watching this 3.5 hr class, I have to say, Chris explained the interface and the concepts so clearly and was very genuine. I followed the video thru the entire way, and was really excited that I can understand and can make good progress. It definitely gave me the confidence to start thinking about how to bring my app idea to reality. Thanks Chris! You are a great teacher!
Hi Chris Congratulations! I am following lots of your tutorial videos and watched full 3.5 hrs video. I appreciate your work of teaching and the way putting all nicely. After working on Swift UIKIT last 3 years and now SwiftUI, fighting myself.
i learned so much as a college student who already knows some coding. this taught me some of the basics that i just never grasped the thought process behind
Such a great job! Thank you for your efforts to make this course high-quality. It was the best beginner course I found - thank you and I really appreciate it
So, I have seen a lot of coding videos, but this one, uuu .... man this one is great, very clean and easy explanation. Congratulations, really, thank you for your job!
@AdrienVillez
Coming with web background (just junior) since I've been hooked on Hybrid Native app dev through my work with React Native. I feel like I'm learning TS with a few extra keywords lol. Im blown away how much faster (dev time for single platform only) SwiftUI is. Also very impressed with the integration with system stuff that devs can pull off of the OS (this is kinda the hard part for me) . Just learned the whole 3.5hr Masterclass in 2 days because it's just so consumable. Thanks a lot!
@@CodeWithChris Thanks for replying back on comment. If you can consider suggestions as well then do add video for different patterns mvc, mvvm, mvvm with coordinator, MVP, VIPER, FACTORY PATTERN, etc. I would have made videos on those, but i think me as developer and less of teacher/mentor. Although i have covered most of these mentioned. still it will be requirement of many of iOS Developers who want to grow there level of programming.
Nice course, I was curious about swift as I thought of getting into app development but even though I can program and know the concepts I felt like this video helped me to just chill back and let someone guide me without looking everything up myself. I definetly dont have that much time to spend to learn everything on my own wich is why I am thinking of buying your course, just have to see if it's affordable for me. Keep it up man!
for the guys who got in trouble in lesson 5 image background ignoresSafeArea 58.32 try this Zstack{ image("background") .resizable() .scaledToFill .clipped() .edgesIgnoringSafeArea([.top]) }
Thank you Chris so very much! Your step by step instructions and explanations where very helpful and I enjoyed this challenge. This is my first time trying xCode and Swift successfully. Thank you again! Regards, Peter
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This tutorial is so easy to understand and clear, thanks to your explanations. Such a wonderful video for beginners like me who want to learn Swift. Thank you!
Just in case somebody gets this error like I did when making the variables into the @State ones (2:47:02) "property wrappers are not yet supported on local properties" the variables need to be declared under the ContentView not the body
Why I'm here... I have 30 years of programming experience starting with Java, then C, C++, C# and a few others. And have had an iPhone for the last 16 years. But I have never had a Mac to pursue IOS, I recently bought a MacBook Air M2 and am very excited to expand my capabilities.
Awesome tutorial.I have been searching for good tutorial for long time but no one could explain it the way you could ,Keep up the good work. God bless!
ha ha ... the "naming convention" with lower case first, and succeeding upper case, in Lesson 6. I started using that programming in MacPascal in 1984-85.
I've learned so much about SWIFTUI via this video, useful info more than of Stanford UN of prof Paul Hagerty , for example StanforU use roundedrectangle ( no need Ztack) , here we use graphic for background and hence explanation of Zstack
Thanks for creating this. Though I do have to increase the speed a bit because I already know how to develop and just need a rundown of swift's syntax and semantics as well as how SwiftUI step by step development looks like on Xcode compared to Android's application development on Android Studio. I am very happy you also go over the shortcuts of the XCode Editor just so we can speed up our workflow. There seems to be a bit more UI for shortcuts, but I imagine I can look up and get familiar with keyboard shortcuts if it has them. Bought a mac air mainly for this because I want to become familiar with multiple areas of software development and didn't want to exclude Apple software. 👍
Hey Alex! Swift is a pretty easy language to learn, and if you have a pretty good foundation with other programming languages, I think you can go through the SwiftUI tutorial video just fine. You can give it a try, watch a few minutes or so, just to gauge whether you can understand it without going through the Swift tutorial first. But if you want to go through the Swift tutorial first, you can start here ruclips.net/video/FcsY1YPBwzQ/видео.html. :) Hope this helps! - Pat
Strongly recommend all the new learners to watch this video thoroughly twice or even more times, you will learn more things than the first time, because you have already had some basic sense after your first time study, then at the second time view/study, you will find it easier to understand and learn more things you may missed at the first time view. 😄

