  • Surveillance technologies like ADS-B make it possible for air traffic employees to “see” beyond their physical line of sight. ADS-B stands for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast. Most airplanes today are equipped with an ADS-B transponder. This device broadcasts the precise location of the aircraft every half-second.
