When the average driver worldwide drives only 30ish miles a day? And when the average new car buyers worldwide is also a homeowner. 🤔 Here in the us in 2022 85% of new car buyers were homeowners with six figure household incomes. So they have a place to park it with reliable electricity supply to charge it up with while they sleep. 👍🏻
You should deliver this message to Volvo in person and demand a small affordable vehicle with a large battery and limited interior space. I am sure they will realize their mistake.
Overall, I'm impressed, but as an actual honest-to-god Volvo C30 owner, the rear visibility is terrible. Further, the lack of tactile controls, and a forward facing display, bothers me. This car *needs* collision avoidance, because it has a built-in distraction center that takes your vision away from the road, and forces it down and to the right. Studies since the 1980's have repeatedly shown that analog gauges (even if they're on an LED screen) are easier to see, even at the edge of your field of view. Further, it wasn't that long ago that Vi Bilägare, a Swedish automotive magazine, did tests that prove that buttons and switches are far superior to any touchscreen infotainment system. A small display behind the steering wheel, and a row of mechanical buttons across the center console below the display, even if it means shrinking the display, would make this a much safer, more appealing vehicle. I was genuinely hoping this might be a replacement for my aging C30, but I don't think this is the EV for me.
In the USA (excluding Hawaii), anything under 300 miles of range is not really practical, we really need 350 miles of range at least, and I will not bother looking at an EV with less than 400. We desperately need the next generation of battery technology and reliable charging stations!
This reminds me of an updated take on what BMW was trying to do with the i3 almost 10 years ago except better. I think the world needs this car and I hope many other manufacturers are taking note.
I’m very interested in this car but so far RUclips auto influencers have just been reading a script from Volvo and no one actually has driven a production car. Even the videos features stock footage or the exact same car in the same studio. I guess they shuffle these influences in and out of the studio to read a script. They should mention in the video if they are getting paid to give a sales pitch. At $35k, it’s a no brainer, but assume you won’t see the base model until 2026.
I looked around and found out the dimensions are similar to GTI. Very interesting product and a powerful car. The price is kinda reasonable and if there is any tax credit to this one, it will be amazing product (but highly doubt if this car will be produced in the States to be qualified to tax credit)
They’re going to sell millions and millions of these. This is the “VW Bug” of EVs that we have been looking for… global platform, affordable, elegantly packaged.
Not sure how they would be able to do it given it does not qualify for tax credit, which makes it more expensive than a model 3. Maybe even a model Y. They really need to go below 30K to stand a chance. Even in Europe, I am not sure it's very competitive given Model Y RWD is below 40K euro.
@@wgemini4422The Model 3 costs $39K, so is only a grand “cheaper” with the tax credit - which you have to wait to get back. Sofyan, you were very critical of Tesla's center screen design in the Model 3. Now, it's cool cos it's a Volvo?
We never had any issues with the center screen in the Model 3, not sure where you see that. We just wanted a few more hard button controls and CarPlay, but the software in the Tesla was always great.
300 miles should be the industry
minimum for EV cars. 💯😅
When the average driver worldwide drives only 30ish miles a day? And when the average new car buyers worldwide is also a homeowner. 🤔
Here in the us in 2022 85% of new car buyers were homeowners with six figure household incomes.
Nice! Love that color
In the USA (excluding Hawaii), anything under 300 miles of range is not really practical, we really need 350 miles of range at least, and I will not bother looking at an EV with less than 400. We desperately need the next generation of battery technology and reliable charging stations!
You will own nothing and be happy.
You will own nothing and be happy.
So they should stop making them? Look at the early dinosaur fuel vehicles; some people bought them to get things going. Other people preferred horses.
This reminds me of an updated take on what BMW was trying to do with the i3 almost 10 years ago except better. I think the world needs this car and I hope many other manufacturers are taking note.
Did he mention if these will be produced in the US? Tax credit?
Nope, these will be built in China so no tax credit. 😢
Absolutely love this. Great pricing, interior details, and performance. Kudos to Volvo!
Speckled interior reminds me of a public restroom. Pass on that style. Hope the other interiors look better.
No rear AC vents?
I looked around and found out the dimensions are similar to GTI. Very interesting product and a powerful car. The price is kinda reasonable and if there is any tax credit to this one, it will be amazing product (but highly doubt if this car will be produced in the States to be qualified to tax credit)
Made in China, so no tax breaks
It is literally nothing like a C30
It's like Mitsubishi with the "Eclipse" crossover
Something's off with your camera settings today. It's very distracting!
They need a rear seat armrest and a through loading, like what I saw with the Smart One. Hope these make it to the production.
ladies and gentlemen, your replacement for the discontinued Chevy Bolt and Bolt EUV has COME IN...!!!
They’re going to sell millions and millions of these. This is the “VW Bug” of EVs that we have been looking for… global platform, affordable, elegantly packaged.
Can't wait to see all of these on dealership lots with 20k markups
Volvo isn't like that but who knows.
It also is a lower quality vehicle overall, with inferior fit and finish, and isn’t a hatchback/crossover.
The real target here is the Model Y, which this car outperforms in every way - including having a lower price.
