I’m kicking myself for not finding this video sooner. I’ve always wanted to do a French twist but convinced myself that with my long, curly hair it was just not going to happen. After struggling with easily tidying up my hair for 27+ years you’ve taught me how to do it in seconds. This is going to be so useful for work, school, going out, vacations, and working out. Thank you so much!! 😭
Brilliant. I've spent years trying to put my hair, which varies from very long to medium length, into a French twist and concluded it was pretty impossible without help. I've just done it, with the help of your video, in seconds. I'm just off for my 41st Wedding Anniversary lunch with a very professional looking hairstyle!Thank you soooo much! x
Can’t believe it’s so simple and I could never figure it out. I love wearing my hair in a French twist now, Only wish I had figured it out 40 years ago! Thank you
This is probably one of the best tutorials I've seen so far in creating french twists - super informative with various options discussed, including addressing some of the more intricate details for varying lengths. Thank you Kristen, greetings from Singapore. :)
Love this video! I have thick curly long hair and this work just the first time I tried it! I just had to have a major hair trim thanks to dead ends but this will help when my hair grows long again! Thank you so much! I had just about given up getting my hair into that!
Blessings come in doubles; You have: 1) helped me change my mind. Now I have: i)...no desire for scissors; and ii)...no desire hiding greys. Indeed this is a great relief for me. Secondly, You have: 2) helped me seek and enjoy to style my own hair better. Your method: i) is easy to do; and in fact, ii) makes greying hair look elegant. Thank you so much my Lady. May God bless you.😊
Kristen, thank you for sharing a no frills, easy French twist! My hair is not as thick as yours but you were able to show thick and thinner hair! And, I can actually do this now! I'm 56 and it's never too late! Thanks!
I've never been able to do a French twist the traditional way because my hair is pretty thick but your method actually worked. Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Oh, my, GOSH!!! I HAVE TRIED AND TRIED AND TRIED to put my hair in a french twist, and this is SO HELPFUL to even get it started! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I just saw your comment. Thank you! And sorry about the music. As the description says, I formatted this years ago with the music dropping down when I start talking. But on new devices, that doesn't always come through correctly. Watching on something with two speakers helps. But thank you again for the positive comment! Best wishes!
Bless you for this brilliant method! I have thick curly unruly hair and have waded through masses of tutorials without being able to get a decent French twist. Three minutes into your video, I tried it & it worked!
I like the Flexi Clip. I have short hair now but I want to grow it out so I can do this with my hair again. I've found that French twists will hold up ALL DAY without hairspray and look great. I used hair sticks on my hair. If you twist it up while it's damp, then shake it out when it's dry, you get great beach waves.
Yes, love the beachy wave look when I shake out a style like this! There are Flexi-Clips that hold up smaller amounts of hair, like half-ups, so there's probably something that will work for you now. I'm happy to help with sizing if you need it. :)
I'm glad you found it so helpful, Judy! Please let me know if I can help you with Flexi-Clip sizing or choosing any of the other products. Wishing you many beautiful hair days! :)
I’ve never found a video that made doing the French twist simple. I’m finally able to do it with the help of your video. I own a Butterfly Lillarose like the first clip you used. It looks beautiful on my French twist hair. Thank you for the very helpful video!😊
Thank you so much for this video. I suck at doing my own hair, but this was very easy for me to follow. Only thing is I had to use a loose ponytail to do it, but it still worked.
Thank you so much! I have long hair and haven't been able to do this. I love the French twist. Now with your advise I can finally put my hair up like this. Thank you so very much dear. God bless you.
Thanks, Jin! The video was formatted years ago and is supposed to drop down when I start talking. On some new devices that doesn't come through correctly so you can't hear me well. If you can watch on something with two speakers, it should work better for you. Sorry about the inconvenience! Best wishes for lovely hair! :)
Have always loved French Twist but required professional help every time. And now thanks to your two finger trick, my hair looks professionally styled every time I try this up-do by myself. Thanks a ton and keep posting such useful tutorials :)
So glad ive found this post on RUclips. After years of having very short hair I've finally grown my hair long enough to try out this chignon style. I'd always been curious as to how it was created and think its such a sophisticated hair style. My needlework teacher from my schooldays many years ago always wore her hair like this and looked amazing with it. Thank you for explaining the method so clearly. Ive had a couple of attempts so far and im confident i will get better with this technique. All i need now apart from more practice is a suitable hair grip or two.
Thank for making this. Now when I cook at my kitchen and I feal hot, I just do the French twist and use chopsticks on my hair. Now I can style my hair while being efficient in the kitchen
Awesome! Easy and helpful tutorial! I have medium long hair and can't stand to wear it down, but don't have time to put it up in fancy, cute hair dos. My go to has been a bun with a hair elastic. After 8 or more hours, this will eventually give me a headache. I believe this has just become to new go to hairstyle. Cute, professional, and easy!! Thank you.
