Im blown away by this one Brandon! It sounds so good. Levitation is hard at work on the animation, and it is going to be super fun to see it all come together! Its not every day you get to write a battle track to a character that fights via summoning a cooked turkey lol and juggling a pot of chili. It was a pleasure working with you on this, and I hope we can do this track justice!

@@AlacrasEden Ah, so Mario but he rivals and surpasses The Fairly OddParents in terms of how OP wishes are. A galaxy Mega Mushroom sounds way too accurate. I can see Mario eating it and helping hold the destruction of a galaxy, during the retelling of Super Mario Galaxy. I can definitely see Yoshi flying across the solar system or Daisy tossing her entire castle.
Honestly, this seems like one of those fights where they both don’t die. I can imagine near the end, Paper Mario, tired and injured, nearly falls into some kinda void. Maybe even the Zone of Silence if Archie accidentally opened a portal there, and Archie pulls him up, telling him he’s real tough and if he’d like to go get some food.

Everything else about them is completely different. Besides, it’s an easy stomp for Fawful, especially with The Dark Star’s power. He needs to fight someone more his level. Someone strong… and smart.
A very sound matchup. I guess this fight would be rather drawn out, the idea is great on paper though. Puns aside this sounds like a very fast paced match.

Sure sonic would win however it wouldn’t be easy at first because of paper Mario’s stupid amount of items he could use to his advantage however sonic had made feats not even paper Mario could counter but the match would be closer than you think.

Honestly this just makes me want to see a actual non Olympics crossover. Both of these franchises could make a excellent crossover. Debating sonic vs is unfun so reality losing is my prediction.
If Mario can tolerate Rabbids (That have irreparably infected and damaged the Rayman franchise). A non-Olympic crossover with Sonic should be no problem. Either a RPG or a semi-open world platformer (With collectible mechanics) would suit such a crossover imo.

Personally, I put Sonic at low planet level. This is because his Super form absorbs the power of the Chaos Emeralds, which Eggman used to split the planet into seven pieces in Sonic Unleashed.

This is SUPER sick. It's a fantastic combination of the playful aspect of Paper Mario, while still keeping the intensity needed for a cataclysmic fight between two characters as powerful as these ones. Amazing job, Brandon. Can't wait to hear it in the episode!
The thing I really like about Brandon’s works is the fact that it never sounds like he is rushing the track or cutting corners. He puts everything in his track and this song is prove of that.

Now that’s a sick track. The In the Final melody is absolutely magnificent and fits really well without feeling like the song is too focused on Paper Mario (Or I guess Mario in general given that In The Final doesn't come from Paper Mario to begin with) either. You wouldn’t think that a track involving Paper Mario out of all characters would sound this epic and yet here it is. Key moments I’d like to note would be the very beginning until around 0:36 which sounds absolutely magnificent while still being minimalistic and The finale starting at around 2:39 which makes for an epic buildup to the conclusion. The pacing of the song is also really freaking nice, so much so that one could almost imagine how the fight would happen because of it. One of the best tracks done that I can think of lately, and that’s saying something as even the very latest track aside from this one is top tier too, just like most other tracks made recently. But this one probably takes the cake if I had to guess. Will have to see after a few listenings if I still think that but but I don’t think it’ll change that soon. Didn’t mention it but the art, while not as extravagant as some such as Cities in the Midst of Battle or Will of the Drill does the job really well and has elements from both characters represented in a way that doesn’t make them stand out badly which is everything a Death Battle art piece can ask for so great job on that side to the artist.
I honestly did not expect something this great from paper Mario vs Archie Sonic. The song alone tells the story of a great battle the choir to the guitar getting faster and harder till they reach their peak at the end. Amazing song!
The second I heard In the Final mixed in there, this was an immediate hit, even though In the Final is a Mario & Luigi track and Final Battle from Paper Jam would make more sense. Regardless, this is a great track!

