Good for you, you fooled everybody
Good for you, you fooled everyone
Good for you, now you're somebody
Good for you, you fooled everyone
Leave your weapon on the table
Wrapped in burlap, barely able
Don't get angry, don't discourage
Take a shot of liquid courage
'Cause my monsters are real, and they're trained how to kill
And there's no coming back and they just laugh at how I feel
And these monsters can fight, and they'll never say die
And there's no going back, if I get trapped I'll never heal
Yeah, my monsters are real
Good for you, you hurt everybody
Good for you, you hurt everyone
Good for you, you love nobody
Good for you, you owe no one
Leave your weapon on the table
Wrapped in burlap, barely able
Call a doctor, say a prayer
Choose a God you think is fair
'Cause my monsters are real, and they're trained how to kill
And there's no coming back and they just laugh at how I feel
And these monsters can fight, and they'll never say die
And there's no going back, if I get trapped I'll never heal
'Cause my monsters are real
Leave your weapon on the table
Wrapped in burlap, barely able
Don't get angry, don't discourage
Take a shot of liquid courage
Leave a light on if you're able
'Cause we both know you're unstable
Call a doctor, say a prayer
Choose a God you think is fair
'Cause my monsters are real, and they're trained how to kill
And there's no coming back and they just laugh at how I feel
And these monsters can fight, and they'll never say die
And there's no going back, if I get trapped I'll never heal
Yeah, my monsters are real
1st play: nah, let's hear it again
2nd play: it's good, again
3rd play: wow, this is amazing
4th play: WTF? They kick ass
5th play: I can't stop listening to this, again

