Watching this on my nexus 7 2013 XD I think it's aged very well. I'm loving it! Actually, it has the snapdragon 600, but it's underclocked so Google just markets it as an s4 pro. It's extremely fast and smooth, hands down one of the fastest tablets right now (only outdone by the Google edition LG g pad)
+Relentless-Bulletstorm88 I got it for my birthday in 2013 & I'm still so surprised how well it's holding up after so long! I'd still definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a small tablet :)
Google has changed the way we look at cheap devices. The Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013), Moto X, and Moto G (I might have missed one or two) are all amazing devices, and can hang with devices with double, or even triple the price tag, and are all very affordable. Maybe even underpriced. You can't argue against that.
Eddie Rosado In North America. Us in the rest of the world? Well, Nexus devices are just about as expensive as any other device out there. We don't even have Motorola's newer devices.
Eddie Rosado Yup. It's totally fun seeing every carrier here in Australia market the Nexus 5 as a post-paid ON CONTRACT device. Want to buy it outright, but not from Google or as a grey import? $700.
Going strong after several months. Fastest tablet I have used. Great for gaming. It tells you something when your sons 9 year old ipad bearing friends drool over the Nexus 7 .times have certainly changed.
Jon-Michael McMasters well, actually, they says all those stuff on the Pocketnow eeklym listen to it, it's like the 1 and a half hours of pocketnow insider
I wish that were true. If you look in Google Groups you will be flooded with complaints(Mine included) about the touch issues of this device. Also, the new KitKat version has broken rotation, so you can't move the tablet from portrait to landscape.
My black 32gb nexus 7 came in the mail today and it is amazing, I have a nexus 4 and the cheaper Asus transformer pad and the screen is so much brighter than my nexus 4 and I never thought my nexus 4 was slow until now. Can't wait to see what Google has instore for us in the future
2012 Nexus 7 running CyanogenMod 11=Pure Awesomeness (Great job Taylor Martin, you're doing an excellent job over there at Pocketnow.) Happy New Year!!!
i got myself a Nexus 7 2013 LTE just a few weeks ago. i love it, but 2 things are negatives one should be aware of before buying (i did the research before and i still decided for it because its Pros still seem to outweigh the Cons) 1: NO SD card Slot, you get 32GB and that is it (24 really, because the OS is on there too) (i heard that google is doing this because they want you to use their online storage stuff more... in theory not a problem, but once you are mobile, outside of your WLANs range, you need the expensive LTE version for any Internet and mobivle internet traffic is usually a limited volume or simply expensive... not a very customer friendly approach if you ask me). 2: Battery life depends highly on your use, i can empty the device in 3-4 hours, just displaying Battlefield 4's Battlescreen via Chrome Browser (it gets very hot doing that too, not sure if i should blame the software or the device here). The thing that really bothers me is that i can plug in the loading cord while using the Battlescreen and the battery will still be empty in ~5 - 6 hours, despite the battery LOADING in that time! Bonus QQ: i am not impressed with this Google Playstore, there is no order, no categories for anything, just "games" and "apps" and even if you click on Apps you still get spammed with crappy GAMES everywhere. Also, seriously how many "flashlight" Apps does one person need? You have to know what you are looking for and use the search function, simply browsing the store and finding good stuff is rare.
Amazing tablet for an amazing price. Asus made a really good job, and I'm not considering the camera because it's an "extra". I love the back finish and the display it's just gorgeous. There are no tablets (including iPad Mini retina) which make me regret of my choice, at least right now.
The S4 Pro in the Nexus 7 uses Krait 300 cores like the 600. Its a under clocked 600. The display has THE MOST accurate color reproduction of any mobile device period. Its also 1200p not just 1080p.
I walked into Officeworks tonight to buy paper and saw they were selling the class one!" display model of the 32gb Nexus 7 (2013) for $150. How do you pass up a deal like that!
Got my new Nexus 7 for Christmas, such an awesome device, and i love the size of it especially for reading comics and general garbage like Reddit. Only complaint with it isn't even directed at the tablet, but at the case i got for it, which is the Poetic Slimline case, which doesn't fit super snugly on the tablet along the right edge, and as such has a tendency to flex and squeak when pressed. Rather annoying, and will just keep the case for travel, but will likely not use it when around the house
I love the nexus 7 but I'm waiting for the nexus 7 2 question does the white ones back have that same texture and feel as the black one? I've wondered this for the nexus 5 also. Thanks
Going to repeat everyone else here... The N7 utilizes the Krait 300 in its SoC, unlike the N4's Krait 200 (both of course use the SoC named *Snapdragon S4 Pro* - essentially making the N7 an underclocked *Snapdragon 600*.
Why do all the reviewers bang on about the nexus 7 having the S4 pro instead of the 600 or 800? It is technically the Snapdragon 600, just clocked at 1.5ghz not 1.7ghz, not hard to stick the clock rate up if so desired.
