For getting the Joker’s Death achievement on FFVI you can actually use the pause buffering technique to get triple 7’s.
It is very difficult and nowhere near as easy as the SNES version, but I completed FFVI a couple of weeks ago and used this method.
Un-pausing with A or Cross, and re-pausing with start lets you move frame perfectly once you get used to it. Each slot has a different set of symbols and moves at different speeds. I can’t remember the exact places to unpause but I basically went through each slot, wrote down all the symbols and experimented with the best time to stop at. Once I had a plan I just used pause buffering to get to the right part of the slot, then un-paused and stopped the slots.
It took me about an hour or so from start to finish, including writing everything down. Definitely a bit of a pain but it was a lot better than just waiting for the RNG to give me a good result.
    Great video btw!

I currently have plats for 7R, 7CCR, X, X-2, XII:TZA, XIII, XIII-2, LR, XV, XVI, Type-0, TFBL, and working on the one for SoP:FFO. Might someday go back to I-IX.
WoFF is one I quit on because the mini-games are SOOOOOOO bad, on top of the extreme tedium.
X, XIII and XVI were ones where the platinum grind negatively affected my enjoyment of the game because of the tedium. X-2 Final Mission maybe a little as well.
7R, XIII-2 and XII:TZA I'd say improved my enjoyment of them. 7R Hard Mode and XII:TZA Trials were challenging yet fun. XIII-2's endings are all interesting and worth seeing.

dodging 200 lightning bolts isn't too difficult once if you know where the sweet spot on the map to trigger a guaranteed lightning strike is.
The Chocobo racing minigame however is downright just designed wrong. Had me up till 3:00AM with those jank ass hitboxes, RNG, and camera angle transitions that mess up your directional inputs. Whoever designed that needs to be banished to tend to the fields on the moons of Jupiter.

Little correction to the Treasure Hunter from XIII.
You don't have to have all of the items in your inventory at once, when you are sure you have upgraded an item to its final form and don't need it you can sell it. As long as you have held every single unique weapon and accessory in your inventory at some point on your playthrough it's enough. (There are some really handy checklists out there for tracking this). Also the trophy only requires weapons and accessories, other items are not needed.
And it's only missable if you go selling your one time items before upgrading them (if my memory serves me), as long as you upgrade everything before selling them it shouldn't be missable.

    • @Joesephyr
      @Joesephyr  8 месяцев назад

Thats great to hear, thank you for the clarification!

    • @groudonvert7286
      @groudonvert7286 5 месяцев назад

To add a bit, you can sell everything in the game without problem, every weapons can be purchased in shops, most equipments can be bought in shops or are unique items found in unmissable chests or mission rewards.
You can sell everything BUT the Elemental Charms. If you sold the Elemental rings, dismantling the Elemental Charms will give you the basic Rings (only equipments you have to upgrade that can't be bought in any shop).
For the other trophies, not getting 5 stars immediately can be extremely tedious to do again, because the early missions have tight objectiv battle time (it's based on yhow advanced you are in Crystarium and Equipments upgrade), making them much harder to 5 stars in post-game.
The Turtle success is not about Adamantoise, who are indeed weak to death, but about Long Gui, one of 13's Superbosses. This turtle is immune to Death.
And if I can recommend a guide for Plat 13, I recommend to follow the plat% speedrun guide. One of the reason being the speedrunners route the run so you Basically finish all tedious trophies at the same time (Treasure Hunter and the Crystarium).

Generally, I really like it when RPG games have no missible items or decisions. That’s why I really like the chapter system from Remake/Rebirth.
Playing a 30-40 hour RPG only to find you’ve missed something and if you want to get a platinum you need to spend another 20 hours just to get it is a total pain.
Not too long ago I played Trails in the Sky FC on Steam and wanted to get all the achievements without looking anything up. I ended up missing one item I needed and since the game doesn’t let you go back and revisit old towns I had to replay almost the full game again in order to get it.
In general I don’t really like guides as I like to explore the game myself, but after that I tend to use a missables guide just so I make sure I don’t miss out on something important.

