The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla (from Bologna, northern Italy), wrote this while staying in one of the rooms where Enrico Caruso, former famous tenor (From Neaples, southern Italy), spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucio Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life. curiosity: in sicilian dialect the word caruso means (ragazzo) boy.
Pavarottis voice touches my soul in a way that no other singer can. And it makes me cry with its beauty and power. It feels like I can curl up inside his voice and he will keep me safe.
I get so emotional and just dissolve into tears every time I hear him sing. I wish I could have seen him in person, but I would have to have brought a box of tissues with me as I know I would be crying through his whole concert, it's just so beautiful.
Pavarotti has something in his voice and expression that touches everyone. Men and women. His voice is powerful and warm like the sun and makes you feel good. He had a wonderful personality too. If you watch documentaries you can see how the people he met speak of him full of love.
@Marie Whitbread So true. I often thought the same. There are many very good tenors. More in the past than in the present. But high notes are not everything. I always return to Pavarotti. Listening AND watching him is magic and gives you a smile.
Each time I listen to Pavarotti I personally feel like I've just fallen in love..mindblown, grateful, vulnerable, joyful, lucky and scared and petrified by Beauty ❤️
I think the question about 'what the female listeners hear' was about the most intelligent question I've ever heard asked. I'm a feminist and I never came up with that. What I feel is humanity. Shared with men.
Thank you for another Pavarotti! It’s a tiny wee video, but well worth checking out Pavarotti and Dame Joan Sutherland singing “Addio Addio” live, from Rigoletto. Thanks again!
The performance from Dalla and Pavarotti at the Pavarotti and friends is the best. Dalla used that live performance for his album instead of the studio one because the adrenaline made him reach notes that he usually couldn't reach.
This song is from an Italian artist called Lucio Dalla; and it's Hymn or tribute to another old days italian Tenor (the world's best still I think) ; called Enrico Caruso !
I love Pavarotti. His singing gives me chills everytime I listen to him. Honestly, if I ever would have had a chance to see him sing live, I hate to say it like this..😅 But hearing him sing live would've definitely been an instant panty dropping moment for me. 😅😅🙈🙈🙈 99.9% sure of that. That 0.01% would've depended upon who was with me at the time.🤣🤣🤣
Someone must have already said that this is an italian pop song written by Lucio Dalla. You should listen to the original singer live, especially now you've seen the lyrics. Apart from the heating th blood in the veins because it should be melting not heating
Pavarotti is pure emotional power but You have to listen to original version of Lucio Dalla sto composed music and lyrics. I'm italian and I love the songs of Dalla and how He sings them.
I'd like to see a reaction from you of Andrea Bocelli singing The Lord's Prayer with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, orchestra, and cathedral pipe organ. He's totally blind and a terrific tenor.
Please don't chop the song into pieces! It is so disrupting. When you do have to pause, you can do it quickly, and save comments to the end. I had to give you a thumbs down, you just destroy all enjoyment of the song.
im a tough bro ..i mean a mean bro ..and sometimes i drop some tears listinign this song ..cause i never culd let my emotions for a girl that i like because i alwasy keep emotion deep inside

It's just his voice. It's so haunting and beautiful. Full of emotion.
Each time I listen to Pavarotti I personally feel like I've just fallen in love..mindblown, grateful, vulnerable, joyful, lucky and scared and petrified by Beauty ❤️
For me (woman) he does not only lets me listen to the
Music 🎵 he makes me FEEL IT. Chills ❤️🙏❤️🦋🦋🦋
Luciano Pavarotti was and will be the greatest tenor mankind has ever had.
As a lady: One can't describe the emotions "The Master" stirs up with his voice....pure heaven!!!! I could fall in love on the spot...
To answer your question:
A female here. And the feeling I have when listening to Pavarotti is much the same. Empowered. Uplifted. Roiled up. Moved.
I think the question about 'what the female listeners hear' was about the most intelligent question I've ever heard asked. I'm a feminist and I never came up with that.
What I feel is humanity. Shared with men.

the versione with him and Lucio Dalla makes it an all new experience
I'm always happy when you react to pavarotti ;)
You should react to the original song by Lucio Dalla, too

Have you heard him sing "Nessum Dorma" from the final act of Puccini's opera Turandot (live in concert with The Three Tenors in Los Angeles in 1994)?
Oooo and if I may be so bold to make a second suggestion - the quartet from Rigoletto deserves a watch - another Pavarotti and Sutherland live 🎶😇❤️
This is about the opera singer Caruso leaving to come to America, he was the greatest voice of our time.
Actually, it is about the last moments of Caruso, who was ill and about to die, with his wife.
Bravo
Lara Fabian does an amazing job of this song too, she is worth a listen
Se Dio avesse una voce sarebbe proprio come la sua ! ❤
I totally agree with your description of his emotiveness. (?) Not sure if that's a word, but it is now.
Liciano has always been my favourite.
Luciano
As a woman, somethings are so beautiful, they actually hurt. I actually grab my chest when I hear him
I love Lara Fabian's version of this. Try her sing Je Suis Malade.

PLEASE also listen to Lara Fabian’s version of Caruso. She will surely drive you to tears
Nope, Pavarotti is and forever will be the King of Caruso
This song.....Laura Fabian!!!!!!!
