Hey guys! A couple of you have rightly noticed that Kapil Dev was the first Indian ODI Batsman to score a century and not Ravishankar Shastri, and yes that is correct. But you don't see that here because there were many more International Players who also had 1 Century in 1983. If the video showed Top 50, you would have indeed seen Kapil Dev above R Shastri. R Shastri Sir made 2 centuries in 1984 and thus, he climbed this ranking chart quicker and so you saw him before Kapil Dev. Hope this is clear to everyone now.
Yes that's what I wanted to say, you are compiling those year by year. In that year Shastri made 2 cents whereas Kapil made 1, so Shastri got moving as he had more cents in that year than Kapil. No of cents are discrete for every year as I can see in your presentation

Kohli started later. Also his work ethic is unparalleled. And in cricket the benefit of doubt is given to the batsman so it is wrong to blame poor umpiring. And nowadays bowlers can 'study' their batsmen and can bowl strategically as there is so much data available. Not to mention that now the batsmen have to endure 2 bouncers per over. Kohli prevails in such conditions. He is one of a kind and he is no. 1 for a reason.

For people saying that Kohli is not as good as Sachin, please understand that Kohli started later and had emotional setbacks ( his father died when he started his career). But he kept working hard. His work ethic is unparalleled. I today's cricket bowlers can 'study' their batsmen and can bowl strategically as there is so much data available. Not to mention that now the batsman has to endure 2 bouncers per over. Kohli prevails in such conditions. And let's not forget that among Indian batsmen, Kohli has the best ever Test rating (937 points), ODI rating (911 points) and T20I rating (897 points). He is the fastest to reach 5000 and 10000 runs in international cricket. I'm pretty sure that if Virat continues his form, he will certainly be remembered as the finest batsman produced by this subcontinent.

It is interesting to see the shift of power from west to east at around 1998. It started the golden era for Asia. All the big names like Sachin, Jayasurya, Sangakara, etc. dominated this time. Also you can see a sudden stop in the movement at around 2015-16. This was the time when all these legends retired but the mark that they left on cricket still remains.

Kohli is amazing. I think he is the greatest ODI batsman I've ever seen. No disrespect to Tendulkar. But I also think his stats are inflated because of the change in the rules (two new balls, 4 fielders outside from 10-40 overs), flat bang pitches, and better bats. I am only saying this because I've seen so young Kohli fans dismiss Tendulkar in the debate of Kohli vs Tendulkar simply citing the statistics. They always point to Kohli's century ratio, his average, and runs to matches ratio. And it's so difficult to show them that if you compare Tendulkar's ODI numbers with that of the other batsmen of his Era. Then compared Kohli's ODI statistics with the batsmen of his era. You will find that Tendulkar's number had more deviant than Kohli's. Sachin was a little ahead of his curve than Kohli is right now. I wish I had bookmarked the article that actually did a thorough research to reach to that conclusion. But you can just check the stats, and use common sense.
Again, Kohli is the best ODI batsman I've ever seen. But I wish people stopped being so dismissive while hinging everything on stats.

@@shashankdixit8949 kohli is playing in a t20 influenced batting style whereas sachin played most of his career in a way where you have to play the good bowlers watchfully and im not going to tell you how different the rules were back then from now, however that is a also a factor. 70-80 ball 100 is the norm right now whereas in those days it used to took more than 100 balls to get to 100. If i go by your comment then not only sachin was slow (which is only told by stupid people) but also other great batsman like sanga ganguly ricky etc of that era.

Those days when Sachin and Ganguly used to open against Akhtar, Akram, McGrath, Lee, Warne, Bond, Ntini, Dillon, Vaas and Muralitharan...still they were capable enough to make those many numbers of centuries against these bowlers. 80s and 90s kids will never forget Sachin and Ganguly's contribution for the Indian cricket team.

Virat Kohli has had it way too easy.... Sachin had to face legendary bowlers like Akram, Mcgrath, Donald, Murli, Waqar, Gough, Ambrose, Walsh, Warne, Kallis, Vaas etc. So Sachins hundreds hold a lot more weight! Plus Sachin had a really long career, he hardly suffered long term injuries and he was always super fit 90% of the time!

He became the first Indian to score the highest number of ODI centuries in the world in 1995 and the quality of fast and spin ballers in the era is still unbeatable. He continues to be at the top. This was super inspiring for Indians and budding indian cricketerss. This set up the stage for India to produce heroes such as kohli and rohit sharma. We (atleast I) will never forget how proud Sachin made us as Indians. During those days there was hardly anything to look up to other than cricket. Sachin forever and the GOAT!

I'm not an expert but i find it funny when people put the point that sachin played in the era where bowlers were more dangerous than now. To all of them.i have just one question. Why isn't in this era making 40+ centuries like virat kohli? . nowadays bowlers have every data of batsman and they can know the weakness of the batsman by analyzing so don't just say batting nowadays is easier than before.

Hitting a double century back in the day was something no one ever could think of, but nowadays we see it on very frequent basis. Also there are hardly few bowlers these days who bowls more than 140+ kmph speed and I don't need to mention about change in the rules every now and then, powerplays, etc. No doubt Virat is a legend but that era was actually tough and for that Sachin will always be Sachin.