As someone who is trying to complete both of the FF14 trophy lists I completely agree with your rating of "ULTIMA" for both lists. It is a great game and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves MMOs and FF. Especially since they extended the free trial to Stormblood.
While it is easy to get most of the PS4 trophies it takes some time to get through the story of ARR (if you're not skipping cutscenes) and has two trophies that make it such a huge grind:
    - "An Adventurer's Life" for completing 1000 levequests. The trophy takes almost 6 months due to the limited amount of allowances you need to start the quests.
    - "Destiny's" for completing 1000 FATEs. Fates aren't difficult but doing 1000 of them is just really time consuming and in my opinion really boring. It's the last trophy I need on PS4 and I'm currently only at 464.
The PS5 platinum trophy is much more time consuming. It requires the completion of the main story up to the end of the post Shadowbringer quests which alone takes a few hundred hours. For some reason they decided to raise the requirement to 3000 FATEs and added trophies for crafting 5000 (I'm currently at 300) and gathering 8000 collectables (currently at 603). It doesn't make the platinum hard or fun just mind numbingly tedious.
I have earned 127 out of 159 trophies and wouldn't recommend going for the 100% of the PS5 list to anyone who values their time and sanity 😆. Some trophies are really grindy (344 triple triad cards, island sanctuary, catch 1460 unique fish, leveling all characters in the trust system to 90 etc.), some are luck based (reaching the end of both treasure map dungeons) and some are really difficult (savage raids, criterion dungeons, clearing all 3 deep dungeons solo etc).
Ultimate raids are luckily not a part of the trophy list yet but trophies based on ultimate don't seem unlikely anymore since they added trophies for comleting the deep dungeons solo.
Sorry for the long comment. I'm just really passionate about FF14 and trophy hunting 😅

      @Joesephyr  8 месяцев назад

Never apologise for a long comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video enough to speak up so much on the subject!
I'm super close to the PS5 one, I've got all the collectibles, it's just the FATEs left to go now, and I haven't loaded it up on PS4 in quite a while, so I'll have to see if they'll retroactively pop for me, as I know I've done the leves (thank you Coffee Biscuits back in ShB!), but that was what stopped me with PS5!

I think I'd originally planned to get every FF Plat before 7 Remake came out, but ended up not bothering as WOFF and XIV would have been a part of that. Certainly a bunch more out now as well!
Agreed on X & X-2, I think the only reason I was even able to manage those was because I didn't have a full time job at the time lol.
I don't think I agree on Type-0 though, it's been years since I played it but I recall it being quite easy and very quick. One thing to note on that is that the Plat doesn't actually require you to complete anywhere near as much content as the game actually has. I looked up some of the other content and yeah, if you did need to fully complete everything in that game it'd be a nightmare.
I haven't actually played an FF in a while, but man if they do finally drop XIII remasters I'd be jumping on that before anything else. I enjoyed every moment of getting all 3 of those plattys.

I’ve never earned a Platinum Trophy, I think the closest I got was in Tekken 5 or 6, the only thing I was missing was beating some sort of optional giant robot thing on a hard difficulty. I’ve only recently started caring about the achievements, or at least checking for them. They’re so baked into the landscape of gaming that even “gamified” stuff has achievements like computers and certain work environments.
I finally started the FF14 trial by the way, I’m already 70 with my black mage after like 3 weeks. It’s more addicting than morphine and speed.
2:00, ooh I do remember agonizing over missing some chests in the FF Origins version for 2. Some are in fact missable. X-2 has gotta be HARD, I remember my sister and I spending hours upon hours on just the various side quests alone WITHOUT trophies.

Rebirth’s plat does ask a lot of you, but the difficulty/time requirement is overhyped. I see alotta people saying it takes like 200 hours. Maybe, if you don’t have thumbs. I got the plat a couple weeks ago and my final time was 124 hours (which is still a lot don’t get me wrong). I’m not a super gamer or anything either. I got lost, stuck on certain parts in hard mode, I died on the challenges quite a bit, etc. It’s difficult, but it’s not THAT difficult. I definitely have done much harder plats.

I don't know how I missed something on chapter 3. I used a guide, read back over it, but no. Kept me from getting one of the break limit gear items and killed the motivation to continue. Maybe one day. I'm surprised to see you rank FFX so high; I find it more of a time commitment than a difficulty skill check.

I did the 1,000 jumps on Jump Rope as a kid (as my mate LIED to me and claimed you would get a rare weapon, I didn’t forgive him for several weeks because of that). Anyway….i did that once and only once. When it came to the PS4 FF9, I was having none of it and used that remote play thing to just cheese it (as a majority of people did). There was no way I was going through that hell again lol….
I don’t know what they were thinking with 9’s trophy list. 10,000 enemies, every ATE (though I ended up seeing some scenes I’d never seen before so I liked that), all chests and the card game…I can manage all that. But the Jump Rope can die in a fire.
FFX’s I don’t find nearly as bad, though some parts of it are just tedious (and I made it worse for myself as I wanted 255 luck and 99,999 HP with everyone).
I still wish the Pixel Remasters had the GBA extra dungeons and content. I know a lot of people aren’t that fond of them, but I actually liked the extra parts of 5 and 6.
Edit: And absolutely agree with Crisis Core being boring to platinum.