( red thing and his comic book wasn’t killed or even burn by the fire) 2:06-all comic books in the room turn red and flip through the pages. Something is coming out of all of them 2:11 all the dead super heros that died in the comic. ( out to kill the 3nd and final comic book theft) 2:38 2 dead and red comic book thefts. ( helping all the dead super heroes) 2:51 final comic book theft killed. ( death by being attacked by all the dead comic book here and 2 red comic book thefts, and bring finished off by all dead comic book villains) This was written as a test to see if it’s possible to write a story that’s fits with the timing of the might itself, aka..letting the music make the story. ( note. The red thing is not Deadpool, it was somthing that looks out of place in a comic book and was there to punish and kill the 3 comic book thefts.)

Mario was in shock as the Koopa King began to laugh before the Bob-omb exploded, sending Mario flying into a mysterious location known as Green Hill. Sonic has prepared his ingredients for his Chili Dog A La Sonic in the kitchen* Sonic(AC): Ah yeah! Now i got everything I need- *Mario crashes through the wall and accidentally knocking the ingredients away* Sonic(AC): Whoa! Yo, fatso! Watch your stache! *Sonic uses his super speed to catch all of the ingredients for his recipe and places then on the table* Sonic(AC): And safe and sound! *Mario then crashes into a wall* Sonic(AC): Safe from red wearing stache sport and punks like this guy. Speaking of which, where'd you come from? *Mario then recovers from the impact, then walks past Sonic* Sonic(AC): You're lucky none of the ingredients got trashed. That would have been- Huh!? *Mario then got one of Sonic's ingredients and eats it* Sonic(AC): Way past uncool, bro! You just ruffled the quills of the wrong hog!
I think my favorite part of this matchup is that neither of these characters were designed to be as overpowered as they are on purpose Paper Mario is literally just supposed to be a Mario RPG and ended up being a god like being while Archie Sonic originally followed the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog TV show before becoming… also a god

I’d have to give this to Archie Sonic. Bullshit speed and Chaos Powers make him way too overpowered. But then again, Mario does have a few things to buy him some time or make things difficult. Especially if he’s allowed to bring partners and Pixils with him into the fight. If he is, Bow and Vivian are perfectly capable of protecting Mario until Sonic’s super forms run out (assuming Chaos Wishes can’t hit him in those states) and The Star Spirits MIGHT be capable of neutralizing Chaos Energy all together.
You could argue Mario would be able to mess with Sonic's "Control fate" nonsense as the Star Beam was able to stop the Star Rod, which grants wishes and seems to function similarly. You could also stretch and claim Mario has survived universal destruction from the Sammer Kingdom being consumed. Mario is the character I'm more interested in, given his vast amount of abilities given Partners and Badges and Vellumentals and other such things, but I think Sonic takes it home just thanks to how insane and incalculable his powers are compared to Paper.
@@BillyBob-xx5jr Yeah, this seems like a similar case to fights like Link vs Cloud or Mewtwo vs Shadow: The battle of Brains vs Brawn. If Paper Mario plays his cards right, he could be just as capable of pulling off a victory. But Archie Sonic is incredibly strong and ABSURDLY fast. One miscalculation or slip-up on either fighter’s part could spell the difference between success or failure.

Considering the amount of BS long time iconic mascots (Not to mention the crossovers) go through, I actually doubt these are the most "powerful" versions of either character. Imho the track should've had a Shadow Queen or Dimento twist to it since they're actually Paper Mario villains (Instead of Dark Bowser), great track all-round though.
I mean Ian Flynn once said that both Archie Sonic and Games Sonic are identical when it comes to power, though I can't recall if he was referring to the pre-super genesis wave one or reboot

Honestly, a really fun match, from what I can tell the match itself comes down to how much you give paper mario Base paper Mario loses no doubt, but he probably wins with his game breaking power ups at the end of each game

He didn't really lose them. Considering the Chaos Emeralds alone have wish making capabilities, he doesn't even need to have wish powers himself. And anyways, Sonic's Fate manipulation bypasses wish granting.

