That's a good point about doing the more physically demanding trips early, while you are still able. I was on a trip to India in the 80s, and a 91-year-old gentleman traveling without a companion seriously slowed everyone down everywhere we went. He was a sweetie, but was SO frustrating. More recently, I saw an admonition on a tour site that participants are responsible for bringing an assistant or companion if they have physical limitations that will slow the group down.
Hey! Thanks for the comment and for coming along with us!! We for sure are focused on scheduling the more demanding trips sooner. It’s better for us and others. It’s unfortunate to see and hear about folks struggling out there. We figure there will always be places to go and things to do, so we’ll plan to slow down (hopefully slowly) over time to match our skills and energy, and recommend it to others. Takes a long-term plan but worth it to us.
Hey!! Thanks so much for the good words! It means so much to us:). Wishing you a wonderful 2024! Really happy you’re coming along with us!!:). Happy new year!
Hey, Erin! Thanks much as always:). We so far rarely drive but likely will start soon in selective locations. We hate to drive, even at home, but it limits what you can do outside major cities. Europe has great trains, which we use, but we think we will be doing a combination of trains, tours with transportation, and some driving. We are getting our international drivers licenses as we speak. We are generally comfortable, and use credit cards to insure the car against our potential mishaps, but parking and dealing with a car isn’t our favorite. That said, the adventure looks like it is worth it as we travel to places beyond major cities. What about you?!