Have demons do ya?
666th play: Ahhhh perfection
How I felt each time I listened to this song lol
Bruh, if you look at the song “bulletproof” by god smack. One of the top comments is literally the exact same one. It has 3.6 thousand likes on the comment. Go check it out.
Going on 30 and this song hits hard I suffer from severe PTSD a lot of military people/vets always come up to me and ask me if I ever served how I act and carry myself but I never have I grew up with a traumatic isolated childhood who suffered with mental health problems his entire life and was ostracized and outcasted by the entire community becuase I was born and raised in a area where it’s all about being popular and sports and being wealthy and normal I was able to finally get off the medication now that I’m older but Im still haunted and wake up everyday stuck with my past the only thing that gets me through the days are my daughter and a hopeless hope that the next day will bring me some kind of joy
What I love about Shinedown is their words, this group has made so many songs and every single one has a meaning behind every verse, and it is with that edgenuity and heart that Brent Smith and his crew touches so many people. I want to personally say that this band is forever both my mom and my own favorite band, and I hope you guys are still producing long after the 20 year mark. Thank you, Shinedown.
I just wanna say to all my Demons, I will prevail, I will make better of myself, I won't be brought down, you won't win I won't let you.
I'm already corrupted by my monsters
TwïnCïty Polly I let them~
That’s what’s up
Amen
I just want to say to all my Demons, as much as I like your boss Satan, Gerard Way told me to defeat you, and I dont betray such a man
As someone with a traumatic past with abuse, Depression and anxiety. This sh*t brought me to tears the first time I heard it….
This song is so POWERFUL! I love it. Besides PTSD, I have a dear friend that suffers with schizophrenia and depression. Relatable.
It really is. I suffer from anxiety and PTSD, so I feel like this song speaks to my soul.
Good luck to your friend, they are gonna need a lot of support. Hope he finds some happy moments in life. Good song to relate to.
I suffer from depression, PTSD, and I've never been able to find a way to heal so everytime I hear this song I just feel all that pain wash over me and for a split second I watch the world do good
Im training the work right now stop
pp0
Turns out the monsters you were scared of as a kid were real.
And somehow they find their way inside you as you grow up.
MakeMeDinner So fucking true!!!
Hmm? You can never escape from your monsters even in death
Sam and Dean agree...
I think they're more around you. So long as you shine bright enough.
I feel targeted
PTSD, those monsters are f'king real. Can never again enjoy fireworks, be around helicopter noise or smell decay, gunpowder or sulfur without the monsters.
Erik Humleker Yut! Well said
Thank you for for ur service, and ur sacrifice.
Erik Humleker I agree with you completely. A person’s outlook on things definitely change since war. Things we once enjoyed now we avoid. Please remember that you don’t have to fight the fight alone.
Well said!
Thank you for your service! My Dad was a Vietnam Vet he would never talk about what he seen there but your comment just shinned a whole new light on this song and what people who live through war go through. You are the true hero's. Thank you again and God Bless!
What scares me more than anything, what gives me the most hope, is that the music is never wrong.
Well said
It's like you were trying to say 2 different things at once and that's what came out as a result.
@Raina Labine so.. it doesn't make sense and sounds weird.
The music is real!
Holy shit this is why I have no faith in humanity. Dumbasses swarming like flies to a turd.
THE BEST way to describe Depression
That's subjective bullshit. It can also be about arrogance
@Mint Gell I think it is more about the inner demons you fight every day. No matter if it is depression or something else.
The Monster is a metaphor for all mental illnesses: PTSD, depression, schizophrenia, insomnia, BPD, APD, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, substance abuse, it matters not which monster you fight. The song is bringing awareness to the fact mental illnesses are real illnesses and addressing the associated stigma.
@@jeremiahhendra2401 There's no stigma. Most people just tend to avoid those with mental illness, even if they have mental illness themselves. Avoiding illness is a pretty solid plan.
I’ve learned to come to terms with my depression. It will never go away but it’ll only motivate me to better myself. It has hurt me and others around me. But i try to better myself every day.
Same here man. I hope that you're still here in 2024 and winning the battle within yourself.
@@Snakepliskin76 i still am. It’s gotten better these last few months but occasionally it’ll rear its head
I relate this song to being an alcoholic. I’ve been in rehab 5 times, been forced to wear a SCRAM bracelet and even after losing everything because of alcohol, I can’t seem to hate it.
"MONSTERS" is therapy to my soul, as ironic as that might seem! Thank you, Shinedown!
Y think thats the reason of the song to embrace your monsters and known they are real not just imagination
Two more days until godsmack and these guys
@@jessicamusiclover6089 I saw them a month and half ago, pretty great
Same dude u dont even know
john yi double like.
Just want to express how much this band has healed so many... And still continues to do it with every album.
Thanks Shinedown! For existing in this age in this time, and moment.
I needed to hear this. 💜🤘
This song is about being strong and kicking ass
When you've had an abusive step father, and your on the run from him this song has deeper meaning.
I’m sorry man hope you find peace one day :)
@ joe mama WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM
@@mrporbig that doesn't give you the right to hurt others. Or make others feelings inadequate just because you're hurting. Theres more than you.
Keep running, buddy. Don't look back. You'll cross that finish line, no matter how far away it seems to be. ✊
Call the police. QUIT HIDING AND CALL THE POLICE. You can't help someone who doesn't wanna be helped man, you gotta want to be in a better situation to be able to actually work for it. PUT HIM IN JAIL
just BADASS, from the GREAT LAKES
Have never been disappointed by this band, continue the good work Shinedown, amazing album and legendary band!!!!!
EliwithaY 18 exactly!! That's why they are the ONLY band in HISTORY to have every single released hit a top 40 chart!
Great band favorite album ever☺
Can not say more shinedown is legedary
This song is a legend on its own
