Last weekend, one of Newton's coworkers flew to New Orleans for a brief holiday and stopped by our shop to rent bikes. She was very interested in Bromptons so I demonstrated how to fold the Brompton, roll it folded, unfold, etc. When she said she had a good friend at JFK that took Bromptons everywhere, I asked if she was referring to Newton. With a look of shock, she said YES! then texted him. Goes to show how small the world really is.
Hey Man! We just met last week! Great to see you on here birthday buddy! Hope all is well and see you on the next Brompton ride in the city! Cheers, Great Video!
Love this video! Have anyone ever encountered problems when carrying your Brompton as carry-on luggage? Does it always fit in the overhead? Will it fit under the seat? Security screening issues? Seems almost too good to be true. ;-)
Hello from Faenza , a little place above Mid Italy , congratulations for the video , can you enumerate some of the companies which allowed bringing Brompton onboard ?
when it fit tin the overhead compartment.. that was super cool..If a bike like this should appear in front of you pull it down toward your face. unfold your own bike first b4 attempting to help others
How do you travel with your Brompton as a ' carry on ' when the limit is usually 7kg and they weight around 12kg. I travel frequently and have never seen more than 7kg limit ? Cheers .....
Thanks for sharing. Nice video. Very inspiring. Can I ask how you claim your Brompton? As a carry on or like a baby trolley? What you told to the airline. I really want to try but afraid that when I'm checking in and the airline said...you have to load it as a sport equipment and I didn't prepare any box 😅
Hello sir! Im goin to Manila, I have a Brompton, and Im gonna do what u did to avoid fees. but my question is, If i bring another bike a road bike wrapped it in a carton 30lbs less check it as luggage. I’ll still be good, no fees RIGHT?
Since retiring I got a backpack and found SkyScanner and for the last seven years have flown all over world NOT ONCE did I ever see a folding bike being checked in, on the carousel or anyone attempting to take it on a plane. I also having often hired bikes locally never ever saw one on my travels. I accept Brompton is a good bike and I can see how it brings riders together bu don't bull shit us with this advert. I even with only a 30L compact backpack often got snide remarks, was told at final check in it would have to go in storage and pay for doing so and on one flight from Hungary found it had been put on another plane. So the idea unless I worked for American Airlines, or being filmed when travelling on one by a team hired by Brompton to film Newton - I very much believe and would expect the chance of being put a folder bike into overhead cabin space virtually ZERO.
I agree, in Australia the carry on limit is 7kg and the size limit is 115cm long haul 105cm all other flights. No way can a Brompton be carry on. The non oversize checked limit is 150cm which is the size of a Brompton.
Thank you for the wonderful video. I also traveled to many countries by bicycle, and I always carried bicycles as checked baggage. By the way, you take the bicycle into the plane. How is it possible? Even if I put my bike in my bag, is not it a problem with the x-ray search machine? I have even been confiscated for even bicycle pumps. I would be grateful if you could let me know.
So cool to hear! So, in our experience the security scanner is not an issue as the bike fits through with no problem. We cover the bike with the simple cover bag and are able to pass the ticket counter and board the plane without issue. There is no way to know whether the gate agent or ticket agent may have a problem with it because there are no official policies about it at the moment. But, if you visit bromptonmafia.com you will see that people travel with the bike in the overhead bin as carry on luggage quite often. Wishing you great travels!
I bought last December the NYC Vespertine edition.... I'm loving it. Question is: does a brommie fit in the overhead compartment of every flight? I thought it wouldn't be accepted as a carry on and had to be checked in..
Not every flight, no. Typically international flights are the best chance of fitting. We also recommend covering the bike to make it easier. Check out wwwBromptonMafia.com for lots of inspiration and information about flying with the bike.
Yes! On most international flights you can bring your Brompton onboard and place it in the overhead bin. We recommend putting it in the cover bag to accomplish this most effectively without making a fuss. Of course, it all depends on the airline and the crew as this is not officially mandated. But - it can fit! And what other bike comes close? If you don't want to take the risk, you can always check the bike in one of the hard suitcases made by B&W.
bromptonbicycle but then you have the case to deal with at your destination. It would be great if brompton developed a nice protective bag that fits the bike in folded state, then folds up nice and compact to be taken along on the bike rack. I don’t feel the b-bag fits that description.
We do have basic cover bag that works well for the bike but it doesn't offer much more than some scuff protection. More of a way to hide it than anything else. There's also the B-Bag but that one is a bit bulkier and not so well suited to an overhead bin. We'll have to look into that slightly more padded bag idea - thanks!
Yes! The TSA guys always have a laugh. Fits thru scanners and has fit in every overhead bin I've used. I use a cover at ticket counter, then pack it up when in terminal. Sometimes I just pack it in my travel case, which turns into a trailer.
Olgay Celik If you buy used it’s still massively cheaper than most cars and much more useful and cheaper to run in a city. I can’t afford to run a car.
Share this video with a friend who loves to travel!
This chap, sums up cycling for me, and how the amazing Brompton takes it to a new level….
I've been on flights where I had trouble trying to squeeze a larger laptop bag in the overhead bin. And he had the whole bin to himself!
Because he works for the airlines
Look carefully, and you will see that he is in a premium class. Many airline staff get to turn left when they board because they get discounts.
Love this video! Always a pleasure when Newton stops by the shop :)
Purple Haze baby! Absolute stellar video! This is exactly what a Brompton was made for! What a life!
Great inspiration, Newton! Congratulations! I organize Brompton tours in my own town, Barcelona. Great experience!
Last weekend, one of Newton's coworkers flew to New Orleans for a brief holiday and stopped by our shop to rent bikes. That’s my buddy Newton, met him the day I bought my Brompton, this video is FACT! Brompton unites. Cool video just shared it on my Facebook page.
Hey Man! We just met last week! Great to see you on here birthday buddy! Hope all is well and see you on the next Brompton ride in the city! Cheers, Great Video!
Met Newton at the past USA championship, class act!!
*I love the **Latest.Bike** I use it when going camping. It folds up so easy and isn’t heavy at all. Rides so smooth. I love my bike!*
This is BRILLIANT!
Loved this video.
Totally sincere, original and utterly genuine.
Thank you Newton.
You said everything that I wanted to say, and you said it first!
Excellent video Newton. I love my Brompton and am taking it back to England with me on my return next month.
Great to hear!

