      Autri Basu And it in fact was. In so many of their debates they talked mainly about how to fix the economy, because at the time, the worst economic disaster since the great depression was occurring and all the news would show was the tumbling stock market and insanely long lines in cities across the country of unemployed people. The country was desperate after the disaster that was the Bush administration and Obama was a shining beacon of hope. I remember at school one day, Bush came on the TV and all my classmates were simultaneously booing him and our teacher actually yelled at us saying, "Even though he is bad, he is still the president. Show some respect". He was that bad. Very different times.

    I didn't notice this when I first watched the debate in 2008 but it's glaringly noticeable now. McCain looked awkward and uncomfortable and a lot of what he said came off sounding like beauty pageant answers. Saying stuff like "I love our veterans and I will take care of them". Obama's answer about veterans laid out problems and how he intends to solve them. He wanted to make disability claims easier for vets, he wanted to spend less money in Iraq and use that money to care for returning vets etc. Obama's answers were very detailed and insightful. This debate made him look a lot more presidential than John McCain in my eyes.

    • @DeMonSpencer
      @DeMonSpencer 9 лет назад

      ***** Yes he says the typical government is bad stuff that most republicans believe but he also names specific people and groups. He's not saying illegal immigration is bad because they shouldn't be here. He says it's bad because they bring crime here. In his announcement speech he said immigrants entering illegally from our southern border (Mexicans) are rapist, murders, and drug dealers. When he talks about the deal with Iran, he says the president and John Kerry are weak and incompetent and that's why we ended up with a bad deal. Those criticisms aren't about big government, they are about people.
      I totally agree with you about his vague policy solutions. He's totally unaware of the limitations imposed on a president, and sadly most of his followers are as well. It's scary to know that one of the most popular candidates for the republican nomination believes he can set tax policy unilaterally on a whim and use it to threaten a company. Every time he says that the crowd cheers like crazy. It's a strange thing to witness.
      Could you imagine the outrage if President Obama called up one of America's largest employers and told them they better do what he wants or he'll make sure they go out of business? It would be a Fox News wet dream.

Oh right, because we want them to help us defeat isis....I remember now, thats why we went there in the first place. What trump said about illegals, is that they dont speak english, they take jobs away from americans, and that we are getting the deviants from mexico as opposed to the brightest