Defidently a great band me and my dad are going to see shinedown seether and badflower in Michigan
Yes, MY Monsters are truly real! Just turned 50 & they still effin haunt me
The fact that you are 50 and are still here shows levels of badassery. Stay strong and keep overpowering whatever is trying to put you down
blah blah
Always between your ears
@@user-gj9uu5lj6f Well yeah that's where your brain is
This song (Like so many Shinedown songs before it) Speaks to me in volumes. This song reminds me how I felt a long time ago, before a huge life-altering event. Now, I'm a completely different person, and hearing songs like this reminds me why I needed a change, and that it's worth moving forward to put that even further behind me.
Thats what i love about Shinedown, the music speaks to so many different people for different reasons. Like for me it speaks about how my dad abused me......something my family doesn't even kno. Now i see pics of him and hes frail and about to die, and honestly i cant wait because when he does die, not only will the weight be off my shoulders but the world will know what all he did.....and then i can see the world through Diamond Eyes
Yes you face plenty of fears that most people could not believe as well pushing other's to be the best ! Baby steps to bigger than ever steps . Thank You Father !
Love your Daughter 😘❤️💙
Good for you mate
"Are you afraid of the monsters?"
"No, the monsters are afraid of me"--The Doctor
Prayers from SC, your home state Eric. All you do on stage had to take a toll on your back. My favorite band. All will hold a special place in my heart
HOLY .. WOW!! THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! NO DOUBT! THANK YALL! WOWWWW. My Monster's are real, that is why one should only Trust the one's that earn it quickly, if of good intention. This RESONATES, no doubt. We know what it is to have not one person, which is ourselves only! TY! 😘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘💛💛💯💯✌
Leave a light on, if you’re able
‘Cause we both know you’re unstable
Call a doctor, say a prayer
Choose a god you think is fair
Don’t really know why but that line just always grabs my attention.
Whoever he's mad at, he still cares about them and doesn't want them to suffer.
It really has that "make your peace cause it's adios." Vibe
Isnt it a God you think is there*? That's what I've always heard and never considered any other possibilities till having read that lol either way they're both validly applicable to the rest of the song
@Will Reno same man
My favorite song so far
Bryan Lenihan Same here. Love that main riff.
Bryan Lenihan I agree Bryan! Such a great song! 🎼
Black soul
Bryan lenihan when is this flaw album coming I'm tired of waiting lol
Skylar Hites Haha ME TOO I hope soon it looks like an early 2019 release
Monsters by Shinedown is a hard rock song that far from the happiest type of song. However, the well orchestrated music and excellent vocals make this a type of song turn the experience of vulnerability into something that many people with heart would carefully listen to.
This song is f*cking awesome ... 👌
The lyrics speak to me. I can’t stop listening to this song. For every person that’s wronged me, this song is made real for me.
There's no going back, if I get trapped I'll never heal.- this hit hard being 4 months clean/sober. I just hope anybody with any type of inner demons find peace and healing!
Stay clean brother I know the struggle
I try to be as peaceful as I can, but after 11 years in prison, my monsters are real! I do my best to fit back into society, but theres always that one S.O.B. that wants to push it. When that situation happens I smile to myself, and think of this song. I'm still here, for now.
As someone who was abused all his life till he moved out this song brought me to tears the first time I heard because everyone in my family wonders why I'm so secluded and my mother has little memories of what happened cuz of her substance abuse and I played this for her it brought her to tears too the message here is truly relatable and true for those like me who think they're alone you're never alone others have been there too let's fight our demons together
You’re a good man
I can relate my family has never been there for me not in a good way no love from no one.. now I'm 5 months pregnant n have liver damage kidneys shot blood infection etc n way more n I'm all alone
jesus loves you!
same brother. I am totally done with my mother and am fine with never seeing her again
I HAVE A TRUSTWORTHY MOM.
Thank you shinedown for always challenging yourselves. Each album is different and beautiful.
I listen to Shinedown every day or night.
I listen when I’ve had a good day.
I listen when I’ve had a bad day.
I see myself in many of their lyrics.
I believe this group has saved my life on more than one occasion.
Me too
Stay strong my friend 💪
I want tell all my monsters that I will not allow you to rule my life anymore you dont own me I have a new storm in my soul and with God's help to my monsters you will fail no doubt.
Hello, how are you doing it's nice meeting you here
This song is my fight song against bullies
I love this song!!! AnyOne who deals w/monsters knows how real they are!!! 🖤💜
Like bigfoot?
Absolutely
yeah
you’re absolutely right, those Monsters are real and they can kill you if you let them
My favorite line in this is:
Say a prayer
Choose a god you think is there
I don’t know why it just is
Realizing that it’s a god you think is fair but still
Its "fair" instead of "there" but honestly either way works
It's my least favorite line because when you think about it there are no fair gods.
It's there. Because he's saying none of them exist, so just pick an imaginary one you think is there.
Honestly I thought it was a jab at the holier than thou religion and group jumpers. Like how my mama hops from group to group changing worship when something hasn't worked out.
Choose a god you think is fair
Anxiety and depression are monsters alright. I can put on a face of strength and being fine when in reality the monsters are whispering to cut open my skin. To let out the pain that’s wrapped in my mind. And it’s so tempting some days.
This song reminds me of the year’s I was tortured by evil people. This song goes out to Jeff & Tom for the year’s of constant bullying & taking my stuff
Oh wow!!! No words for how powerful this song is. Shinedown always knows life. Seriously. I'm sure my situation is not what this song is about but man do the words hit home hard!!!
yes indeed you're singing Mya
2:58 to 3:23 is so god damn good, and the way it transitions to the last bit of the song, I can't get enough
This song will keel.
