I loved his character and I think he has a very strong performance.
That Namor storyline was written very well and rewarding at the end. I know a lot of people didn't like it, preferring the Kilmonger arc, but I really liked it. It created room for incredible world building without the need for a Thanos level super-villain.

Thankfully in Tenoch's case, Namor does have an all-black suit he occasionally wears in the comics. So, in future films he won't be stuck wearing shorts all the time.
Yeah, I think that black suit fits into the MCU much better.

his black suit could be a way of keeping the moisture on his body so he doesn’t dry out like he did in the finale of the film. I think that would be a great way to go about it personally.)

Tenoch Huerta's vibes are like the same vibes of the "favorite uncle" at the family gathering. You expect to be bored, and then he pulls up and you know you'll be entertained for however long you have to be there LOL
He dances like an uncle too. I've seen two videos of him dancing with Lupita (and one with Mabel), and he dances like an uncle with rhythm. It's very cute/endearing.

I loved how Shuri's emotional journey was done here. It was very well written. Not like some other female characters done wrong in this phase. That was my fear going into this movie and I wasnt disappointed! Namor and Talocan was awsome. And Angela Basette damn! riri was the weakest part for me tho.

And literally every female character was done well in this phase ,they all had flaws and development !So no !
I mean…the film showcased how everyone grieves differently. We just had more insight on how it was for Shuri because she was the main focus(which i fucking love.) Some people seek comfort spiritually/within their faith because they don’t want to be alone in their pain, others stick to what they know and put their focus on tangible things and some escape in more destructive ways. Grieving is never black and white. The only reason, i imagine, that you felt other female characters emotional journey’s were written badly is because the focus wasn’t on them so we couldn’t see them in depth but i still understood where they were coming from. Also, in my opinion, this film would’ve just been bleak if it hadn’t been for Riri’s character - the audience erupted in laughter whenever she said or did anything. She was fucking phenomenal 👏🏼.

Wait at 8:20 Tenoch was in the midst of telling how a man from an Indigenous community taught him the "only the most broken people can be great leaders” quote. Which is so interesting-it immediately raises questions like: did Tenoch improv that line or ask the writers to put it in after hearing it in his everyday life? Did the movie have cultural advisers on set? But instead of exploring this further, the interview cuts to asking about whether they could get away with taking jewelry home from set😬🤨🤔 That was not a throwaway bit of the interview. That was valuable. Our stories are valuable. Please be mindful about your interviews in the future BBC; this is a major cultural moment for so many groups across the world at this point. This deserves to be treated with thoughtfulness and care.

@@georgieb.4278 Which producers BP or BBC? I see it more as a BBC thing.because either they edited Tenoch’s story out or the interviewer completely (dis)missed the point. I also think BP producers deserve a bit of benefit of the doubt given their commitment thus far to honoring our full nuanced stories. At the very least, BBC could’ve had an interviewer of color for this opportunity-the cultural significance of this movie was completely left out of this interview which is like,huh?? Were we all watching the same movie???
@@HollaBlackGrrl Opps! I was referring to BBC. BP definitely has graced us with representation of my People (Mexican family) as we are all aware here in the United States there is very little of us on the big screen.

Props to Letitia and everyone else. She had to do a Herculean task in this movie. She really did well. Its a good thing shes not the permanent Black Panther moving forward, just temporary.

@@Davefromdabend5 I think the same. The other cast members are not too old so a little makeup and costume changes will do the trick to the audience. Eventually, you can even bring on new characters to evolve around T’challa Jr (maybe Storm…?). Anyway, I love the direction this franchise took.

Namors design/costume is 11/10 imo
Normally I’m slightly opposed to when a characters race/gender/sexuality is changed unless it’s done right(usually it’s never creative), but this movie ACTUALLY did it right. Obviously Namor was a white guy in the comics, but the inclusion and the story of the Meso-American people and how they got into the water was very well done. Like, they give an explanation (also one that’s believable) and one that would make sense. I was really impressed with the character

You start off saying that you're opposed normally when characters race gender or sexuality is changed. You know what that translates to me? It says that you are for the empirical Norm of most characters especially the good ones having white skin. Because that's the norm since the Inception of movies and TV depictions of all heroes, all Martyrs, savior figures, all natural born leaders were mostl if not all White for the longest because of RACISM. But Blacks & Hispanics and most indigenous people are supposed to be "minorities" when white people are the minority worldwide and now movies and TV are catching up to reflecting what the world really looks like, you're saying that you normally oppose it? So you are then in favor of keeping the status quo of inequality. You're so on the wrong side of things with this comment that your compliment of the movie at the end is deeply detracted by the beginning of it even though the compliment is correct - hence problematic. You got a lot of work to be done as far as the way you look at the world, you need to educate yourself, and you need to know that it was wrong for whites to put themselves in everything only & people of color (when they were onscreen anyway) in lesser negative stereotypical roles - that's not normal it's not reflective of this world and is therefore not right to begin with.
Namor was Atlantean, he just looked white. He technically never had an actual race. Atlanteans don’t exist & if they did they would’ve looked closer to the animated film because Atlantis has been theorize to exist where the Sahara was.
But because Atlantis was a Greek creation to begin with, they centralized THEIR perception of them as Caucasian thus media has this idea that Atlanteans are white people
