Anyone who says we shouldn't play Wagner needs to put their feelings aside and let his music explain why we should.
Exactly. Antisemitism was there at the time and what do we have now? I don't support Israel and I get restrictions all the time in the Facebook. There is a book where Big Brother and his thought police control how people are allowed to think.
This wonderful music SOUNDS so much the way a storm at sea FEELS that I'm surprised listeners don't have incipient seasickness when they close their eyes. Most definitely some of the young Wagner's greatest work.
Yes.....easy to visualize the wind and the waves............
i appreciate marek janowski's restraint and self-control : he knows what tension is
Genau
Superb conductor and orchestra. Wonderful tempo ‚modulations‘
What a fine, exceptionally fine orchestra this - a real discovery thanks to RUclips. To my English ears this sounds like a proper German orchestra should sound.... I just love the confident and forthright sound of a German orchestra.. and this is no exception. A wonderful orchestra and a wonderful performance of the Flying Dutchman.... bravo orchestra.
Yes, no one in the world can play classical music better than a German orchestra.
@@Sameh_Abdel-Qawy It depends. I think Bernstein's New York Phil was pretty damn good. And Russian orchestras have a particular affinity for Tchaikovsky.
@@xxsaruman82xx87 Yes. You are right in some cases. But German orchestras especially Berlin Philharmonic is not just excellent but also MAGIC.
I just came back from Russia 🇷🇺, and I was positively surprised by Mariinsky orchestra and Valery Gergiev. It was different from what I was used to, but when I studied the sheet and Wagners original comments, I found out that Gergiev actually did „his homework“ and followed the instructions. I don‘t know how to explain better, but I loved it
Manchmal sagt man "künstlerische Leitung".
One of my favourite composers. The other ones are Jøn Leifs, J. S. Bach., Einojuhani Rautavaara, Palestrina and then there is a group called ABBA.
Love this performance!! Thank you from Virginia, USA.Well lit, nice camera work, great editing to show all the action!! Brava!
Eine herrliche hervorragende Ausführung : subtle aber kräftig❤
The finish moves me to tears . Lovely!
Maravilhoso!!!
A very well executed overture, but a hair restrained. As others commented, the brass could have been dialed up a bit - this is supposed to transport us to a ship on tempest-tossed waves! That said, I loved seeing the different sections highlighted as they were given their opportunities to shine. Bravo to all!
Many many thanks for this excellent execution made by each artist in her or his instrument master performance ! A "pure delice" !
In dutch we say:"Goed fout is nìet lelijk" which translates in German as more or less "; "Richtig falsch ist NICHT häßlich"❤🎉
Espetacular!
Ich liebe es
Immaculately played
I always cry to listen the miracle that is Wagner

@Kim Nguyen how is the revision going. I wanna exchange notes
Oh thanks you are awesome!
Thanks Captain I hope your exam was as amazing as your comment!
I'm not "into" Wagner's operas per se, but the orchestral excerpts are great to wonderful, and this overture qualifies at least in the former category. If I recall correctly, it was once used as theme music for a radio program. It's very invigorating, and this is a fine performance.
It was the introductory music for "Captain Video and his Video Rangers," a NYC program of the early 1950s. I was a big fan of the show. Perhaps that's why I am a Wagnerite.
It's hard to get "into" Wagner, as you say, but this, his first opera to use Leitmotifs (theme music for individual parts) is his most accessible opera, maybe a little easier to understand than his later works which get, like, a bit "out there" in never never land.
Wonderfull and iconic music, from Wagner. It seems to be observing the scenery from the very top Neuweinstein Castle
Ottima esecuzione👍👍👍
This '' VERY GOOD rendition,BRAVO....Theatrical...!
Welch eine Musik.
Klasse!
Wunderbar!!!
Simplemente genial.
Thank you for sharing! 😊

Orquestra maravilhosa!!!

Quelle merveille!
8:14 onward is my favourite part. Some of the most exciting moments of music.
Keep up the good work! ksv

CHARISMA
A good rendition for an action-packed piece, though to my taste a bit tepid and restrained. The brass could've been much more strident and dramatic. I can't enjoy Wagner without eardrum-busting brass !!
In that case you might want Berliner Philharmoniker.
Me neither. Without those brass tubes blasting pounds of air is not Wagner....
In that case, try Karl Böhm and the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra in 1971. The brass is so loud, but it's amazing. My favourite version of the overture.

The orchestral narrative ‘whip up’ - brewed by Carl Maria von Weber and uncorked by Richard Wagner with even greater style……
Interesting to watch the left hand of the string players, especially the violins. That is where the action is.
Wagner and Mahler probably understood best the french horns
sublime

NICE OLD PLAYER
👏👏👏
This symphony was used as the background music for the animated movie "Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Overture to a New Battle".
It's a very nice symphony.
This is an opera
Wagner war ein absoluter Meister

1:31 - English horn solo. Wonderful... BRAVO!
Cape Horn
Even if he was a huge influence on Hitlers views, there’s no denying he is one of the great musical masters.
FOR OLD AGE LEADER
6:07 is freaking epic
Who composed the little tune at the very beginning of this video?

To where did the dutchman fly? Maybe to the Bahamas? Nobody knows.
Gut beobachtet!
Strangely reminds me of Peter Grimes.
redemption through love .. ah... Wagner.

That 'pluck-pluck' at the beginning and the end spoiled it for me.

Rusine dirijorului macelar !
That's where the audience is going. They want faster pace and quicker pieces. Time is an essence. Similar thing was in a book by Aldous Huxley, Brave New World. Newspeak.

Another one I learned from Bugs Bunny.
SERIOUSLLY ??? WTF are that way to play one of the most popular horn passage !!!!! Like Samuel Seindenberg NoOne
A good reading overall - but would have been better with slightly slower tempi.
On a second viewing/listening, I have to reiterate my initial opinion, with the additional observation that an overall slower tempo would have allowed for a better crispness and intonation for the individual instruments (says the expert conductor/interpreter) :-O
Janowski likes his brisk tempi....he needs many rehearsals for good results. This is pretty good I would say.
U R PLAY EMPIRE
Hindemith: hmm yes but what about Wagner sightread by a crappy spa orchestra

Surprisingly disappointing from this band. The performance is blurred, unbalanced, and inconsistent in tempo. Sounds under-rehearsed; they know the notes, but the spark is missing.
Search YT for

It should be the theme to the Wagner group. Not ride of valkeryies
