I loved the negative and the non-negative video. They were both entertaining and I felt like you gave a lot of good information on both videos because I want an Axolotl. Thank you!
Haha, I somehow thought that this video will be made. I also watched the "bad" version as well till the end and I think you did bring some valid counterarguments. There are no pets that have no con-s (negative features) only pros. Who say otherwise are clearly biased.
I was horrified when you flashed those nasty comments on the screen. What is wrong with people? If I don't like a video, I click on a different one. People are ridiculous and I am sorry you received those. You do great videos; I'm glad I found your channel. I don't have an axolotl yet, but now I feel I am ready and I know where to put the enclosure, etc. Very helpful, thanks! And don't pay attention to the negative people. They are jealous they can't make cute axolotl videos. :)
As for water changes. I have a nephew I gave a couple of these, every time I’ve seen them they are thriving, look healthy and are active in the evening. He loves them. I asked him how often he does water changes and how much. He said he’s never done water changes, he bought all the set up, got it going, he only adds water when the water level gets low from his suctioning some poop out or vacuuming the sand when it gets messy. He’s only ever taken out enough to clean their poop. I’m a bit surprised but I guess with Adequate filtration promoting good bacteria is good not much work
First video of yours I'm watching, and although I haven't seen the first video of this sequel: I agree that research is the most important portion of owning ANY pet. These water babies are very cute and pretty easy to keep clean and care for, but the expenses and the preprep for nearly any aquatic animal is just an issue that some people can't wrap their head around. A mere bowl will never be good enough 😤.
I personally think that people should understand people don’t do research all the time axolotls are sensitive as any amphibian are and there is horrible trends that people do (Trying to make them land salamanders and even just buying them because their cute) So hating on somebody for giving their opinion and care tips is just questionable
I would never get an exotic pet. It just encourages people to profit from taking animals from their habitat. We have enough dogs & cats that need rescuing.
Great great video. You did a really good job of describing what's involved in caring for an axie, and why you'd want to. (Be careful, it's easy to get hooked on these little guys.) As an aside, can I ask what the substrate is? It looks sorta... largish, maybe? Oh, and he's the cutest! He's really fun to watch roaming around. Good editing!
I think I’ll stick to turtles and fish. Axolotls 1) are illegal 2) the water needs to be cool. Along with the facts that they’re probably very different than turtles and fish. I’d be fine with maintaining water quality and doing water changes but the rest would be an issue
The only challenge I have in keeping axolotls is the LIVE FOOD DEMAND. This goes with keeping amphibians in general. The common red-bellied newt is another example. African water frogs and dwarf water frogs can accept certain dried tubifex worms in my experience but god - you're right. They can be demanding.
I did want to say in your first video, you said you don’t really handle Axolotl‘s and they aren’t very attentive to people. I handle mine a lot, my granddaughter handles hers even more, I have lots of video of her Axolotl swimming to her hand and letting her pet her squish her and she constantly nibbles on her hand, she’s a bit of a chunk because she eats a lot but still eats every other day. I also donated an axolotl to the library and every time someone looked in on it it would swim through the glass and look back and try to nibble their finger through the glass they were very interactive and the library said it’s nothing like their other one they had had, mine are so friendly. So when their oldest one died I donated another one to keep my first one company
Granted she handles them in the water with clean hands. But granddaughters Axolotl, pearlescent moon, knows her hand over mine and everybody else, she is most friendly with granddaughters hand we tested this
Me! Mine grew up with me doing water changes daily and picking them out of the water. They are only ever out for a half second as I transport them from one Ben to the next. It’s the only thing I can think of that mine are so attentive to your hand. I think it’s because they relate my hand to fresh water and food
yes they are facinating pets, sometimes mine will just stay put but sometimes we do activities like trying to teach him tricks then i give him blood worms
I know it's disturbing thought but will axolotl actually feed on a full grown betta.. I guess it gets back to big fish eat small fish.. are they a solitary species can keep more than one kind of species with them 🤔
Several several months ago when I decided I wanted an aquatic pet slightly more than fish i was stuck between an axolotl and a turtle for so long, finally I have a turtle now but was convinced I was getting an axolotl for so long just for their cute little frog like faces😂👏🏻
the restrictions are mainly on the east coast where they are native. I don't believe Colorado has any laws prohibiting them, but it may be good to double check :)
I am wanting to get an axolotl I do know how and I have had a lot of fish in the past and have read up on having an axolotl and I am planning on getting one at some point I have seen many shops and am planning to get an axolotl that might be injured so it can heal
Those comments were super childish. Axolotls aren’t for everyone, and there can definitely be cons to owning one, others might find it tedious. There are difficult aspects to owning *any* pet, if you find it too easy then you’re probably not caring for it adequately.
My axolotls beg for attention xD Every time I walk in the room they swim to the front of the tank and look at me to see if I have the worms for them lol
you forgot the GFP+ ones! I know some people hate them on principle, and I understand why, but I was introduced to them as important research animals way before I found them being bred in the pet trade, so I’m kind of fond of them for that and for the value they have to introduce people to bioscience.
Hi Turtle girl! I started watching your videos from the very beginning. I was wondering if I could email you or somehow get in touch and ask questions about my turtle and turtles in general.
Put really plants in your Axolotls tanks it will help the water and it will help your Axolotls to keep them more healthy put really plants with live on the waste water to
Well i never hated that video, i just think the reasons you gave where....... Not what the title Said? Saying theyre terible pets while giving not near good reasons to why thats the case
Axolotles = good pets (if you are experienced enough and have the right stuff) so yeah B^]
precisely!
I loved the negative and the non-negative video. They were both entertaining and I felt like you gave a lot of good information on both videos because I want an Axolotl. Thank you!
I want one too and I feel the same way
Haha, I somehow thought that this video will be made. I also watched the "bad" version as well till the end and I think you did bring some valid counterarguments. There are no pets that have no con-s (negative features) only pros. Who say otherwise are clearly biased.
i appreciate this comment! thank you for watching both vids in entirety...that's how you get the full context :D

