Never thought I’d say this. But his giddiness for reading is adorable. God bless you, Mr. Bradbury. The world certainly feels darker than it is without you here.
Just look at how desperately and earnestly he's speaking! "Characters come to me! They speak to me!" How he loves his craft, how he loves... Everything. He truly genuinely loves life.
Sitting here thousands of miles away, decades later Tears are in my eyes. Tears of hope and happiness and joy.. Thank you and God bless your memory. This is the power of imagination and words..
There's a deep message in "do what you love". Too many people keep pretending they're somebody else, fearing they can't be successful as themselves. They underestimate that they won't get real feedback as long as wearing their masks. Nothing more than frustration is reached in such a way. Inspiring words.
One of the greatest writers of all time! I enjoyed this video so much. I will definitely support public libraries not only to honor the late Ray Bradbury, but it is a great tool to help people expand their minds through so many worlds. A true benefit in helping and rebuilding a great democracy. R. I. P. - Ray Bradbury
1:05 “Love is at the center of your life. The things that you do should be the things that you love, and things that you love should be things that you do.” I absolutely love that quote. So true! Mr. Bradbury seemed like a very wise soul. Such beautiful advice. I had to watch this for school but I’m so glad I did. Really warmed my heart! Lots of Love ❤️ Rest In Peace, Mr. Bradbury ❤️
41 years old, here. R.B. Has been my hero since I read Fahrenheit 451 in my teen years. I've fallen into his realm of fantasy, Golden Apples of The Sun, The Illustrated Man, The Foghorn, The Veldt. He has fueled my fantasy, and my life. A better hero, I could not imagine. Thank you, Ray, for the motivation.
The Fog Horn, one of the most beautiful short stories ever written. I read it often, to remind myself about the unrequited love. Thank you Ray, may you rest in peace
Never got I to Fahrenheit 451 when it was required reading for high school. But I read The Martian Chronicles for fun and it became my favorite. Such a huge Influence and a true teacher and student to the craft of writing. I love how he talks about writing, it makes me want to write and he seems so humble. RIP.
These 8 short minutes kind of leave you speechless. he was a very remarkable mind and man. Yes. he was in love with life & the imagination. a poet & a dreamer. an intensely passionate dreamer. ... rest in peace, weary warrior. rest in peace.
The man so loved to LIVE! I wish I could learn how to LIVE from him. Every word of his you read springs out at you with delight and gusto and zest (in his words) with gobsmacking joy that they simply exist! Be grateful that you exist! And how do you show that gratefulness? You LIVE! Love and laugh and observe and cherish, it's all so clear in his books. The only thing above all I took away from Fahrenheit and Dandelion and Martian was that you must TREASURE LIFE and genuinely LIVE IT! Don't just exist, bob along in a trance and forget that you have a whole world around you which lives and breathes in tandem with you- truly, genuinely begin to LIVE. I wish I can one day live like Ray Bradbury.
RUclips has enabled time-travel, so I can go back and visit people like Ray. I am so sorry I never heard his voice or saw a interview with him some thirty years ago when I was reading his books. He is brilliant. The Martian Chronicles invented modern sci-fi, and you can see his influence in the Twilight Zone and Star Trek and I am sure many others. Watching his videos has re-energized myself as a writer. He is inspiration.
I love Ray Bradbury, every one of his books....and i have the same love and respect for books. Only the ability of reeding can open the doors to knowleg, study and education, a satisfaing and interesting life were one can read and learn all there is aroun us if is neear or very far. Books are like people...some of them teache us...some only tell us anecdots and stories....some gide us and acompaney us playing with imagination and wisdom. But behaind every writhen book, there is a human with the ability or knowlege to write..and reed!
Oh man, one of the most passionate people ever to speak on writing. Listening to him just makes you inspired. Love his works and glad he also made audio recordings of his own books. Your legacy will live on as ling as there is sanity on this earth. RIP!!
Thank you for everything Ray! You are my hero, and you have many times brought me through the dark! While I was there you made it a very interesting place.
I must say a huge thank you Mr. Bradbury for The Halloween Tree!! My favorite since I was a child! Still at 36 I read the book and watch the best animated Halloween film.. bless you
What a brilliant man. Such an inspring author. I remember when I had to read the Martian Chronicles for summer reading one year. After I started it I couldn't put it down.
i think 50 years from now libraries probably won't exist, that generation won't know how it feels like to smell old books, mmmm... and the way he was telling how he used to go to the libraries and read all those classics just seemed so cool
The Halloween tree has had such a huge impact on my life. I saw the TV movie when I was very young and I still watch it every Halloween night. Hearing Ray speak brings me right back to my childhood and his perfect narration of that story. Can anyone relate?
If we listened to our intellect we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go in business because we'd be cynical: "It's gonna go wrong." Or "She's going to hurt me." Or,"I've had a couple of bad love affairs, so therefore . . ." Well, that's nonsense. You're going to miss life. You've got to jump off the cliff all the time and build your wings on the way down. Ray Bradbury This is by far my favorite quote of all time.
I love some of his work, but learning of his influences, i suddenly understand why most of his stories are convoluted and usually lack a proper ending. again, i love some of his work. this does not come from a place of hate
"I want a close up of the cat now!!" XD *Cats warm, hypnotic purrs* Ray, you are awesome. I bet heaven is a more interesting place now that you're there. I'm an author too, and I know I'll never reach your caliber, but I hope I touch a few hearts along the way. I'm not in it for the money, I do it to touch hearts. Pray for me :)
"We are all sons and daughters of time... " and we are facing our end. But this is not a reason to give up, this is the cause to fill live span with sense.

"All my characters write the book, I don't write the book. All these characters come to me and say: 'Listen to me!' And then I listen to them and I put it down and the book gets written. That's how I write, you see. All these lovers surround me and they love life and they tell me about it."

ayo now we actually have to wear masks
To me the fact that Ray never had to EXPLAIN anything in his books, even if science fiction, is the most incredible proof of his ingenuity!
I love his mind . I fell in love with his words . I feel his soul in his books .

The first book I fell in love with was Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles. I have yet to find that same feeling from reading as I did in that book.
If we listened to our intellect we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go in business because we'd be cynical: "It's gonna go wrong." Or "She's going to hurt me." Love him and his message. But we are absolutely NOT a “democracy of readers.”
May he rest in peace...
"We are a democracy of readers, and we should keep it that way." It was good while it lasted.
