If you listen to the big E string lead in to the tune at 0:19 and 2:07 you will hear a clearer, cleaner deeper tone on the J45 Vintage. Probably the sound of higher grade woods. They are both awesome guitars.
I have come to realize that theese comparisions are just an aproximate of the difference in sound. Age and care, setup (saddle height), recording method and equipment, and other details all play a part of the particular guitars sound. You have to try the guitar yourself. Great playing btw. I love the 45. Souch a cool and sweet sounding guitar. I don't think you can go any better as far as acoustic guitars go
The TV J-45 has an Adirondack Spruce top ... that’s a MAJOR reason for the difference, I know from experience, I own a J-45 PureVoice Custom that essentially a TV but with a few spec differences.. the primary similarity is the the Adspruce top... my j-45 sounds 95% like this TV
Thank you for the great playing to show off the different voices. The Vintage is fuller, deeper, more like what I expect from a great Gibson. It has 'aged tones (torrified) Adirondack top and I think a better grade mahogany Back and sides. It also has a rounded neck. The standard is a bit brighter with thinner neck profile. Give it another 10 years of playing and the difference will not be as great in tone. Thanks
Beautiful playing. As a suggestion, it would be better if you switched between guitars every 2-4 measures. More editing cuts required but WAY more useful. Thanks!
Clearly Vintage responds better to even lighter touch and therefore more dynamic. But standard has all the same flavors but just not fully baked yet. Cheers to the song played. Honestly after a point the differences in instrument disappear when they are so close and well playedZ
Gibson stopped using red spruce on j45 since 1947 or so, much earlier than Martins, so the signature j45 sound for most people is actually the sitka sound, mellow and darker. The adirondack sounds clear and woody, with a robert johnson twang, but nope its just not the j45 you associate with Bob Dylan (who wrote majority of his songs on a j45 from the 60s, according to himself) or the post war folk era
Damn, is this really representative, the Vintage sounding so profoundly much better than the Standard?? I have a 2012 Standard I have so far been so happy with, but now immediately start thinking I maybe should trade for a Vintage..... Never are you allowed to feel lasting satisfaction....
@@drieslambrecht8611 Should probably follow your advice, but then again, getting inspired and feeding new dreams is what gives energy and forward direction to life. Much needed in these pandemic dull times... Cheers, Magnus
Don't regret the standard. Imo it's a far far better instrument to sing with, it's also much warmer and less exhausting to the ear in long play sessions. Adi can be harsh and overbearing to the ear sometimes. Both will sound equally awesome in ~20 yrs
Beautiful playing, can you please play this tune comparing the L00 and Lg2 (50s) I'm very curious what flavors they offer in this style of playing. Thanks!!
November 2021, California: "J-45 Vintage" is not a model I recognize as currently sold in the US. Did it recently get replaced by the 50s J-45 Original? Also, you point out that your J-45 Standard is from "2002" (did you mean 2020?). The current model has nickel tuning heads and a black nut, so there are some difference as well. Maybe the US and Korea models are different?
The Gibson Masterbilt strings 80/20 sounds best for me. I tried alot, elixers, martin PB and 80/20 strings, nickel bronze, diaddario, etc. Another great choice is the Martin Retros light gauge. Good luck cause it can take a while for you to settle on a great string based on your preference. What worked best for me was those 2.
Hello. We are an art studio "Moon cat". We are from Ukraine. Our studio needs a guitar. If you or your friends have an old guitar that you do not need, we will be grateful if you give us such a guitar. Sincerely, Santa Claus. Christmas is coming! Hurry to do good!
Yes it is. It’s a 2002 model. I have a 2001 J45 Standard, and they came with the vintage-style tuners back then. The first guitar is a 2017 J45 Vintage.
Beautiful! Beautiful beautiful, beautiful beautiful,beautiful!
Who cares about the guitars! This player is awesome and he made both guitars sing!
Yeah! Flavio ! You are right ! This guy plays awesome , I love bis videos.

I noticed he plucked the strings more aggressively with the vintage however the difference is still there pretty significant
@@Hai.tinh.583 I went back and took another look and by golly, you're right about that.
👍🏻
You are very correct 💯
I'll buy the vintage one

LOVE IT!!!! One of my favorite Gaither songs! Sang this all the time in church! Oh, great guitars and amazing playing!

I love this song of thanksgiving to God. Because he lives! Also, your playing is inspiring. I just watched to see the comparison and got a blessing!
Either one would do nicely!

My favorite Gaither song played beautifully on 2 beautiful guitars!

I think I actually like the standard better weirdly
My favourite guitars, thanks for the beautiful playing 🙂
Vintage one sounds more vintage. Standard one sounds more new.
Clearly Vintage responds better to even lighter touch and therefore more dynamic. But standard has all the same flavors but just not fully baked yet.

The Standard is a 2002. It is "fully baked".
Because He Lives? Awesome.
찬송가 본토 느낌 맹키로 너무 좋습니다ㅎㅎ
Vintage 2017 model. Standard 2002 model. Video done in early 2020 or so.
Great playing! what pick are you using? gauge/brand? Thank you! enjoyed your music a lot.

That vintage sounds so much better but is also way more expensive :(
Beautiful playing, can you please play this tune comparing the L00 and Lg2 (50s) I'm very curious what flavors they offer in this style of playing. Thanks!!
Vintage definetly more open sounding, but I think the standard has better resonance

Elixir strings are the way.

He usually uses "santacruz low-tension"
