Well done Cam, last night in Paris you proved yourself to the world, love your approach and will use this to further my masters swimming journey, 73 years old this year. There are so many swimmers that give up and hate the pool, throwing away their health insurance. When you get to my age health is number one, that means strength and fun. You are an inspiration, God bless, kind regards Alex in Norway.
If anyone was going to change the face of swim sprinting in Australia it was going to be The Professor. So proud of you Cam ❤
Cam has always technically been one of the very best. That underwater footage of the 50 from trials in Adelaide was nuts…
Cam’s training regimen could be a breakthrough in swimming science. Will be watching to see if other nations begin to devise similar training regimes.
I can’t believe more people haven’t viewed this. It’s a must for all elite sports.
Excited for Paris, impressive Mr. Mcevoy
And now an OLYMPIC CHAMPION, the words are beyond remarkable
I love the feeling of swimming at max speed
Incredible interview, that's a Ph.D. thesis in sprinting.
Not sure i got all details (french here) but it was very instructive. His approach (training at race speed) seems so obvious when compared to athletics. The guy is so brilliant ! and the swimming world so conservative ?
Great dude, so cool to see someone have the courage to go their own way. A great example of "if you love something let it free" and it took him to a whole new place. Awesome to see. Congrats Cam
So happy Cam has had an amazing comeback and the philosophies that you all speak about preparing and changing everything up to experiment is so true for life
Mr McEvoy HAS indeed come back, I wish he would make a come back for the hundred, I dont think he is too old for next year!
Best one yet!! Loved this interview! There's sooo much to take away from this
Magnificent insightful interview and I think the blueprint for this even has been found. Indoor rock climbing skills massively strengthen the fingers and thereby used with swimming biomechanics improve the effectiveness and efficiency for a sprint swimmer.
Hope Cam breaks the WR in paris!!!
I love the famous science photo behind him.
The professor!
Love the fact ye fleshed out nay sayers, he doesn't want to do the distance and swims as he does! Love it!
Yes, as Brett stated, we are all different, and as we age what once worked may no longer be best or can be built upon.
Been waiting for this one!
McEvoy makes an interesting argument comparing force-application in track and swimming and drawing implications for longevity.
can not wait to seee this heard a lot about his training seems to work
He should compare notes with Michael Andrew. Similar training philosophies.
Train fast to race face. Specificity… we all know it but some are scared to go against the masses. Brett Hawke keep pushing the revolution 👍
So thrilled for Cam that he’s back and firing again. Awesome
Thanks Brett I'll watch the rest when I get home
Wow, I loved that. Was wishing it wouldn't end.
Just a fantastic interview, Brett, Michael and Cam ! Questions and responses all around! Loved hearing links to track sprinting and gymnastics , I've wondered why these have seldom if ever been mentioned much before in general public discussions about swimming. And, the historic VOLUME aspect. I will use these new (for me) pearls wisdom in my swimming. Older swimmers like myself just enjoy the challenge of trying to get faster. THANK YOU, FELLOWS!
Around the 22min mark they discuss their training method of speed training for racing, and with Brett stating Cam's method seems to be the one on the top. Cam after winning the 2024 France Olympic Gold medal 2024 said he'll share his experience to whoever needs the help.......Queensland, Australia with Brett and Michael will benefit with their experience of sitting down with Cam to share the notes......what was said at the 2024 Olympics, why are the Aussies so good at swimming......come 2032, Cam would have hopefully shared his experience, look out the world.
This podcast is bether gran gold! Thanks guys
Great coming-soon !
tomorrow
Im looking forward to see this !
its excellent
Will be interesting to see the applications of this approach in other strokes and how it can be modified to suit the 100.
Or the 200. I am going to try this as a 200 IMer.
You’ve changed things, forever! There is no going back! The Joker in The Dark Knight movie, 2008.
Cam we need a proper documentary and book once this is all done. Thanks.
Only after he retires 😅
@@ozgal6929 He's already revealing too much.
@@XDF745 yes I agree
Sounds like a more sophisticated version of what Lars Frolander did years ago. Lots of dryland, and no more than about an hour a day in the pool.
The professor 💪🏼
I want to see Cate Campbell or Emma McKeon do this and keep going until Brisbane 2032
Cameron McEvoy PhD in sprinting
I totally agree with Cam, because once I did like the same volume for speed, and suddenly I got a lot better without even knowing it, I did like 20 x 25 all out and that was the whole session, but now after hearing Cam I can understand it
Dig that pic from the Solvay Conference in the background
This is such a great story in so many ways! This approach to training isn't just for sprinting. Training at race speed works for every distance. (The fastest pace you train at IS your race speed!) As a culture, we have a very blunted understanding of how to develop and measure strength. Strength is far more nuanced than a max deadlift or bench press. A lot of guys who can back squat a lot of weight can't perform a single pistol squat, so how useful is that specific kind of strength? Cam's example of difficulty with a back lever is right on. There's a lot we can learn from the straight arm and compound strength of gymnasts. I think it's far trickier to compare swim training to athletics training. The context and variables are totally different so work volume and recovery just aren't easily comparable. Plyometric training, on the other hand, has direct application to swimming, IMO. Anyway, is great to see the traditional dogma being challenged and dismantled.
Aerobic high volume training for a 20 second 100% anaerobic effort makes no sense.
I think he could go 20.7-20.8 if he had Dressel's vertical jump (106 cm).
now imagine if dressel does this and just focuses on the 50
Def could be sub 21
It’s probably more likely that it’ll be someone no one expects
@@nickw4999AKA Cam McEvoy 😂
Exactly. Caesar Cielo already said that Caeleb would get the 50 record if he didn't swim so many other events.
But Cam is now much faster on the surface than Caeleb, while Caeleb's first 15 meters could still be the best. Would love to see them go at it together.
What yardage did he do? How many are warmup, cooldown, sprinting, drills, aerobic, kick? And how would that change if i was training for 100 butterfly?
They are not going to give you a blueprint dude seriously. Cam ís still competing and you were bléssed to get this much of a heads up. He is not going to give all his secrets away.
do a podcast with Cody miller
Cam how do you train your dynamic speed in the gym?
By doing velocity based training. Low weight explosive movement
Michael//..46? WOW still a kid, why dont you go show em while ur still young mate..seriously if you had not suffered inujury it is hard to know what scales you might have scaled! I know Brett was a GOOD swimmer, there have been MANY GOOD swimmers, not many that are genuinely special though.
Yoga ❤...no gain in bringing thw wrong body 2 the pool😊
Pretty sure Bruno trains like this too.
Really?
The premiere is too late. 🥹 Gonna have to wait until tomorrow.