appreciate the kind words! doesn't really bother me, I can understand if they only read the title and didn't watch the video 😂

CONGRATS ON 100K!! I love your videos, thank you for teaching us :)
thank you so much!!
I don't currently have space for an incredible axie but I love seeing videos and learning about them. Cute little dudes
they're definitely one of those that are so intriguing!
@The Turtle Girl: You WEREN'T "harsh" in the other video, so don't let internet bullies intimidate you.
6:31 “thanks for hanging out with me I really appreciate it” man that hit hard ☹️

Hi I noticed you had fairy lights above Mochi’s tank at least I think they were fairy lights but what I’m saying is that is that ok for the axolotl?
yes! low/ambient light is ok...I just generally don't provide actual aquarium lights
*Congrats on 100K!! 🤩*
thank you so much Danny! hope you're doing well!
Same, congratulations for getting the silver play button for 100k subscribers The Turtle girl

they're neat lil guys!
yes they are facinating pets, sometimes mine will just stay put but sometimes we do activities like trying to teach him tricks then i give him blood worms
haha they can be interactive if you have some patience with them ;)
Ive had shrimp, still do. Theyre very picky lol, you change one thing and they freak.
Thank you
I need to get one there so cool.
I have an axolotl and he’s so tiny and won’t grow. I don’t know what I should do
Feed more often! And maybe try earthworms if you're just doing bloodworms or something like that :)
quick answer: NO.
Does he have an ammonia burn? His tail looks redder than normal
*It is a shame that they are illegal here in California*
:(
I know it's disturbing thought but will axolotl actually feed on a full grown betta.. I guess it gets back to big fish eat small fish.. are they a solitary species can keep more than one kind of species with them 🤔
wait question, how do you keep the water so clear, mines always murky even after a big water change with fresher water.
smaller, more frequent water changes and also spot cleaning whenever I see poop
0:58 DEEERRRPPP :D
Now this is treasure!
I love your videos keep it up, also could you do more leopard gecko videos ,if you could that would be awesome 😎
noted!! leopard gecko fans are here!!
Nice salamanda!❤

haha they are pretty cute xD
What states can you own a Diamondback Terrapin? I live in Colorado but I’m not sure if I can have one as a pet.
the restrictions are mainly on the east coast where they are native. I don't believe Colorado has any laws prohibiting them, but it may be good to double check :)
Thats an adorable hoodie, lol
hehe thanks for watching all the way to the end xD
@@TheTurtleGirl absolutely! Your videos are extremely informative, I reference them for everything!

Hey one question where do you live because where I live axolotl are illegal to have a pet
Salamander family love the channel found myself inheriting two musk turtles and found your channel invaluable
happy to hear that! :))
Axolotls are adorable! It’s unfortunate they are not legal here in California🙁
yeah it's too bad!
Can you make a routine with the axolotl tank🤔

that's true! the gfp gene is pretty cool!
Hi i saw some fishes in your axolotl tank. Did your fish become axoltl food?
A couple years ago I did have fish, but they have since been eaten lol
@@TheTurtleGirl I was thinking of adding danio rerio and ghost shrimp next to my axolotl couple. But frankly, I was intimidated.
How can you be an axolotl hater if you own one? LOL
I love your videos and you’ve helped me with my turtles a lot! ❤️