Going to disagree with you where you said that the stock android UI is better suited for phones not tablets, the extra relastate on tablets allows for better use of stock UI for widgets and the like. On smaller screen phones a custom launcher with less "extras" (dock, staursbar etc) is what I prefer. My phones custom skin has one screen and uses gesture to open various widgets and folders in order to fit more in a smaller area.
I am so looking forward to the 2014 Nexus 7 !!! Google really got a good foothold in tablet technology with the 2013 model Nexus 7. I would like to see a hexa-core or an octo-core processor using the latest ARM big.Little architecture. At least 4 cores of ARM Cortex-A57 clocked at maybe 2.4Ghz and at least 2 cores of ARM Cortex-A53 clocked at maybe 1.2 GHz with at least 8GB of RAM because 64-bit computing doubles the memory usage. I'd also love to have at least 150 Gflops of GPUCompute performance and at least 64GB of internal storage and a micro SDXC slot. An improved Slimport capability and the latest 802.11AC WiFi. It would be worth the extra money. Asus and Google really pleased me with their 2013 Nexus 7. I really like using it.
Hey Taylor, did you have any touch sensitivity issues with yours at all, I just got mine but sometimes it doesn't register my touch, and the rest of the tablet seems fine
I have a question I currently have a Nexus 5 but I want to get a tablet tbh size isn't really an issue but I am on the fence to get the Nexus 7 32 GB off amazon or a 16 GB Nexus 9. I would love to get the Nexus 9 but the cost is bringing me down, I don't have a lot of money and 16 GB is to little for me but everything from the Nexus 9 seems great so what should I do?
Get the 7. It's almost out of the 18 month update window, but you'll still get Lollipop. The 9 isn't any better, other than size and the tap-to-wake feature, but those are the only differences. It's definitely worth it for the specs and price
Michael Nelson The 7 still has the highest PPI, it doesn't have light bleeding on the screen, its affordable for the specs even still, it displays colors much better and has a way better price than the 9. The 9 isn't any better except for the camera. It gives when you push on the back, which definitely tells you something. It's poorly made, and costs way too much for what you get
Michael Nelson I just proved you wrong.... why are you continuing? And you just went against the 9 then said it was better.... 6 inches is pretty far away, I wouldn't notice the pixels from 6 inches anyways. Its just a bigger copy of the 7
Michael Nelson You did go against it: 'It performs like a beast. Unlike the N7' ' it is better than thew N7 in every way'. I never said the 9 wasn't better, I just said it wasn't an improvement. Its not different, is all I was saying. And I'm not being ignorant. Do you even know what that means?
Michael Nelson Why would you be going against the 9? I never said you did. I thought you meant the 7. And no, you obviously don't know what ignorant means if you used it wrong
Mine went back with screen not responding, google didn't want to help because I got it from Argos and not direct. Tried loads to get it going but just wouldn't register my fingers. Great machine but there is a lot of people with the screen issues. On the flip side my son has the older version and that still works great. Afraid to say I got a ipad mini with retina and am loving that, I'm not a fanboy as alway had android, still have a nexus 7 older version, samsung tab 3, 3 kindles. However I think android is spoiling it with all the adverts now. I even changed to Nokia 1020 phone from my nexus 5.
Pocketnow The Soc is actually Snapdragon 600 , its has been underclocked and rebranded as S4 Pro to be a cheaper alternative to the regular S600 but under the badge its a full Snapdragon 600 chip. Why they do the "bait and switch" with that Michael Fisher intro just to end up with a Taylor Martin video? (rethorical question) I appreciate how Jaime makes it clear which videos he is in and would like the others in the team to do the same.
Taylor Martin My apologies, this is my first time watching one of these. Anyway, it would be appreciated if you guys make a personalized 'video thumbnail" denoting who is in the video (like Jaime does).
i want an android tablet now and i'm confused what should i pick the nexus 7 was my 1st choice but after knowing it lacks micro sd slot i'm lost ................
Morbuzka I have not tried that. You could test it for yourself with cyanogenmod. I wouldn't want any idle temp above 32C or any at-load temp above 40C.
Looks like a dead pixel is a common issues found on an Asus Product. Just recently bought an Asus notebook A46C. After less than a month of usage, then showing 1 dead or (maybe stuck) pixel. Unfortunately their guarantee policy only covers minimum of 3 Dead pixel spots. Asus should be more concern about this issue or they will suffer lost of customer trust in the future..
Not bad, I think that the 2014 edition running Android 5.0 powered by a Tegra 5 or SD 1000 or whatever the best processor is at that time will be the greatest ARM-based tablet in existence. This one is great but I'm not interested because it doesn't have a Tegra 4 or SD 800. Either way, i still believe W8 pro is the best platform for tablets at the moment just because it does everything i look for in a tablet, but not everyone's the same as me. I love the power of x64-based processors in tablets right now but for multimedia and touch-optimized stuff, i'd love Android, better yet, dual-booting!! For now i think i'll think i'll just stick with my Venue 8 pro.
Look up the weight in the specs then fill a measuring jug with the ammount of grams in ml. For example the tab is 200 grams and your measuring jug is 80 grams, you have to fill the measuring jug with 200 - 80 = 120 grams = 120 ml of water.

