One of the reasons I think the crowd was sort of silent was that none of the players have a history in that town (there hasn't been time for any "favorites to develop"). Ryan Reaves, David Backes, and Ryan Orielly always got the cheers they did in St. Louis because we all had fond memories of them playing for us.

A lot of rowdier sports fans who make noise and establish being a tough place to play are not upper-middle class yuppies or tech nerds. Seattle lacks a critical mass of blue collar people who put the fear in away teams. Everyone knows your city is a bunch of introverted dorks. I almost took a job there out of college until i saw how expensive it was. I ended up staying east and moved to Philly
Hopefully, the success of the NHL's Kraken will lead to the NBA bringing back the Sonics in Seattle.
It shouldn't lay on the success of brand new NHL Seattle Kraken organization because before relocation to Oklahoma city Seattle Supersonics resume speaks for itself.
@@shawnauddette8199 What I mean is that the Sonics should be brought back as an expansion team with history just like NFL and MLS both did with the Cleveland Browns and San Jose Earthquakes, respectively.
Seattle seems like a place that needs more professional sports teams. The only that comes to my mind naturally are the Seahawks. An NHL team is a great start and a basketball team is a possibility.

Seattle is relatively new to the game. More Canucks fans converting to Kraken fans. Vancouver is really quiet too. Not many stars on Seattle like Vegas had too. I think in a few years it'll be popping like how the Seahawks can get

97 years after the metropolitans left Seattle the the krakens are now Seattle's new team same city with different arena it's not same arena since the metropolitans did.
Very cool video, Jen. It’s funny reading the comments. From someone who was absolutely in the building that night…the crowd was fantastic. They went bonkers for their new team. Unfortunately, that didn’t translate well over the broadcast. Nobody was booing Grubauer…they were chanting GRRUUUUUUU! And I didn’t forget Nathan Bastian’s name, lol. We had a miss communication between our on-ice staff member and the in-game director which caused the pause. When it was corrected she called for Bastian’s name to be called. *listen carefully to the call, you’ll hear a female voice call “14-14” in the background.
I expected more life from the crowd. I’m not mad nor disappointed, but a bit shocked tbh. Then again I heard some bad things like the prices and the food.
It’s Seattle. What else would you expect

The original Winnipeg Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996, Vegas Golden Knights joined the NHL in 2017-2018.