Although the match is a bit of a headache to debate since it requires delving into dimensional tiering, (Which is nobody’s friend) and Paper Mario’s stats require looking at various non-paper games From what I recall: The chaos force (Which Sonic’s super forms get their power from) transcends/encompasses a standard 4-D Multiverse, and thus, is commonly accepted as 5-D (Death Battle themselves even put Archie at this level in one of the DBCs), meanwhile Paper Mario scales to the void, which would have destroyed all of the marioverse, including the Overthere, Mario’s equivalent of Heaven which transcends the time and space of Mario’s world, which we know is at least 5-D, since the original Japanese version of Super Mario Galaxy shows us through Matter Splatter Galaxy that space in Mario’s universes is 4-D, thus the Overthere, the Void, and Paper Mario are at least 6-D (Paper Mario can also transcend his world and rise to a higher dimension himself through the use of Kersti and Huey to stop time or straight up erase people from existence), and due to an artifact from one of the Warioware games called String Theory Soup being stated to contain the secrets of the Universe, it’s likely that Mario’s universes are actually 11-D, which would then make Paper Mario 12-D, and because each increase in dimensionality is a more than infinite power increase in dimensional tiering, that would make _base_ Paper Mario up to 7 layers of infinitely stronger than even Ultra Sonic! Not even factoring in _any_ of Mario’s stat amping artifacts or equipment, or even the passive stat buff he gets from fighting less than 4 enemies at a time in Origami King Hax is a whole other ballpark since both have a wide array of abilities, Chaos stuff gives Sonic a lot of abilities, and Paint does the same for Mario, but Mario should hold the advantage on this front too, as he is capable of removing paint with every attack (As well as survive being completely drained of it), and throughout Color Splash paint is shown to make up just about everything, including physical aspects of the body like blood, organs and matter, as well as the mind, memories and emotions, the soul, space itself, and even thoughts, ideas and concepts, which means that every hit Mario lands is going to be dealing damage to Sonic’s body/matter, mind, soul, concept, emotions, memories, and even the space that makes up his body. He can _probably_ resist the conceptual hax with his super forms (Since the Chaos Force has been argued to grant Conceptual hax of its own as well as resistance to it), but those are limited transformations and Sonic is fully vulnerable in base (Not to mention his super forms are still vulnerable to the other abilities paint hax grants, and saying the form’s invulnerability would protect him from someone stronger by 7 magnitudes of literal infinity would be the biggest NLF in existence), Sonic’s fate hax iirc has been bunked, but even if he had it, Paper Mario’s been completely unaffected by Bowser tearing apart the very plot to try and win and even if it did work, the Crystal Stars granting immortality means Mario could just pull a Mammoth Mogul and outlive Sonic (Mario being able to survive and fight without paint means Sonic has literally no hope of killing him beforehand, and even if he somehow did, Mario just comes back with 1-Ups/extra lives, which have been acknowledged as canonical things numerous times. And thanks to Mario 64 we know that after collecting 1000 coins [And this has been acknowledged later as an actual thing, not just a glitch], which Paper Mario has absolutely done, dying actually causes your lives to increase, not decrease) speed is practically moot, as both are Immeasurable. And both have stamina so ridiculously high that it shouldn’t really come into play either
And if you dive *DEEP* into Sonic then even game sonic wins. Probably even classic sonic since he scales to the final boss in sonic forces whos stronger than infinite who was stated to be the strongest viIIian.

Really, Sonic should'a won the fight in the original. New feats from Shadow VS Ryuko would be great evidence, plus the Mario speed feats were kinda pulled outta nowhere.

This shows that the combined power of the Emeralds is a lot greater than the sum of its individual powers, meaning Super Shadow was handicapped in Shadow vs Ryuko. Super Sonic has defeated Time Eater and Solaris, both of which were capable messing up with the entire universe. There is also Darkspine Sonic defeating Erazor Djinn, who would rewrite am entire reality, but I don't know if that can be directly compared to Super Sonic. It is also worth noticing that Sonic's speed was enough to break him out of Null Space, undo Time Eater's time erasure and mess up Eggman's pocket dimension in IDW, so game Sonic might have inmeasurable speed like his Archie counterpart. I've also been told that the Chaos Emeralds were used to move constelations and that the Egg Wizard (final boss of Sonic Rush Adventure) was capable of destroying 2 universes, but never truly confirmed it.