True love mines too!
Hopefully you don't develop the touchscreen issues that the cheap hacks at ASUS didn't even mention.
Correct
2016 and I'm still using this tablet! One of the most future proof devices I've ever used.
same
+Relentless-Bulletstorm88 same here, best buy I ever made.
I definitely agree! Marshmallow runs so smoothly on it too!
Niki Vaghela I got one for my birthday last year and its one of the best devices I have ever had the pleasure of using, I love it!
+Relentless-Bulletstorm88 I got it for my birthday in 2013 & I'm still so surprised how well it's holding up after so long! I'd still definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a small tablet :)

i still have my 2012 nexus 7 on android 4.4.2 and im still using it, no need to upgrade!
Typing from my Nexus 7 2013, this has been great so far!!!!!! So happy!
I just bought one of these, and I love it!!!
this thing is still holding its own going into 2016
My grandma still uses one in 2019. She got it in mid 2014.

TM appeared as a surprise after MF's voice lol
well, I mean, we all know that TM is the only one with Nexus 7 in the Pocketnow team, soooo00000000000000000000oooooooooooooo000000000000
joshepleminh1998 I didn't know that, that's weird that you know that lol
joshepleminh1998 ***** has a Nexus 7, as well.
Jon-Michael McMasters well, actually, they says all those stuff on the Pocketnow eeklym listen to it, it's like the 1 and a half hours of pocketnow insider
Taylor Martin Right, right, he just did a video on the verizon thing, right, forgot. MY BADDDD
I can't see any nexus 7 user complaining, THAT is how awesome it is
I wish that were true. If you look in Google Groups you will be flooded with complaints(Mine included) about the touch issues of this device. Also, the new KitKat version has broken rotation, so you can't move the tablet from portrait to landscape.
ThatGuyWithNoHead its because people complain only when something is bad. i have no such problems with my nexus 7 so far
ThatGuyWithNoHead I upgraded to kitkat and everything is still smooth and working, no idea what could have caused that on yours hope you fix it
My black 32gb nexus 7 came in the mail today and it is amazing, I have a nexus 4 and the cheaper Asus transformer pad and the screen is so much brighter than my nexus 4 and I never thought my nexus 4 was slow until now. Can't wait to see what Google has instore for us in the future

That moment when you think: "Where is Michael Fisher?"
"mediocore hardware" it's still bloody fast, I came from an iPad 1 so it was amazingly fast for me
i got myself a Nexus 7 2013 LTE just a few weeks ago.