How cool is that colour? I am a Brompton fan and this has inspired me to be adventurous with it too!
I really want one!! I dont travel much, but this still seems perfect for just getting around town and being able to easily fold it!
Absolutely Nathan! The Brompton is one of the easiest bikes to take with you wherever you go.
This man rides a Brooks! He's a genius.
Philippines here!! hell yeah!!! ride safe buddy!
Great story. Really inspiring. Keep riding, Newton!
What do most people use to connect with other Brompton riders? This guy has nailed it internationally, would love to know how.
Amei Newton ...Ótimo; Prático e muito versátil... Parabéns
Good luck trying to get it on board as carry on in Europe. Checked luggage and make sure it is well padded!
Incredible video. Safe travels friends!
this guy gets life!!
Great video Newton.
Man...This is a great video. I think I'm getting a Brompton.
Thanks for your kind sharing
Thank you for sharing.
Hello from Faenza , a little place above Mid Italy , congratulations for the video , can you enumerate some of the companies which allowed bringing Brompton onboard ?
Of course it takes a BROTHER
to be riding a _PINK_ Brompton 🎱❤️
Lol
Beautiful! I love my Brompton, too.
Wow! Beautiful ..my dream bike
video from 2018, when people don't need to wear mask and travel whenever and whereever they want...It hits my feeling at 2022
when it fit tin the overhead compartment.. that was super cool..If a bike like this should appear in front of you pull it down toward your face. unfold your own bike first b4 attempting to help others
Fantastic Video, Keep up the good work!

Hello Newton! We meet în Portugal to the Brompton race.I am from Romania.Cheers
Hello from Spain, LOVE my brompton!
Hi Javier! Have you done any trips with your bike?
What a great ambassador
Awesome video and inspiring🤩
So great bike
I'm surprised to see it allowed in a cabin unwrapped. That is full of sharp metal edges that will damage everything around it.
Me, too. Even just allowing the bike onboard. It would be great to hear from Newton about his overall experiences bringing it onboard, good and bad.
great stuff
Damn, I wish my bike can fit to this cabinet.
Can we know more about the logistics of taking the bike on a plane? Is it a carry on? Is there a special fee?
I like his cap 🧢 🙂
Thanks for sharing. Nice video. Very inspiring. Can I ask how you claim your Brompton? As a carry on or like a baby trolley? What you told to the airline. I really want to try but afraid that when I'm checking in and the airline said...you have to load it as a sport equipment and I didn't prepare any box 😅
It's probably best to check with your individual airline before you fly to make sure you follow their policy. Thanks
It's good to know you're allowed a bicycle on a plane, but does that mean you have to pay extra?
Hello sir! Im goin to Manila, I have a Brompton, and Im gonna do what u did to avoid fees. but my question is, If i bring another bike a road bike wrapped it in a carton 30lbs less check it as luggage. I’ll still be good, no fees RIGHT?
I've noticed that the handlebar of his bike is different from the 3 known handlebar types of Brompton bikes.
Did you really put your bike in the overhead storage?
Absolutely! It's very common for Brompton owners to fly with their bikes, carry them on, and pop them into the overhead storage compartment.
Since retiring I got a backpack and found SkyScanner and for the last seven years have flown all over world NOT ONCE did I ever see a folding bike being checked in, on the carousel or anyone attempting to take it on a plane. Honolulu, Hawaii
I want it so badly now. But do the airline really allow you to get it in the cabin ?
Brompton all the way!
But those tiny wheels though?
Do you need to inflat the tyre first before you board the plane?
Thank you for the wonderful video.
I also traveled to many countries by bicycle, and I always carried bicycles as checked baggage.

very nice
Heeyy friend! When you come to Panamá?
is Brompton allowed to enter the aircraft cabin just like in this video?
It would be best to double check with your airline before flying to make sure
What color bike is his? A purple or is it the hot pink?
Hello from Manila!
Hey Mark!!
Great!
😍
Is it really possible tho? To board a plane with a Brompton?

That's what's up!!

A purple bike?
Looks pink to me
✌🏽Brompton
can somebody connect me to Newton Dixon, i just want to make him some Questions about traveling by airplane
I’m surprised you were allowed to put that bike in the overhead cabin. That thing takes up way too much space! That’s too selfish. I wouldn’t do that.
This colour is not available anymore 😪
you gotta use business class at least to fit the bike in the head compartment..
Putting brompton on a plane would not be possible here in Asia lol
such an expensive bike designed for rich people
Olgay Celik If you buy used it’s still massively cheaper than most cars and much more useful and cheaper to run in a city. I can’t afford to run a car.
Asean people bike 20km everyday
different types of "CUZINE"
Birdy bike is better
This colour is not available anymore 😪