This is the best Shinedown song since their album The Sound of Madness. Reminds me a lot of Leave a Whisper which is my favorite album. There are some good songs on this album but I miss this sound a lot. This will be a hit.
My monsters are real and they're trained how to kill.
That lyric grabs my attention because it's true in my case.
Alex Rose ok
Mines due to PTSD, Anxiaty and Depression
As someone who has dealt with death more than once, I can agree
People might call this just another edgy emo song but when digging deep into its meaning it IS actually a very relatable song. The stuff we go through both physically and mentally in real life are “Monstrous” and tough to deal with. Especially with what is happening with the world nowadays, this song like it’s monsters are “REAL”.😞
This song is epic.
This album is going to be a huge hit as always for you guys! 🔥🔥💛
I agree it is amazing
Just can never get enough of this song ....force of something unexplainable in my head and heart when I hear this song.
Shinedown shines once again!!! Monster's are real they are all of us not a single one of us are perfect. Your choice what you want to be either full of good intentions or a heartless devil. Dust to dust we all are either way.
Wish I could take this song back in time with me to the sandbox! Hearing it plays many memories in slow-motion of a lost journey through time. Thank You! Thankful to still be alive & miss my brothers & sisters deeply!
This band is truely like a fine wine. Ive been a huge fan since the started and have never been disappointed. But this album, and more specifically this song, is their crowning achievement. I dont believe it can get any better. But, as they have done so many times in the past, i know they will prove me wrong. Keep up the amazing work Shinedown.
Shinedown is my therapy... Their songs never fail to comfort, inspire, or motivate me.
This is the best song in the album. Keep on rocking
Learnt this as my first full song on guitar, don’t regret it one bit. ROCK ON!!! 🤘
Really love this song, the lyrics are so powerful. I'm fully aware of the lyrics being in the description but at first I thought he said " these monsters get high" that would've been really cool. Still really love the song, can't stop listening to it.
I am in recovery and the monsters are my drugs. This song gets me focused on not using. Thank you
Stay clean. Just lost best friend and brother to “H” overdose. He was 68 and a long time heroin addict. Looks like he took himself out. I know how very very tired of being a life long heroin addict he was. Good luck. Keep needles out of your arm and change your playmates. Go to meetings. Good luck to you and live a good life.
I absolutely love this song too!!!! Amazing job guys, omg. My repeat button will be broken..
Don't be scared to inbrace your inner monsters they will push you to greater and they don't sleep or feel they want more
Ok its official, Monsters is my favorite song on the album, beautiful guitar tone and great lyrics. Another huge hit i think!!! ❤️⚠️🎸
I love that this song resonates with many people for many reasons. Some of us had met real life monsters and survived thank you shinedown.
When you and your immediate family listen to this song and are able to connect with it. We really need help with our monsters. But moving on from that I hope everyone who reads this comment can overcome their/your monsters. You're never alone someone is there for you in some way shape or form
BAD ASSERY IN ITS PUREST FORM🤘 these guys never disappoint!
You are the best singer ever and I love your songs especially Shinedown
This is literally my fave group ever, and my fave song is cut the cord
My monsters are real. They were my parents. Silence leads to sickness. Speaking out leads to healing.
Truth my friend...talk about your monsters and problems NEVER GIVE UP... SILENCE IS A DEADLY SOUND
The first time I ever heard of Shinedown, was their concert in Arkansas. I luckily got invited along to. I have been a fan since. They’re absolutely terrific in concert, I wish to see them again someday.
I have to say this is my absolute favorite song on this album! It really speaks to me.
I'm a desert storm veteran and this song hits home. The sad part no one believes or cares anymore.
I care sir.
i got your 6, brother!!!
my dad was almost drafted respect to u my fellow american
I care. Thank you for your service. ❤
Judging from this comment section it’s safe to say I enjoy the same type of music as people who are mentally unstable. 😂
This song hits home. Thursday, I lost a close friend. Everyone, hug your families, be kind, you never know the last encounter you may have.
I have to say that I have loved Shinedown's music since before I even knew who they were (it's been many, many years). Lately, I have just been obsessed with their music though. Shinedown; keep on Rockin guys! You are an AWESOME group!
Best Shinedown song...ever!🤘
This reminds me of the old Shindown. This song is awesome.
This song has So Much More Meaning for me as a Survivor of abuse at 4 years old and then rape at the age of 16....it hit me hard, but I'm Still Standing and I'm Still Going On With My Life and I'm Glad That My Favorite Band Shinedown and most of all Brent Smith wrote this song and it Lets Me Sing Out My Rage and Redemption!!! I Love This Song and Shinedown
Good for you, Shinedown. You got me hooked & I'm not even complaining.
This song made it real to me no matter what you've seen going through what ever your story you're not alone. No one gets out of life alive it's a hell of a ride. Just try and enjoy what's left.
Chills on the first listen. Another bad ass track! ❤

Sooooo excited for this alblum! This is my favorite song so far! Amazing job Shinedown!👏❤

I love the video. Wish this song was out when I served in the Marines. 98 to 2002.

Very relatable line as well. Relatable song as a whole but that line really hits me.
I am a fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, diabetes and neuropathy warrior. This song represents all the pain i fight everyday. I love Shinedown. So many of their songs hit home plus if you ever see them in concert they are just WoW
i salute u warrior. prevail

You're never outta the fight
I can so relate to this!! Thank you 😊🙏🏽 ShineDown 💯

Great tune. Love Shinedown. Their MONSTERS are real!
Just listening to brilliance. No big...❤❤❤
THIS is Shinedown!! More song like this one please! Don't go to pop music!
Leandro Valenzuela other than get up they have made pretty much 0 pop songs
Leandro Valenzuela its really not, its called “alternative rock” for a reason
Someone has a problem listening to uplifting tracks. Its an easy mistake, but pop music sucks with guitars in it

Plese no why did you even say that
I have been a Shinedown fan since Us and Them. They just keep getting better. They get the struggles we all face that is why I love their music.
