Let's appreciate that SE went the extra mile to make these SaGa remasters feel like the definitive way to play these games. Unlike those Star Ocean remasters where they do the barest minimum.
I ordered it through the link right away. This was my favorite game as a kid. Hearing the minstrel tell all his stories just touched me in a different way
You should check out Steambot Chronicles if you have a PC bcz PS2 Version costs around 300$ and up. Its a Rpg where you ride a huge Robot that is very customizable, you can change the colour, weapons, stickers etc. You can do transportation errands, fight in the Arena and climb the Ranks, there are some Music/Rythm mini Games, you can drill out Fossils, clean them and collect them for a Museum, theres a Rogue like dungeon later where you get ancient artifacts also for the Museum. The world is super huge and the Story changes depending on your Speech options that you have choosen. Plus it has multiple Endings! Its my fav PS2 Rpg together with Jade Cocoon 2, Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud.
I understand that you're not that interested in the battle systems etc. but it'd be helpful if you at least give a brief overview of it. I think it's especially worth explaining for JRPGs since they often live and die by their battle systems
I've been waiting for this review and for the release of SaGa Frontier 2. I've been collecting them but I feel like I'd need to use a guide for some of them lol. It's just the fact they're designed in such a way that I find intriguing.
This game was so bland and uninteresting to me but I forced myself to at least do a complete playthrough with Albert. Don't know what happened but 8 playthroughs later, this is probably my favorite now as well. There were so many mechanics I was just unaware of but slowly learned more and more with subsequent playthroughs.
I loved this game on PS2 and I'm super excited to play again. I forgot NPCs tell you about places which open it up, now I'm sure playing this helped me with The Last Remnant which I was hesitant to even try at first.
I played this game almost 20 years ago now. Must of took 8 or 9 playthroughs to get the full story. It was great then, saw it on sale as a remaster & bought for nostalgia.
🥄🥄🥄 that spoony bard! I think I'm gonna import this at some point. I'm holding back for Crisis Core. I wanna see reviews for that before I jump on either this or Crisis Core.
Thank you for the great non-spoiler review Jordan! I have this on pre order with some other things as I mention in a comment on another video and am looking forward to it! 🥄
SaGa Frontier is super solid and a great place to start... Romancing SaGa 3 is the one that made me fall in love with SaGa games long before Frontier though
I'd like to recommend some more modern representives: SaGa Scarlet Grace has one of the best combat systems I know. The Alliance Alive HD Remastered is a SaGa game at heart and has rich gameplay mechanics. The combat isn't as punishing as in Scarlet Grace and finally The Last Remnant, a SaGa game in everything but the name. The game is still strikingly looking (Square) and has a very interesting squad based combat system.
Ugh. Another SE minimal remake- this cash grab trend by SE is sad. This game has so many things that could have tweaked with and added to it to make it a great game but no they gave us speed up options. Wow. I wish I didn't buy it honestly. 2.5... That goes for crono cross and the ff pixel remasters I've bought too. Last time I buy one of these remakes...
Please learn the definition of what a „remake“ is. Nobody labels this game as a remake because it isn’t. Get your facts and expectations straight, buddy ;)
Honestly, at first I was wishing that it would be another Super Famicom port like 2 and 3, and of me still wished thag it was, but after watching this review my opinion has changed a bit. It's not as bad as I thought..It's been a while since I picked up anything from PA but this will be something I will definitely grab 🥄🥄🥄🥄
Everyone but Jordan and I have those billy IKEA closets for their games. We just stack them in some furniture. :D There is no 🥄 btw. Ah on topic this game looks better than I expected. Should be a good one then.
mfw I play video games for the story, not only that you bash the game for having a myriad of gameplay mechanics that open you up to variability. You say it stretches itself thin because you don't want to sit down to understand it. go read a book

This romancing saga seem kind of game plus brought the other ones as well. Great review 🥄
Let's appreciate that SE went the extra mile to make these SaGa remasters feel like the definitive way to play these games. Unlike those Star Ocean remasters where they do the barest minimum.
Star Ocean remasters still good for people who never played them, originals are rare and expensive too.
different teams working on it
Only played the first star ocean which was remaster on switch. I really enjoyed it
I ordered it through the link right away.
This was my favorite game as a kid. Hearing the minstrel tell all his stories just touched me in a different way
Thanks a lot! Appreciate the support.
This is in my top 3 favorite games, up there with Final Fantasy 6 and Baldur's Gate 2.

As a fan of Octopath traveler, I will definitely try this out!
One thing I instantly like about this game just starting it is it’s like a JRPG/DND game where they actually kept some actual DND tropes.
I've been waiting for this review and for the release of SaGa Frontier 2. I've been collecting them but I feel like I'd need to use a guide for some of them lol. It's just the fact they're designed in such a way that I find intriguing.
I hope Frontier 2 comes next year
This is one of my favorite jrpgs of all time. I remember being so excited when it came out on ps2. Can't wait to dive into it once again!

