Thank you for taking all the time to drill the board and create a very clear physical setup. It is very rare. Most people simply plug things in and have wires draped everywhere, no script, no previous practice.
I just found your film and would like to thank you for explaining how to set up the NCE interface, I am using a powercab and my this will be my next step.
I have Power Pro, over a year now but only just had the courage to attempt the laptop connection. I have a straight 9 pin plug into the NCE controller and via a cable adapter to a usb into the laptop. No decoder between the two. The laptop downloaded the driver, opened panel pro, throttle recognised, no problem. Now for the point decoder. Wish me luck
Detroit River Railroad Hi Michael, I'm having problems interpreting the jumper pins. Does your solution above apply to a Power Cab v1.65 with a v6 usb adapter, or is it for v7 only? Its just I'm using a Power Cab v1.65 with a v6 usb adapter by the look of it. Thanks.
Darryl Griffiths Hi Darryl, when I made this video the powercab version was v1.28c so the jumper setting was for that version. For v1.65 try jumper2-off jumper3-on jumper4-on baun rate 19200 , see if that works. send me a message if that doesn't work.
Detroit River Railroad Hi Michael, thanks for that. Unfortunately, that didn't work, so I set them all to off like yours and all seems to be working. I found a useful site all about the adapter: sites.google.com/site/markgurries/home/nce-info/nce-usb-limitations, but sadly there is no mention of the pin config when using a later power cab with a version 6 adapter. I have also emailed NCE, as you can apparently get your adapter updated, but they have not got back to me.
@trackspike64 Hi, I will take it that you have the NCE powercab. The order in which you turn everything on is important. First turn on the powercab and wait till you get track power, then plug in the USB cable to your computer, windows will download the USB driver you need. Now fire up JMRI decoder pro, the first time you start this program it will take you to the preferences, if not use the top pull down menu to set the preferences. You should now have computer access. Good luck Michael
I have the inter face and have down loaded the software but when i hook it up nothing works can you help me I need to know exactly how to hook up the inter face up

The LED's on the USB interface only turn on when data is transferred and that would be a blinking action. They do not stay on all of the time.
Thanks for the great ideal to use motherboard standoffs to mount the USB interface.
Thanks very useful. I love the Aussie bird noises in the background!
The USB interface was made for NCE equipment, you might have problems with other brands

Should the jumpers also all be removed for Power Cab version 1.65? Thanks. ...Roy
Hi Roy , version 1.65 should be jumper2-off jumper3-on jumper4-on for a baun rate 19200

Nice video.. can I plug the USB interface to the back plug of the pcp panel? Thanks
Yes I believe you can
@@DetroitRiverRailroad I just try it and it works.. thanks for your reply 👍🤝
Hi great video, which cable did you use from nce jack to usb board?
spacecalander hi, you need a 4P plug , check out my video on wiring up this plug
The jumpers do not need to come completely off. I store mine using only one side of the connector.
That's a good idea
do you have to use the power cab with this?