The difference between the PS4 and PS5 FFXIV platinums is crazy.
I've got the PS4 platinum and found it a nice challenge, but the grinds required to get the PS5 plat is so much more. The trophies for 3000 fates and 8000 gathering collectibles are probably the biggest walls for me. Slowly getting there with fates as I always need them for something else, but gathering collectibles is a mamoth task; I don't think I'm even near close to those.

I personally wouldn’t put FFX in the S tier of difficulty. It’s more of a grind than actually difficult. If you take into account that you’re going to obtain the ultimate weapons and the monster arena anyways as a standard play through then the rest is just grinding out the sphere grid.

Chocobo dungeon being taken of ps+ also killed my run, i was maybe 40% through it lol

The Tierlist is pretty solid! There are just 1 or 2 title I would move up or down, but this is just a point of view.
I would put FF IX it into the hard Tier, because except that horrible rope jumping minigame, nothing is really challenging into it.
And I would put World of Final Fantasy and Type-O into moderate Tier. WWoF the only thing that really sucked was that board game to play to get the mirage and Type-0 basicly doesn't ask you to go through everything in the game. I really don't like that game and I was pretty happy when I got that Platinum, but I'm sure if they asked more to do, I would defintily out it into hard tier too.
Note for FFX-2: The game has to be done in 2 playthrough, just because there are mandatory missables with which side you want to go (with or against Neo-Yevon)
I'm very interessted into going to platinum Dissidia NT. I have to play it again, because I only played it when it got released and I haven't even finished the story mode.

I think the sphere grid one mostly comes naturally with a few hour grind at the end in which you can fill up the other character's grids with anything using Clear Spheres to wipe out stat spheres you cbf grinding for. Magic Defence spheres are the easiest to grind for this purpose. It's completely pointless though in gameplay terms, and it's still a 100 hour plat which was mostly for me monster RNG. It did teach me to never leave the hardest trophies to last when hunting other games; oftentimes I would do that with other games and it just becomes a psychological barrier more than anything.
With the lightning one there is a spot that consistently spawns it and once you get the rhythm down it just becomes a mental thing. I think it's better to just not count them and wait until you fuck up. I think I had over 100 more than needed but I didn't really care.
X-2 is horrible if like me you're trying for the perfect run in a single playthrough. I got about 30 hours in before realising I screwed up one of the camera bits and then saved. It's not TOO bad if you just go through NG+ a bit but me being me that destroyed all motivation I had to continue. It's not surprising that you still only hit 99% while following a guide; I was following a couple purely due to how inconsistent they were.
In my opinion though I feel like if I can plat X then anyone can. I'd probably put it at the second highest tier and I feel like the only game that belongs up there is IX. There's just no boosting your way out of the skipping rope.
I've done 1-3 of the Pixel Remasters so far and even without the boosts they're pretty easy (I did turn movement speed up though).
XII is my favourite game in the series yet I've still put off finishing the platinum trophy for years due to the bloody Quickening one which if you know how that works you'll understand. It was a lazy list in general as they mostly just transplanted the Sky Pirate's Den into the list to the point where they initially removed it from the game entirely (they patched it back later after fan outcry). The last few floors of Trial Mode are pretty bad too.
I've done XIII-2 twice on PS3 and Xbox. If there was a spot between Easy and Moderate I'd put it there. It's FAR easier than XIII is but there's still some annoyances like the slots and clocks.
Lightning Returns can be done on the easiest difficulty which completely removes the main gameplay gimmick as a factor. I would imagine if they did remaster them they'd add the costumes in as standard. I'm pretty sure I got that game later and I still got those costumes.
XV is one of the easiest in the series as you basically can't die in the main game. It's just a bit of a timesink but so are the other games aside from the pixel ones. 100% though is another matter entirely and is now impossible due to them migrating the Comrades servers to the standalone. The DLC superbosses are also quite hard as you can't just load up on healing items to beat them. I'd say Pocket Edition is harder due to a couple of contextual trophies.
Type-0 is also fairly easy. Like Persona the time limit is only moved along with certain actions and there's nothing that really makes you go out of your way. It's almost disappointing that it doesn't make you see everything the game has to offer as there's a lot of NG+ stuff in the game.
The worst part of Crisis Core is leveling up the DMW which is just leaving the game running on an easy encounter. I'm a fan of the game and in terms of a remaster/remake it's one of the best/most faithful I've played but the missions can get tedious and a lot of them will just be done at the final save point.
World of Final Fantasy is pretty tedious, especially seeing as they locked the treasure chest tracker behind DLC and didn't add trophies to DLC when they did for the Xbox version.