Yoooo, Super Smackdown track. Anyways, lets check this one. It starts very slow, but then it picks up. I can hear that one Paper Mario track in here, which I enjoy. However... there's something I do not like at all. Track's too short. The intro takes way too much time, and the track itself feels short. I like the solo but it ain't nothing too much out of the ordinary. I think what I enjoy the most from this track is that one Paper Mario OST in here. After all, it's for Super Smackdown, so it complements itself. Looking forward to the episode. In terms of Archie Sonic MUs, I'm mixed... He technically already had his best one but I'm not sure which is his best alt. And Paper Mario is... tricky. He could be as well normal Mario from what we know, with Paper Jam's Mario being an alternative universe Mario. It's a tricky position. I _think_ Archie wins. I'm not too sure in Paper's stats entirely.

Mario is less “plot heavy” so I don’t think they would make Mario more OP than Sonic but still it would probably even surpass Paper Mario

Honestly, this seems like one of those fights where they both don’t die. I can imagine near the end, Paper Mario, tired and injured, nearly falls into some kinda void. Maybe even the Zone of Silence if Archie accidentally opened a portal there, and Archie pulls him up, telling him he’s real tough and if he’d like to go get some food.

The thing I really like about Brandon’s works is the fact that it never sounds like he is rushing the track or cutting corners. He puts everything in his track and this song is prove of that.

Now that’s a sick track.
The In the Final melody is absolutely magnificent and fits really well without feeling like the song is too focused on Paper Mario (Or I guess Mario in general given that In The Final doesn't come from Paper Mario to begin with) either. You wouldn’t think that a track involving Paper Mario out of all characters would sound this epic and yet here it is.
Key moments I’d like to note would be the very beginning until around 0:36 which sounds absolutely magnificent while still being minimalistic and The finale starting at around 2:39 which makes for an epic buildup to the conclusion.
The pacing of the song is also really freaking nice, so much so that one could almost imagine how the fight would happen because of it.
One of the best tracks done that I can think of lately, and that’s saying something as even the very latest track aside from this one is top tier too, just like most other tracks made recently. But this one probably takes the cake if I had to guess. Will have to see after a few listenings if I still think that but but I don’t think it’ll change that soon.
Didn’t mention it but the art, while not as extravagant as some such as Cities in the Midst of Battle or Will of the Drill does the job really well and has elements from both characters represented in a way that doesn’t make them stand out badly which is everything a Death Battle art piece can ask for so great job on that side to the artist.

I honestly did not expect something this great from paper Mario vs Archie Sonic. The song alone tells the story of a great battle the choir to the guitar getting faster and harder till they reach their peak at the end.

I’d have to give this to Archie Sonic. Bullshit speed and Chaos Powers make him way too overpowered.
But then again, Mario does have a few things to buy him some time or make things difficult. Especially if he’s allowed to bring partners and Pixils with him into the fight. If he is, Bow and Vivian are perfectly capable of protecting Mario until Sonic’s super forms run out (assuming Chaos Wishes can’t hit him in those states) and The Star Spirits MIGHT be capable of neutralizing Chaos Energy all together.
This fight is basically asking if you buy incalculable speed paper mario with wish resistance
You could argue Mario would be able to mess with Sonic's "Control fate" nonsense as the Star Beam was able to stop the Star Rod, which grants wishes and seems to function similarly. You could also stretch and claim Mario has survived universal destruction from the Sammer Kingdom being consumed. Mario is the character I'm more interested in, given his vast amount of abilities given Partners and Badges and Vellumentals and other such things, but I think Sonic takes it home just thanks to how insane and incalculable his powers are compared to Paper.

Yeah, this seems like a similar case to fights like Link vs Cloud or Mewtwo vs Shadow: The battle of Brains vs Brawn.
If Paper Mario plays his cards right, he could be just as capable of pulling off a victory. But Archie Sonic is incredibly strong and ABSURDLY fast. One miscalculation or slip-up on either fighter’s part could spell the difference between success or failure.

