From C#minor7 it changed to C#Major7(9), and then to a C#7(b9), leading back to F#min7

He just turned the relative minor into a major.
Eg- in the key of C, the verse progression would be C, to A minor ( then they add the major 3rd) making it A major/ diminished to go to the D minor
