Awesome, I’m doing the same thing. My 06 GTX supercharged blew up it was gonna cost me $4,000 for an engine (too expensive) or the hull was going to the crusher. But now I’m putting a 951 DI into it since I have a bunch of spare parts from my RXDI. Please keep us up to date on this Frankenstein project.
That is so awesome. Its a cool project but so far no major complications. I am curious to see how you mount the engine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
@@SeadooRefurb Thanks I will keep you updated. The goal with engine mount is to use current engine mounts and bend some thick stainless bars to mounting points of engine PTO mounts together (not fiberglassing in new mounts in the rear). For the center mag mount, I cut the fiberglass mounting point out of the RX DI and will probably fiberglass it in or add a thick metal bar too. I’d like suggest you use a GTX DI drive shaft from your parts bin vs the RX drive shaft since it’s a little longer and would push that engine more aligned with rear mounts. And last, if you still have the RX rear pump mount housing (black part on the hull), you might be able to install it and then you have VTS trim available. That’s a heavy hull and my 03 GTX DI seriously needs VTS to get that heavy front nose from creating more water drag maybe even add a few MPH. Just a thought. This is my winter project.
Ha..Too funny. I am planning to do that. I sprayed it out once but then removed more parts. It will get a full clean once I finish before the engine install.

Back story I purchased to skis about two weeks ago never owned any 0 knowledge might have done a few boo boos I those first days of owning them I scared the web and I can say I think Iliana know a lot more now but am still pulling my hair with this sky I can’t get it to start ! When I purchased I didn’t start so obviously it help me to knock the price down it had a low battery at that time and first mistake I use my jump box to starter and still nothing, then I got home and in the next few day I tried to start it with the jumper add starter fluid and it did start for minor periods. Second mistake I didn’t know at that time that I had to start sky then water. Then water off then sky! I was trying to start it with the hose on and then of I was all over the place. Then I learn the cycle and said oh oh 😕 then I decided to buy a new battery because I learn that jumping the unit could damage the computer . So battery came in installed it connected my hose water off cranked it and boom sky fired right up turned the water on and I felt the idle was having issues felt to low so I started reving it a bit it satayed on for about 40 seconds to a minute and all of asl sudden I hear this grinding noice and. Off it goes and I haven’t been able to start it since then I check compression is like 120 both I check spark I see spark I added fuel in the carb and nothing it just cranks and cranks I’m thinking I might damaged the computer with the jump box but it did start once with the new battery?? Hey man that more than a project! Nice! Just a suggestion why not deep clean the hull now that everything is out of the way ?

Another question? When rebuilding a rotax does it need sleeves or when are they needed?
You can go as much as 1.0 over and then you need new sleeves.
@@SeadooRefurb and if the cylinder walls look fine can it be just re-ring or it’s recommended to bored them or just honed ?
