    Came for you Fuji reviewed, stayed for the ECM overview. I also have an E-61 machine from around 2002... still have it, works great!

      That’s good to hear that the E-61 are built to last. Direct plumbing the drain pan was a game changer. No more overflows and no more emptying it, just the occasional wipe down and it’s good to go. I am hoping to start painting all the kitchen cabinets soon-ish. I plan on posting some new video showing how I actually use the Fuji MiniMite 4 to get “professional” painting results. Thanks for checking it out!

    Thanks for sharing. Good details. ECM should revise their model to correct the drain volumetric flow rate

    My Rocket machine had a pretty wobbly drip tray which I thought was annoying but lived with, my Synchronika is pretty tight / precise fit especially the middle piece. Sucks you had that issue, but pretty nice solution for it.

    Another solution, if you have a 3D printer would be to create a MUCH bigger catch basin with the same attachment holes and a drain connector. I don’t have the technical knowledge to design something like that but I have a 3D printer if someone wants to share the CAD design.

      Looks like somebody already figured this out. Complete with printing instructions if you click through the comments www.home-barista.com/espresso-machines/ecm-synchronika-drain-pan-upgrade-espresso-machine-drain-plumbing-t69306.html

      Hey! Connecting dots - someone made a 3D printed upgrade to the drain pan. www.home-barista.com/espresso-machines/ecm-synchronika-drain-pan-upgrade-espresso-machine-drain-plumbing-t69306.html. They posted the design file in that thread. I'm working on plumbing out the drain of my Technika. Let me know if you have any luck!

    Thanks for the video. I have the same problem and wanted to do the same.
    For the life of me, I can't find the P7020 in stock anymore. I have the P7021 already but the elbow is unobtanium. Do you have any idea what size and standard the elbow is? I am talking specifically of the female end of the elbow.
    I took the P7021 nut to my local hardware store but I just couldn't work out what I needed. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for posting both of your videos and information.Really well thought out! I like the idea attaching the elbow to the bottom of the tray. Seems like it's difficult to find the part in stock though. Hoping to find an aftermarket fix. May I ask what diameter drain tube you used? I'm going to have to plumb into my garbage disposal and it is 7/8" ID.

      @postbeam8200  2 года назад

      Hi sorry for the late response... the tube I used was ½ inch inside dimension and ¾ outside dimension clear vinyl tubing. And yes that elbow part looks very hard to find. I think it must be for the commercial machine not the Synchronika. If you do end up finding an alternative post your finding here so others might find it. I ended up drilling out the drip tray so I think any other option would be just about as easy. Good Luck!

    Great idea but isnt the try impossible to pull out to clean now?
    What about making the tray hole smaller instead of bigger?

    • @BartJaworski
      @BartJaworski 2 года назад

      That's what I was thinking. Seems like making the hole smaller with a grommet or something similar would be a much easier solution that would still allow the tray to be removed for cleaning.

    FYI a step-bit would have worked so much efficiently with that hole . Put a stir straw equivalent size tube in the drain hole with it protruding above the waterline in the pan will help with the draining of the water (no Whirlpool or sucking sound)(venting the drain).

    Whether with a catch basin or the direct line that you have here in the video... How do you keep your lines from clogging over time?

    • @postbeam8200
      @postbeam8200  2 года назад +3

      You know I was worried about it clogging originally but because the tube is transparent I can see if anything is starting to clog it up and it is remarkably clean after 250+ espressos. I think having the steep near vertical angle helps, and every week or so I wipe it all down and in the process of back flushing the group head I also flush plenty of hot water (195 deg F) down the drain line. So it remains nearly perfectly clean so far. Hope that helps!

    Did you have to expand the drain hole of the tray to install the elbow? Can you also provide the link to the elbow and fastener nut? The one place I found that sells them is out of stock and I don't see other options. Thanks! (I'm also enjoying my Cedar E37 grinder--YMMV)

      Hi. I did expand the hole a lot using a dremel grinding bit. I bought my pars at 1st line coffee. And it does she out of stock. Maybe call them and see if they can order some more.

    My ECM grate is a bit too tight in the tray and difficult to remove. Other than that, a great machine.

      Funny, my tray was wobbly. :) It is such a nice machine they just need to spend a little time getting the trays right.

    Thanks for posting this. Very informative. Do you have the dimensions of the ECM Synchronika? I'm in the market for the machine and I want to be sure it'll fit in my location of choice

    • @postbeam8200
      @postbeam8200  2 года назад +1

      According to the ECM manual it is:
      Measurements:W x D x H / 335 mm x 490mm x 410 mm
      Measurements with filter holder:W x D x H / 335mm x 590 mm x 410 mm
      But if you go onto the Whole Latte Love website under ECM Synchronika they have a 3D viewer that can create an 3D virtual reality model you can place on your countertop and see if it fits. I did a video where I used it called "plumbing our ECM syncronika"
      hope that helps!

      So I am sad to say the part: ECM P7020 Drip Tray Drain Elbow
      is currently showing unavailable at 1st line coffee where I bought mine. It might be available from ECM in Germany, if anyone finds a good supplier please post a link.

      I have been looking at ways to plum my Synchronika that I purchased a month ago and found this video. Super helpful @Post & Beam. @SHARK MR I am fairly certain that the Drip Tray Drain Elbow is discontinued by ECM. No idea why.
