Absolutely beautiful. I remember years ago providing the piano accompaniment for this number on quite a few occasions. The words of General Albert Orsborn are very moving, and Eric Balls lovely melody fits them perfectly. Brought tears to my eyes.
Happy memories of singing this with Chelmsford songsters in the 60's. An absolutley dreamy tenor part which I can still remember note for note.Over 50 years ago