Thanks for coming back, Josh! You'll have a rewarding learning journey ahead! :-) -Arthur
Ok, I'm not the target for this video as I am an experienced developer that is new to Swift / SwiftUi / xCode but I watched it just to get a feel for things. I haven't seen someone do such a good job teaching an into like this before. You clearly are a great instructor. Good job!
Thank you for the kind words!!! - Pat
This is amazing. Do you have a longer course? I would gladely pay for it.
We have CWC+. Visit our website for more details! :-) -Arthur
After being Flutter Developer from the last two years I wanted to expand my skill set and learn iOS.
And
After watching this amazing tutorial I am beginning to love iOS development.
Amazing and well structured tutorials.
Looking forward to learn a ton from chris.
Thank you for the kind words! And thanks for learning with us! :) - Pat
One of the the most clearest explanation I have ever heard. The terms are explained in simple easy to understand words. Some books are too wordy..awful...I learn a lot. Great job
Thank you for the kind words :) - Pat
This has been a great tutorial, take it slowly and enjoy it - for a 59 yr old who has been out of the coding game for 20yrs and went into management, it's great to be learning to code again - and this is a fantastic inteactive tutorial.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for learning with us! - Iñaki
Your comment made our day. Thank you so so much for learning with us! :) -Arthur
I was going to buy a Udemy course that would've taken forever to understand and complete. This is way better. Just bought your course. Thank you, Chris!
Awesome! Thank you for learning with us! - Pat
Thank you so, so much, Joshua! Your kindness motivates us even more! :) -Arthur
Other tutorials don't go into such helpful detail, and with the challenges I feel I am genuinely learning. Not just copying and pasting a project. A+ Content
Appreciate this, Trevor! Thank you! -Arthur
The closest I've ever come to coding was excel formulas, but this video made everything so easy to understand! Great starting point if you're interested in coding.
Thanks for the kind words! :) - Pat
Wow thank you so much for the kind words! We're excited for your iOS journey! :) - Pat
Hello Chris,
Can you plese let me know when to choose Swift UI and when to choose Storyboard to start to build an application. I am very much confused in this two part.
I can't thank you enough, the quality of this course is beyond perfection. You're the best sensei
Shukran, arigato! Your kindness truly made our day! -Arthur
I absolutely LOVE this guy. I am not a person who leaves comments like ever, but this guys deserves it! Thank you for everything man, you are epic fs
We LOVE you more, John! Thank you so, so much for your heartwarming comment. It truly made our day! -Arthur
Thanks for taking the time to comment! And thanks for learning with us!
We wish you all the best
--Joash

We love to hear that!!!
@AdrienVillez
So, I have seen a lot of coding videos, but this one, uuu .... man this one is great, very clean and easy explanation. Congratulations, really, thank you for your job!
Thank you so, so much! Your kind words mean a lot! -Arthur
@AdrienVillez
I love the Xcode environment, it's super easy to use. Especially because it has so many frameworks, already integrated.
Great insights! Thanks for sharing them. :) -Arthur
I was looking for a video to help me with xCode and Swift. This is what I was looking for. Thank you so much Chris for this video - appreciate it!
Glad it helped! - Pat
I saved this from a few months ago and now I'm going through the entire thing. Thank you. Needed a hobby :)
All the best! Thanks for learning with us! -Arthur
Searched far and wide to find a good sensei for learning Xcode/Swift. This is fantastic!
Thank you so so much, Darren! Glad to know that you are learning with us. Domo arigato! :) -Arthur
Impressive! Thank you so much for learning with us! -Arthur
I love this, and it is very good for a beginner (non programmer) to understand how to build an app.
Thanks for your awesome feedback! It made our day! -Arthur
SWIFT UI - explained in BEST and SIMPLEST way possible. Just Loved It.
Thank you for watching and for the kind words!! Appreciate it! - Pat
Yay, check out our CWC+ to see if it's gonna help you achieve your goals. Hope to see you there! :-) -Arthur
for the guys who got in trouble in lesson 5
image background ignoresSafeArea 58.32
try this
Zstack{
image("background")
.resizable()
.scaledToFill
.clipped()
.edgesIgnoringSafeArea([.top])
}
Thanks for being so helpful! :-) -Arthur
Thank you sir!
Thank you Chris so very much!
Your step by step instructions and explanations where very helpful and I enjoyed this challenge.
This is my first time trying xCode and Swift successfully.
Thank you again!

Peter
This is great to know. Thanks for making our day! :-) -Arthur
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This tutorial is so easy to understand and clear, thanks to your explanations. Such a wonderful video for beginners like me who want to learn Swift. Thank you!

Okayy... This is better than any swift tutorial for beginners out there... So clear and detailed informations
Awesome, Jason! Thanks for learning with us! -Arthur
I've never made a comment in a youtube video, but you sir definitely deserve it. Thank you so much!
This is so humbling. Thank you so, so much, Llyne! We appreciate you being here! :) -Arthur
Just in case somebody gets this error like I did when making the variables into the @State ones (2:47:02) "property wrappers are not yet supported on local properties" the variables need to be declared under the ContentView not the body
Thanks for helping; we appreciate it! :-) -Arthur
Why I'm here... I have 30 years of programming experience starting with Java, then C, C++, C# and a few others. And have had an iPhone for the last 16 years. But I have never had a Mac to pursue IOS, I recently bought a MacBook Air M2 and am very excited to expand my capabilities.
We're sure you're going to enjoy the journey! Good luck! - Pat
The most structured and detailed tutorial i ca across until now. Thank you very much!
You're very welcome! - Pat

Hello Chris, thank you for taking the time to dig into and explain the details! You Rock Sir!
This comment made our day. Thank you! -Arthur
ha ha ... the "naming convention" with lower case first, and succeeding upper case, in Lesson 6. I started using that programming in MacPascal in 1984-85.
I been a back end software engineer for 6 years and I have always wanted to be a mobile developer
Now's the time to achieve that goal. You got this! Learn with us: codewithchris.com/start -Arthur
I've learned so much about SWIFTUI via this video, useful info more than of Stanford UN of prof Paul Hagerty , for example StanforU use roundedrectangle ( no need Ztack) , here we use graphic for background and hence explanation of Zstack
Cheers, thanks for learning with us! :-) -Arthur
everytime he said *war card* I understood *work hard* 💀💀
great introduction to SwiftUI, thanks!
lol thank you for watching! :) - Pat
Glad it was helpful! - Pat
should I learn this as someone who has never coded in swift or I should learn the swift tutorial first then come back to this swift ui tutorial?
- Pat
@@CodeWithChris thx!
Strongly recommend all the new learners to watch this video thoroughly twice or even more times, you will learn more things than the first time, because you have already had some basic sense after your first time study, then at the second time view/study, you will find it easier to understand and learn more things you may missed at the first time view. 😄
Good recommendation! - Pat
