A vanishing conductor and New York Central tag on CSX 6247 L317 with Chessie System Difco dump cars

  • CSX local L317 works a business called "Chemical Solvents" in Cleveland Ohio on the corner of Jennings Rd and Old Denison Ave. This is a small business which can only accommodate one car at a time. It looks like they only get switched once or twice a month based on the rust on the wheels. I filmed this over the summer but figured the video would be complete if the actual customer could be seen so I drove by last week and got a quick roll by. At the end of the video we see the train pulling into Parma yard.
I thought it would be funny to mention how the conductor disappears in my editing. A view has mentioned several times he finds it amusing.

Thank you for watching! Yeah I miss working with Kent! Shortlines and industrial switching is what I like to focus on.

Great little back and forth switching with tracks Kris Kross and of course sometimes go out of view. These places are really going by the wayside there is one place on the southside of Milwaukee that gets two boxcars of bricks a year and luckily it's got a long enough siding to store maintenance of the equipment so the UP keeps the switch in good shape. I always appreciate your taking the time to find these obscure tracks. Lord knows some of these it would take a decade to get the same number of cars as you see in a regular freight train

Cleveland only has a fraction of the industry it used to. There was hundreds of small carload customers.

Intersting to see the Dico (Differential Car Company) dump cars. I grew up in Findlay Ohio where the company was located.

6247 is far away from New England where she belongs. Send the units with Cab Signals back east where needed!!

There's nothing quite like the magic of Northeast Ohio in the winter.

Always wanted to catch this one too - youve gotta try to get them switching over at Willow

I only have 2-3x. They did redo a lot of track at that cement plant last year. Added 2x the amount of track, was cool to watch. Super interesting operation with the WYE, and dead end bridge - they usually use remote control loco's @@ScottTaipaleRail

Great video of all the switching ops going on! This is one reason i created a shelf switching layout to enjoy some model railroad switching. Thanks again Scott for another great video. Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.

Thank you. My last layout started with a small 4 track yard and then loops, no industry. I quickly found I enjoyed switching cars at the yard rather than running in a loop. Next layout will be highly industry based.
