MALLS ARE MY FIRST LOVE | Episode 2

On March 31, 2023, Lakeforest Mall in Maryland and this mall, Galleria White Plains are permanently closed. After covering Military Circle, I went to White Plains, NY to visit the Galleria (and also The Westchester). I've recorded it in January 29, 2023 just to see a little bit of life left.
Officially known as Galleria White Plains (The & at are additional) was opened in 1980 with 4 floors and 2 major anchors, Macy*s & Sears. Both buildings were under different stores before their last incarnations. The mall's layout are 2 full floors then a smaller Garden Court floor with the food court then the street level which included a handful of stores and restaurants.
I first knew this mall being a part of The Mills Corporation of malls. Yes, that Mills with the outlet megamalls. When the company was brought out by Simon in 2007, Galleria became a part of Simon along with the neighboring The Westchester.
The center started to majorly fall off in the 2010's as Simon dropped ownership, then anchors started closing, then others. The mall failed to adapt and thus the mall is permanently closed.