I'd love a physical of Last Remnant!
You actually managed to make me laugh out loud a few times in this review. Hilarious!🤣
never played a saga game before but looks cool
I played this game almost 20 years ago now. Must of took 8 or 9 playthroughs to get the full story.
It was great then, saw it on sale as a remaster & bought for nostalgia.
Every time I've tried using playasia it refuses my payment. Tried paying with a Visa and it gets refused. Wtf!!!
thanks for the revieuw gonna skip this being unable to recruit most charackters is gonna drive me insane
Am I the only one that adores the character stylization?
Love the battle system of this game
🥄 Thanks Jordan, loved the review
🥄🥄🥄 that spoony bard! I think I'm gonna import this at some point. I'm holding back for Crisis Core. I wanna see reviews for that before I jump on either this or Crisis Core.
🥄 another good review and this haze been on my radar as soon as it was announced
I can't wait for the play-asia version :)
Great video. Long live to turn-based RPGs
Thank you for the great non-spoiler review Jordan! I have this on pre order with some other things as I mention in a comment on another video and am looking forward to it! 🥄
thanks for the review
🥄 Being a jrpg fan I'm surprised to say I'm not feeling it think the odd visuals have put me off. 🤷♂️
i LOVED this game on the ps2!!!
I loved romancing saga 2 and 3. Is this a must play for me?
🥄 Very nice review!
Thanks a lot! 🥄
The next time I'm asked to describe a JRPG I'm going to say it's the kind of game where you can have weird crushes on stumpy belly dancers 😂
I’m happily buying and playing all these Asia/English Saga games. Hopefully Unlimited Saga will follow after Frontier 2 🤞
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Im thinking this is a good game for me. I like these kinds of games!
I misread the title for menstrual song 😄😄😄...sorry.
So this octapath travelers with a little suikoden WAY!! before they ever existed
Kind of. But it's not as interesting as either of those two.
Awesome. Who needs a story. Thats skyrim in a nutshell. We love it because you can do what u want. Main Story was meh. Have to get it on switch.
...lol
As someone who has never played a Saga game, which is the best one?
I like SaGa Frontier the most.
SaGa Frontier is super solid and a great place to start... Romancing SaGa 3 is the one that made me fall in love with SaGa games long before Frontier though

What Hippie said... Alliance Alive, while not a SaGa game technically is a good place to get a feel for what SaGa games can have plus its a great game
Thank you guys, appreciated!
🥄 Great review 😊😊
Is this game hard? I had a bad time with SaGa 2 on the Xbox
Not really. Especially now with the autosave.
Always appreciate these remasters, even if they might not be my cup of tea. 🥄🥄🥄
Square should bring back "Secret of Evermore"
All I want to know is if there is Japanese voice-acting?!
SaGa not Saga... Why though?
because Japan.
Haha because square enix. Them and their naming conventions.
Spooooooooooon!!! 🥄
Nice review., 🥄
Hi Jordan!
Hello!
🥄 You should add the link for VGP for us Canadians. Thanks for the heads up on the Soundtrack!
🥣 Schrodinger's Spoon
Are YOU the Spoony RUclipsr? 🥄
I am not the Spoony One. But I hope to be that legendary one day
I’m the complete opposite, gameplay over story all day for me lol if I wanted a good story I’d watch a movie or read a book
Depends on the genre
and if i wanted to fight monsters id step outside
Books sure, but games destroy movies as a storytelling medium. It's not even close.
I want to enjoy it... but it's 30 FPS like 90% of the game. Come on Squenix...
Play order of JRPG series baffles me.

🥄y bard.
🥄 🎻
why dont they just reboot the franchise with modern engine lol.
I would like to know if there is a worst looking game on the switch... Everything about this game looks absolutely HORRIBLE!
I totally disagree with you when you say there's very little story also a lot of the side stories are actually directly connected to the main story
I really dislike the faces
🥄🥄🥄
🥄
o
It’s hot garbage like most Saga games.
But this one takes the cake. Oh no, wait, that’d be Unlimited Saga on PS2.
Ok, casual boon.
Ah yes, the “casual” because he doesn’t agree with a game you like.🤦🏻♂️
Honestly, at first I was wishing that it would be another Super Famicom port like 2 and 3, and of me still wished thag it was, but after watching this review my opinion has changed a bit. 🥄 I might check this spoony game out 🥄
Fascinating info..I might check this out on the eShop if I have time. 🥄🥄🥄🥄🥄🥄
i was thinkin about buyin this game for my switch oled since the character too cartoonish im gonna pass and im gonna wait for it to go on sale
games AMAZING
Everyone but Jordan and I have those billy IKEA closets for their games. We just stack them in some furniture. :D There is no 🥄 btw.

With that kind of sentence structure, you could also do with a book or two.
🥄 I'm definitely adding this to my list.
🥄
Dang this game is ugly. 🥄
Thank you for the review and the code. 🥄
Great review! 🥄 🥄 🥄
Thanks for watching 😊 🥄
