I think in the wider audience of magic people will find magic aids problematic due to various reason (as someone who subscribes to big daddy) but yeah Nizzahon giving credit where credit is due
@@GigaBoost gods no, he's not discriminatory at all. He just makes a shit ton of sex jokes and prostitution jokes. Watch 1 of his videos and you'll get what I mean.
Makes me so happy to see you give a shoutout to Magic Aids for his 5c humans. I know and understand that he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I still think he deserves a mention for this deck. You're classy as always Nizzahon :)
I voted for this just to see if MagicAids would get a mention. So glad he did. Massively underappreciated dude. Great video and homework man. You rock!
@@alanyuan8565 That's fair. I grew up watching people get decapitated by the taliban on 4chan so a little inappropriate humor is like salt and pepper on a steak for me.
Pioneer currently has two humans builds, BW and GW, with GW being the most prevalent. There was a Bant build more than a year ago, but it didn't have any payoffs other than Lieutenant.
I remember making a Boros Humans/Angels deck, back when the second Innistrad block was out. It had maybe three angels in it. Lots of Human on Human payoffs, but also Human on Angel (and/or vice versa?). It was glorious.
Before building my modern infect deck, my best deck was a monowhite human deck, based around tokens and cards like Imposing Sovereign, champion of the parish and pacifism
One of my friends exclusively plays humans in modern, and in his version of the deck he runs General Kudro. Kudro is exceptional, and neither of us can understand why most other lists don’t play him! Being a lord and a 3/3 on his own makes him an imposing threat, and the additional upside of graveyard hate and potential removal are not meaningless. Great video, Nizzahon!
@@velphidrow so is mantis rider, and many of the creatures in the deck. With all due respect, that reason is bullocks. Recommend you try it out if you play the deck. It’s an exceptional finisher.
@@velphidrow my friend plays a full set of Mantis rider, 3 copies of Reflector mage, 2 (maybe 3) imperial recruiter, and 2 Kudro. I do believe there is another but I don’t have his list memorized. Either way, it’s a great balance, and Kudro more or less acts like a better lieutenant when he comes down. Sure, the pump isn’t permanent, but unless your opponent has an answer, it’s backbreaking.
I feel there should have been made a brief mention to The Walking Dead secret lair human, as the weekend he released Humans managed to completely sweep several legacy MTGO events running a full copy of him. I get that wizards wants to completely bury the most pay to win card in magics history, but that did happen.
Maybe it's the effect of the festive season, or the long work days and lack of sleep, but I think it's pretty cool that only when all the colours of Human start working together can they take on the highest power formats.
Another day, another Nizzahon video… life is good. May I suggest in the decklists you include a total number for each card type? It’s interesting to see which decks run more or fewer lands or creatures (like UW Delver Humans vs GW Humans! Wow!) but it’s hard to tell at a glance and I’m bad at quick math 🧐 Great video!
Humans is a blast to play in EDH. I use Kyler as the commander. He starts a little slow but turns into a steamroller after you get him out. There's lots of ways to make tons of humans, like sunset revelry or call the coppercoats. There's a lot more good humans than you'd think.
Always baffling to me how long it took for humans to be a creature type. Sure, they’re not as fantastical as goblins, elves, or merfolk, but there is still appeal in humans struggling against the world of monsters. Really glad Innistrad capitalized on that.
Mostly because anything that was a human was mostly given a class creature type instead. A human cleric would just be a cleric for example, whereas a merfolk cleric would be a merfolk.
I love these videos but I’m wondering if there’s a way you could add some kind of audio description of the cards you’re showing on screen? I can’t see very well so I can actually read the card descriptions which loses a lot of the content of the video for me 💔
I despise Human decks. Uncounterable threats due to Aether Vial and Cavern of Souls. 5-colour, but with no mana restrictions, since the deck is 36 creatures + 4 Aether vials, so the deck can run a total of 16 lands that come untapped, produce 5 colours, with practically no downside. That fucks around with one of the basic premises of the game - the more colours in your mana base, the more complicated and inconsistent the manabase. Cards like Ancient Ziggurat, Cavern of Souls and the other one from Ixalan just make 5-colour aggro decks way too consistent in terms of mana.
It's kind of a perfect storm of human creatures being so ubiquitous and a few kinda bad lands were printed. Cavern of Souls is indeed stupid but few decks in their right mind would play Ancient Ziggurat and the Ixaland land. It's just enough narrow lands that then reach critical mass and give you access to a massive card pool of powerful cards and tribal payoffs. Even with Vial, Blood Moon punishes 5c humans severely and is good against a lot of other decks!
@@SephonDK not all decks even run red, simply saying "Play Blood Moon lol" solves no issue. If Blood Moon was a 3 cmc colourless artifact sure, you got a point. But you can't suggest colour-locked solutions. I usually bring my Pithing Needles from the SB and name Aether Vial on turn 1 - that usually does the trick.
Because it is far too complicated to cover the format in a video like this. There aren't sanctioned tournaments and such. I would be left with just talking about some guy's human deck, not a deck that defined a format.
It's rare for someone to give magic aids props for their contribution to this archetype, good job