How many flashlight apps do you need? None on the Nexus 7
Running my Nexus 7 black 2013 32gb with Nexus 5 launcher and transparent bars top and bottom like Nexus 5... love this boss tab
Got my nexus 7 and love it, especially the portability and screen quality
Watched this on my 2013 nexus 7. Its a great tablet and recommend it to everyone.
These videos are great and informative. Thanks guys!
Jaime Rivera makes the best After The Buzz videos. Period.
I agree I bought this at the end of August and it still works beautifly
Still love my nexus 7 2nd gen. Saw it on sale on black friday for 189$. Now that was a deal!
This tablet is still going for me 🙌🙌
So few people do this...thanks a bunch!!
Amazing tablet for an amazing price. Asus made a really good job, and I'm not considering the camera because it's an "extra". I love the back finish and the display it's just gorgeous. There are no tablets (including iPad Mini retina) which make me regret of my choice, at least right now.
I have the 2013 Nexus 7 with 32GB internal storage and I really enjoy it. It's an EXCELLENT tablet for the price.
I just picked one up, used for $100
Love these video, love all pocketnow videos as a matter of fact.
perfect timing for this tablet. thanks
The S4 Pro in the Nexus 7 uses Krait 300 cores like the 600. Its a under clocked 600. The display has THE MOST accurate color reproduction of any mobile device period. Its also 1200p not just 1080p.
After the buzz is always great 👍
Ordered Nexus 7 and enjoyed your presentation---nice job!!
Hey same here!
Good to know there are others still buying this tablet after a year.
How is the SD600 mediocre? 🙅
It's sub hardcore next to the 800/801
I just got one of these yesterday (gotta love gitftcards for christmas) and man do I love it so far. Funny that this came out the next day haha.
I walked into Officeworks tonight to buy paper and saw they were selling the class one!" display model of the 32gb Nexus 7 (2013) for $150. How do you pass up a deal like that!
Can you guys make a playlist with all After the Buzz episodes?
Hey parking now please continue to do follow up videos on pass products I think it's very helpful for those looking at buying for themselves
Sorry pocket now, that's what happens when you use speech to text
are you kidding me? I WAITED FOR THIS MOMENT FOR MORE PRICE DROP! I am still getting the NEXUS 7 2013 EDITION BWAHAHA
My nexus 7 is in the post rights now... can't wait!
The Nexus 7 is my first Android device without a dead pixel :D
Got my new Nexus 7 for Christmas, such an awesome device, and i love the size of it especially for reading comics and general garbage like Reddit. Only complaint with it isn't even directed at the tablet, but at the case i got for it, which is the Poetic Slimline case, which doesn't fit super snugly on the tablet along the right edge, and as such has a tendency to flex and squeak when pressed. Rather annoying, and will just keep the case for travel, but will likely not use it when around the house
when is the nexus 5 - after the buzz coming out?
Where do you guys get all of those beautiful wallpapers?
Pocketnow would you still recommend a 2013 nexus 7 for a cheap tablet option?
Mine came in the mail a few days ago; it's fantastic!. Glad I got the black one though; the white model strikes me as extremely unsightly.
I love the nexus 7 but I'm waiting for the nexus 7 2 question does the white ones back have that same texture and feel as the black one? I've wondered this for the nexus 5 also. Thanks
Certainly, with the extra large North-South bezels, it would be little effort for Asus to transpose the speakers to the front, alike HTC One.
Going to repeat everyone else here...
The N7 utilizes the Krait 300 in its SoC, unlike the N4's Krait 200 (both of course use the SoC named *Snapdragon S4 Pro* - essentially making the N7 an underclocked *Snapdragon 600*.

Nice job Taylor! Completely off subject. .where did you get that band for your Pebble watch?
Joe's picture with the video, michael's intro and taylor's video. hehe
Teamwork FTW!!
Agree
I'll still love my original nexus 7! 😁
What's the folder on the right with the transparent background in 2:32 ?
Still a awesome tablet.. Lollipop+N7 2013 sweeeeeeeeet like new :)
Now Marshmallow+N7 2013, its still so perfect
I am so looking forward to the 2014 Nexus 7 !!!
Google really got a good foothold in tablet technology with the 2013 model Nexus 7. I would like to see a hexa-core or an octo-core processor using the latest ARM big.Little architecture. Google has already confirmed that there won't be another Nexus 7 this year
Instead, they are launching the Nexus 8
after all the updates i still get some wi-fi problems now and then with my nexus 7 2013.
Hey Taylor, did you have any touch sensitivity issues with yours at all, I just got mine but sometimes it doesn't register my touch, and the rest of the tablet seems fine
I have Samsung note 2 and I am still using it. It's really nice and I find it better than note 3 tab.