I'm so happy to hear this was helpful! Yes, the hairstyle headaches from hair ties can be so uncomfortable. Many ladies report that Flexi-Clips eliminate those headaches, so hopefully between a new hairstyle and perhaps a new hair accessory, you can be rid of headaches for good! :)
Nice job....my favorite is with a French side comb holding the roll....looks so pretty with the comb nestled into the edge of the roll. You can also have fun with LOTS of stick-shaped items to hold the roll: pencils look cure in the workplace....chopsticks can be painted and decorated....and big "U" shaped pins placed vertically work, too. I often use several of the shorter "spin pins" as well....VERY SECURE!!! Thanks so much for your tips.(Sorry, but the music is a little loud and is distracting when trying to concentrate on what is being said).
Glad you found something helpful! Unfortunately, the music doesn't drop down in volume for everyone, even though I uploaded it that way. I wish I could fix it, because yes, that would be very distracting!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I’ve tried - and failed - to do a French twist that would stay in place for my entire adult life (I’m 65). This am I followed your method and had my hair up and secured in 5 minutes and it feel secure and looks like a spent hours.
I love it. It is very easy and I try it with a shoulder length hair 💕❤️ i'm so inlove with this kind of french twist 🥰😍 thankyou for the tutorial ❤️ God bless you ❣️
This video absolutely changed my life! This is the best french twist video I have ever seen, I love how you explain everything very thoroughly. Thank you so so much! :)
I have been trying to perfect the French twist for ages. Your video is the best! This works every time, even on my freshly washed hair. Thank you so much.
Excellent tutorial. Me being a male and wanting to try french twist(ofcourse not in public) I felt hard to follow the videos available. This was very cool. Helps for my hair length which is more or less your length
wow thank you. I know I could get it done. I have Rapunzel length hair. I was going to have this style for my daughters wedding earlier this year but the hairdresser couldn't work out how to hide all the ends. Now you have described it I will have a go. ive tried and basically got it up but needed someone to pin it. your describe method is excellent to understand.
I have mid thigh length hair, so i have to practice this to make sure there aint a weird puff up top . But this is the easiest way i have found thank u and may God bless u

Thank you Kristen, this really works and stays put , like others have mentioned I could not hear your voice, but I got the jist of how to do it by watching a few times , Kind Regards elly
Glad it was helpful! Unfortunately, we learned about a formatting issue a couple years after posting this that causes my audio to be hard to hear on newer devices. If you watch on something with two speakers you can hear me much better. Best wishes to you!
I'm sorry the music is distracting. The video was formatted with the music dropping down when I start talking, but on some devices this doesn't come through. I can't change a video once it's uploaded to RUclips, but if you can watch on something with two speakers, you should be able to hear better. I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Best wishes.
Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to post this tutorial. This is the easiest french twist I've ever tried. Works every time and looks great.
Hey, Debra! I doubt you're a moron. :) There are so many variables that could be causing this to not work well for you. Is your hair layered or maybe a little too short?
+Kristen Smith (Smithspirations) it's a bit past my shoulder and it's mostly one length. I have some layers towards the front. I am not sure what I a doing wrong, when I twist it, it doesn't make the nice French twist shape its this weird figure 8 shape and lumpy. I think my hair might be too thick.
Debra, I'm just seeing that I never replied to this a year ago. Yikes! I'm so sorry. If you want to try again, here are some thoughts. Your layers up front can make a French twist in thick hair difficult. They'll probably fall out of the twist. You can still do it, but you'll need bobbies to secure those layers back. When you twist the hair up after making the first loop, you might need to guide your hair up the twist to hide the 8 shape you're getting. That should help smooth it out. Wishing you the best!
Thank you. I am going on a cruise and wondering what to do with my poker straight thin hair. This will work perfect. I just tried it sitting at my desk and it went up beautifully. Thank you
Ah! Thank you! I have been wearing my hair in a french twist to work every day for the past several months, but I could not figure out how to get the ends to stay in. The hair tuck was the step I was missing! Thanks!
Thank you soooooo much!!! You've saved my long thick hair by all means!!! Finally I successfully made a beautiful French Twist with your video after watching thousands!!!
cool...I'm going to try this...my hair is same length as yours and the hair pins, etc. are super cute...I hope it turns out that well...I'm not too good with twisting my hair yet!! Thanks for the help
I've been looking for these hair pieces for a while! So glad I stumbled across this video, I was able to replace one that I got years ago that broke yesterday!
