    We were in Italy for a total for 48 hours, but it was def worth it to see the new EX30 up close and personal! We think this vehicle will be a HUGE hit with Volvo and we expect it to become one of their best-sellers. Just also wanted to clarify, this vehicle will be manufactured in China, so it will not qualify for the federal tax credit, but with such a low starting price, we imagine most buyers will be willing to overlook that.

      But it's up to the dealers whether they want to pass along the tax credits to customers via a lease arrangement. That's what Polestar is doing with their Polestar 2 as you probably know. Polestar 2 is also manufactured in China for those unaware.

      @@stephenwinter8892 Huh? Why? I just watched Redline Reviews do a review on the other vehicle and was interested in his review of this Volvo. I'm associating the two because they are both manufactured in China and he said they're not eligible for the tax credit. In case of leasing, that is not correct. Here in the U.S. at least dealers can decide whether the federal tax credits can be passed on to their consumers. Who are you to say my post is "unwanted"??

    I also just drove the new BMW iX1, which is a dual motor EV, but with only around 313hp. It still felt more than quick enough, and was impressively well built and practical.
    But, this EX30 may be just perfect for me. All I need is a commute car, we have a petrol SUV for family duties, so I don't even need something as large as an XC40 or iX1.

    275 miles, eh? An ID4-ish kind of number. Seems like a good deal now, but I'm guessing customers in 2025 might be looking for longer range than they could get in 2021 from entry-level machines.

      When the average driver worldwide drives only 30ish miles a day? And when the average new car buyers worldwide is also a homeowner. 🤔
      Here in the us in 2022 85% of new car buyers were homeowners with six figure household incomes. So they have a place to park it with reliable electricity supply to charge it up with while they sleep. 👍🏻

    Overall, I'm impressed, but as an actual honest-to-god Volvo C30 owner, the rear visibility is terrible. Further, the lack of tactile controls, and a forward facing display, bothers me. This car *needs* collision avoidance, because it has a built-in distraction center that takes your vision away from the road, and forces it down and to the right. Studies since the 1980's have repeatedly shown that analog gauges (even if they're on an LED screen) are easier to see, even at the edge of your field of view. Further, it wasn't that long ago that Vi Bilägare, a Swedish automotive magazine, did tests that prove that buttons and switches are far superior to any touchscreen infotainment system.
    A small display behind the steering wheel, and a row of mechanical buttons across the center console below the display, even if it means shrinking the display, would make this a much safer, more appealing vehicle.
    I was genuinely hoping this might be a replacement for my aging C30, but I don't think this is the EV for me.

    In the USA (excluding Hawaii), anything under 300 miles of range is not really practical, we really need 350 miles of range at least, and I will not bother looking at an EV with less than 400. We desperately need the next generation of battery technology and reliable charging stations!

    I’m very interested in this car but so far RUclips auto influencers have just been reading a script from Volvo and no one actually has driven a production car. Even the videos features stock footage or the exact same car in the same studio. I guess they shuffle these influences in and out of the studio to read a script. They should mention in the video if they are getting paid to give a sales pitch. At $35k, it’s a no brainer, but assume you won’t see the base model until 2026.

      Not sure how they would be able to do it given it does not qualify for tax credit, which makes it more expensive than a model 3. Maybe even a model Y. They really need to go below 30K to stand a chance. Even in Europe, I am not sure it's very competitive given Model Y RWD is below 40K euro.

    • @Sl1pstreams
      @Sl1pstreams Год назад

      @@wgemini4422The Model 3 costs $39K, so is only a grand “cheaper” with the tax credit - which you have to wait to get back. It also is a lower quality vehicle overall, with inferior fit and finish, and isn’t a hatchback/crossover.
      The real target here is the Model Y, which this car outperforms in every way - including having a lower price.