Just wondering if you have had any issues with the touch screen thanks..
Where did you get that wallpaper from? Please let me know. Thanks!!!!
How long can you game continuously on battery?
Totally agree with the dead pixels.
Would you still suggest a Nexus 7 2013 now? I'm thinking of selling my N10 for one..
did you get one by now? is it still viable?
Yeah I traded my N10 for one and I couldn't be happier! The N7 is awesome! No regrets Orphis
Nath Ward ty for the answer!
*Nexus 7 from Google (7-Inch, 32 GB, Black) by ASUS (2013) Tablet only $259,99 and FREE SHIP>>*amzn.to/1C6hPk2
lary luxs now it is $229
Semi-related. I think.
How do you find using the charge card opposed to a cable for USB charging?
I have a Thunderbolt Chargecard, but it's only useful in a pinch, really.
*using nexus 7,a great device to use*
*Still one of the best tablets you can have right now*
I've moved on from the 7" form factor. I think it's just shy of ideal - 8" definitely feels a lot comfier when it comes to using a tablet.
The screen is a little past 1080p btw, its 1920x1200, nbd doe
I'm thinking about getting myself a nexus 7 2013 is it worth getting
To be clear the chipset is a snapdragon 600 variant. That's why it outperforms most S4 pro devices.
Watching this on my N7 🙋 Am I the only one who thinks the N10 seriously needs a remake
Pocketnow The Soc is actually Snapdragon 600 , its has been underclocked and rebranded as S4 Pro to be a cheaper alternative to the regular S600 but under the badge its a full Snapdragon 600 chip.

I'm in Trigonometry right on my Nexus 7 and I can't stay off it.
Why they do the "bait and switch" with that Michael Fisher intro just to end up with a Taylor Martin video? (rethorical question)
I appreciate how Jaime makes it clear which videos he is in and would like the others in the team to do the same.
We use the same intro for every video in the ATB series. We've done it 26 times to date. It's not "bait and switch", but rather a uniform intro.
Taylor Martin My apologies, this is my first time watching one of these.
Anyway, it would be appreciated if you guys make a personalized 'video thumbnail" denoting who is in the video (like Jaime does).
Watching this on my nexus 7...! ☺
how good is the battery life
When will the 2014 version come out
Watching this on my nexus 7.
can you please compare this with the Dell Venue 7? Thanks
Where did u get that blue and grey wallpaper?
I love this device!
i want an android tablet now and i'm confused what should i pick the nexus 7 was my 1st choice but after knowing it lacks micro sd slot i'm lost ................
What icon pack is that at 2:25? Please tell me! Its gorgeous
Technically speaking, the 2013 N7 uses an S600 SoC that is just underclocked. It was marketed as an S4, but it really isn't.
So, would it be safe to clock this up to stock speed, or would the heat be dangerous or detrimental to the device?
Morbuzka I have not tried that. You could test it for yourself with cyanogenmod. I wouldn't want any idle temp above 32C or any at-load temp above 40C.
Can you Do a Review on The Samsung Galaxy Rush?
The processor is actually a rebranded Snapdragon 600.
More like the Snapdragon 600 being a re-branded S4 Pro
Would anyone still recommend it now? I'm looking for a tablet for college and haven't found anything better.
it's great, I'm still using mine.
Yep definitely, better than the Nexus 9 IMO

I just recently got my Nexus 7 (2013). By the way, what is that game that he is playing at 5:47?
Badland
White nexus 7 looks damn good....
How does one get to the feature at 3:47?
Hey can someone please tell me the name of the wallpaper he is using on the the Nexus 7 2013??
Is there a household item that could be compared in weight to this? I've heard that it's light, but I want to feel how light
Look up the weight in the specs then fill a measuring jug with the ammount of grams in ml. For example the tab is 200 grams and your measuring jug is 80 grams, you have to fill the measuring jug with 200 - 80 = 120 grams = 120 ml of water.
I love my nexus 7
Any word when a new 10" is coming?