Considering the amount of BS long time iconic mascots (Not to mention the crossovers) go through, I actually doubt these are the most "powerful" versions of either character.
Imho the track should've had a Shadow Queen or Dimento twist to it since they're actually Paper Mario villains (Instead of Dark Bowser), great track all-round though.

Hax is a whole other ballpark since both have a wide array of abilities, Chaos stuff gives Sonic a lot of abilities, and Paint does the same for Mario, but Mario should hold the advantage on this front too, as he is capable of removing paint with every attack (As well as survive being completely drained of it), and throughout Color Splash paint is shown to make up just about everything, including physical aspects of the body like blood, organs and matter, as well as the mind, memories and emotions, the soul, space itself, and even thoughts, ideas and concepts, which means that every hit Mario lands is going to be dealing damage to Sonic’s body/matter, mind, soul, concept, emotions, memories, and even the space that makes up his body. He can _probably_ resist the conceptual hax with his super forms (Since the Chaos Force has been argued to grant Conceptual hax of its own as well as resistance to it), but those are limited transformations and Sonic is fully vulnerable in base (Not to mention his super forms are still vulnerable to the other abilities paint hax grants, and saying the form’s invulnerability would protect him from someone stronger by 7 magnitudes of literal infinity would be the biggest NLF in existence), Sonic’s fate hax iirc has been bunked, but even if he had it, Paper Mario’s been completely unaffected by Bowser tearing apart the very plot to try and win and even if it did work, the Crystal Stars granting immortality means Mario could just pull a Mammoth Mogul and outlive Sonic (Mario being able to survive and fight without paint means Sonic has literally no hope of killing him beforehand, and even if he somehow did, Mario just comes back with 1-Ups/extra lives, which have been acknowledged as canonical things numerous times. And thanks to Mario 64 we know that after collecting 1000 coins [And this has been acknowledged later as an actual thing, not just a glitch], which Paper Mario has absolutely done, dying actually causes your lives to increase, not decrease) speed is practically moot, as both are Immeasurable. And both have stamina so ridiculously high that it shouldn’t really come into play either

Actually that song was commissioned for another series that is currently no longer continuing but the point is that in the episode Archie Sonic won but he didn't directly kill Paper Mario.

@@zaxstarkaijein Well, in Sonic X, Dr Eggman mentions that the Ark charged with the Chaos Emeralds (which also fuel Super Sonic) would cause an explosion more massive than a supernova upon crashing on earth. This shows that the combined power of the Emeralds is a lot greater than the sum of its individual powers, meaning Super Shadow was handicapped in Shadow vs Ryuko. Super Sonic has defeated Time Eater and Solaris, both of which were capable messing up with the entire universe. There is also Darkspine Sonic defeating Erazor Djinn, who would rewrite am entire reality, but I don't know if that can be directly compared to Super Sonic. It is also worth noticing that Sonic's speed was enough to break him out of Null Space, undo Time Eater's time erasure and mess up Eggman's pocket dimension in IDW, so game Sonic might have inmeasurable speed like his Archie counterpart. I've also been told that the Chaos Emeralds were used to move constelations and that the Egg Wizard (final boss of Sonic Rush Adventure) was capable of destroying 2 universes, but never truly confirmed it.

Yoooo, Super Smackdown track. Anyways, lets check this one. It starts very slow, but then it picks up. I can hear that one Paper Mario track in here, which I enjoy. However... there's something I do not like at all. Track's too short. The intro takes way too much time, and the track itself feels short. I like the solo but it ain't nothing too much out of the ordinary. I think what I enjoy the most from this track is that one Paper Mario OST in here. After all, it's for Super Smackdown, so it complements itself. Looking forward to the episode.
In terms of Archie Sonic MUs, I'm mixed... He technically already had his best one but I'm not sure which is his best alt. And Paper Mario is... tricky. He could be as well normal Mario from what we know, with Paper Jam's Mario being an alternative universe Mario. It's a tricky position.
