'Plomps the Eaglet back in the nest" only for the moment they leave have it start wondering dangerously near the edge......again! Visions of this baby being the Eaglet equivalent of Homer Simpson where he keeps falling down the side of a cliff face. lol Duh!! But seriously, thank god you managed to rescue him in time and get him back into that nest. lol

Lady hawk, I watched this live! What an amazing rescue. Dr. Sharpe and his crew seemed fearless and were on a mission. This sweet little baby is back in the nest resting currently and waiting on mom or dad. Thanks for the recap. UPDATE: Mom and dad have returned with fish. Baby is being well fed and resting peacefully. ❤️

Dear Lady Hawk, so happy they were able to save this eaglet. But wanted to report that here in Colorado we lost 2 baby eaglets at the Standley lake nest. Wildlife officials don't know why, they were a week old, then suddenly deceased. The officials are trying to find the remains to do necropsies but have not found them. So very sad when the eagle community loses these precious babies. My heart sank. Prayers to all of Gods creatures.

I'm really beginning to dislike these cliff nests 😔. Thank goodness we've a safe, and healthy retrieval 🙏🦅💕 Apparently, a bit of a rock climber as well! Was all that chatter from the eaglet... Mom, dad? The building up of those rails was icing on the nest!!

In watching the video again, when dr sharpe gets the chick from the spot on the cliff, I can see where the chick landed. Looks like the chick was on some sort of flat ledge and I think that’s why it was able to remain where it was and sleep overnight. Such a lucky chick🤞!

Omg Sharon, my heart was in my throat! The danger and risk to *all* participants was substantial and so scary. That a little baby from *both* nests in the area - one a singleton and one a triplet - whose mamas were a young(ish) eagle who is the DAUGHTER of the old(er) eagle, is astonishing😮😱🤯. That both babies survived their fall, and survived the night alone then were rescued the day after, is miraculous. I love all 4 of the babies, and both sets of parents, beyond measure, I'm so grateful the families are intact🥲🥲

I agree Mel - this has been a very scary season with both TH and WE chicks falling off the nest - but with happy endings which is a miracle!! I think we will all sleep better tonight knowing the chick is safe and well fed!!!

Hi Sharon! Yes the prickly pear cactus are dangerous! Did you see the cholla (jumping cactus) from the overlook view on their hike up here? You Have to avoid those - they have barbs and hook themselves under your skin and are very painful. I have unfortunately gotten them in my hands and also my dog in his mouth and paws. Had to use tweezers to pull the spines out and had to take the dog to the vet to remove the ones inside his mouth! Ouch!!

@@ladyhawk oh no! That is awful. When we lived in AZ people were using cholla for low fat fences. It is close to blooming season right now. The desert is amazing when it is in bloom. I love it all year.

Thank you, Dr. Sharpe! We all know these rescues are costly--I just donated to IWS...hope everyone considers doing the same no matter how little you can give..it adds up in the end!
