- The Honor Magic 6 Pro could be the least iPhone-like phone out right now. Its design is very not-Apple, the quad-curved screen is as un-iPhone-like as they come, and the cameras think very differently, especially when compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. If you think that's a bad thing, think again! Hono's created one of the best and most interesting smartphones of 2024. So while the Honor Magic 6 Pro won't be for everyone, it's unlikely to disappoint most.

I love Honor and miss Huawei
The battery is incredible maybe 3 and half hour better than my s23 ultra and it's 850 quid direct from honor

But why didn't you say anything about the resistance of the screen and the battery technology and especially that it has an autonomy even in very heavy (cold) conditions. Too bad, but whoever wants this phone is better interested in what he can.
Hello from the UK. Great review, liked it a lot, balanced and straight to the point no fluff.
Some questions about the Honor if you have a moment:
1. Can you turn on the torch while taking photos or videos? Can the torch be used as a light source while filming? (Samsung phones can't!)
2. Does the camera support 16:9 format photos?
3. Any issues. problems with notifications?
4. How aggressive is this phone in closing up opened apps, can it hold a decent amount of apps in the RAM?

I tried out the phone a little in a store and it doesn't support 16:9 photos. It supports 4:3, 1:1 and full screen photos.
I remember the days when this was a hugely Popular RUclips channel...

I left the channel in 2018, after which he managed it, with David tirelessly making videos for a couple of years. Tom did an incredible job transforming it to Sony365 to more closely align with his passions. Do a camera comparison btwn Op 12 & Magic pro 6
Interesting video - seen so many conflicting reviews about this phone. I'd like to see the results of installing gcam in fact I'd like to see several phones tested using the gcam app versus the built in camera app.
Aperture switches between f1.4-2.0 and not f1.6-2.0 like you said.

For me, this one is, easily, the best phone I've ever seen. Don't see any other brand dethroning it, during 2024.
Seriously, a well rounded device, doesn't lack in any department. Not the best in everything, but even if its zoom capabilities aren't as good as, lets say oppo find x7 ultra's, or vivo x100 pro's, it is still very close, and, in my opinion, up to 10x zoom magic 6 pro nailed it. Best in class screen coupled with, what it seems like the best screen protection coating on the market, the most recent battery tech, fast charging, awesome UI, decent enough software support (longevity vise, could be faster with android version updates)... Latest and greatest, when it comes to chipset (yeah, I'm looking at you Samsung and your Exynos again), punchy enough speakers. All in all, I'm amazed how they managed to cramp all these phone features onto that dslr. Well done Honor, well done indeed. :)
Thanks for the review ! I’m surprised that the photo which are made fast are not good. Doesn’t Honor has some option for these particular cases , like catching moments ?
It's specifically in low light that subjects came out blurry, that is the case with most phones. In bright scenes I had no issues with Motion Sensing and freezing time :) hope that's helped to clarify!

Hi from Australia. I am a huge Huawei fan. I have a P30 Pro and all wearables that go with it. Unfortunately, I have to get a new phone, but i need the google services. Should I get another P30 pro, or should I upgrade to the Honor Magic 6 pro? Can I use the Huawei apps like AI Life and the Huawei health app on the Honor magic 6 pro.
The Honor Magic 6 Pro actually supports a lot (not all) of the backwards compatibile features of Huawei devices like the Huawei MateBook line and MateView monitors. It's therefore an excellent option for Huawei fans looking to upgrade. Hope that helps! Basil
The video sample is too saturated. Does it have color profiles for video like 'natural' ?
There's a Movie mode which supports LOG style capture. I don't know whether it's true-LOG or standard video with pared back contrast and saturation, but it is definitely more neutral. Hope that helps! Basil
Camera pictures are blurred but a software update will fix it and battery is amazing
Assuming that if I buy one for use here in the USA it will work fine if I am only getting it for the camera and occasional updates using wifi?
Absolutely. It will also work with a SIM though not on Verizon and not on all 5G bands.

Are you happy with your P40? If you don't mind missing out on the S Pen and flat screen, the Magic 6 Pro will give you a more familiar experience, and the photo processing is less high-contrast and saturated - I personally prefer the 6 Pro's photos. I think the Galaxy S24 Ultra does more with all the AI elements and pen, but it might do a lot that you don't actually need. Hopefully that helps! Basil
Im so huge Huawei fan i have whole ecosystem of huawei but my new job i need google service... And u know why i cant go Huawei anymore, for me Huawei is best phone, that is bcs i want more Magic 6 pro for same experiance, but i love more design of Samsung, i only need rly fast phone and big battery, so i dont know what to buy 😂
@@davidkrstic4399are you fine with a curved screen? Then go with the Honor. Both are very fast and the battery life is significantly better on the Magic 6 pro
ANY curved screen i dont even bother with it
It has a few minuses: 1) really slow software updates, honor magic 5 pro didn't even get the android 14 yet; 2) zoom photos are really sht unfortunately :( otherwise it's a good phone, and I Don't know if I should switch from s23 ultra to this..

@@tech_edit I left Samsung two years ago because I already had them all and the menus are boring, the phone heats up after a short time, it's really bad to hold in your hand, it's very square... and it takes 1.15h minutes to charge
OnePlus 12 is great value, lasts longer on a single charge, charges quickly, and I prefer OnePlus's camera. Its zoom isn't as powerful, but I don't mind because of how it processes photos. Until the Xiaomi 14 Ultra launches in the UK, I think it's a toss up between the OnePlus 12 and the Honor Magic 6 Pro. Hope that helps!

@@Tiagonaescocia I heard that in about one month honor will have a big update with the AI features so it shouldn't be a problem, if that's what concerns you
The most important questions are is it available in the US, how many years of updates, & last, but not least, how much does it cost?

Nice video, but these phone companies are pissing me off with this no charger in the box business if they are using the environment as an excuse then give the option to request a free charger I'm not into this spend over a 1000 for a phone then pay more for a charger to use it
I especially agree with you on this if they're using proprietary charging and advertising fast charging speeds as a key selling poiny. At least Asus and Nothing use PD charging to hit high speeds in the ZenFone 11 and Nothing Phone 2a.

Dynamic island is an absolute no..what were they thinking?
Sticking with a curved screen..also a no when i can enjoy a flat one on my s23 ultra or other devices.
And the biggest issue with the horrible zoom vs what was advertised. They just flat out BS that one (others have also done this).
Thats 3 big strikes against this one which is otherwise a really nice device

@@joelconolly5574 I would take 2.5x 180mp over regular 2.5x iPhone 14 pro. In the android world it's not much I would of rather seen 180 in 5x then I would of been excited lol 😆
