You underestimate how good a rider you are Andy, great work. Touring vids might not get a lot of views, but we who watch them are very much appreciative. Thankyou
I agree David, these touring videos are great! It's nice when they go down roads that I have done many years ago, some areas haven't changed in 35 years!
You are appropriately cautious Andy especially as you have Mrs Flyer on board. That fine balance of a rider of having enough confidence to ride well but not overconfident.
I do love hearing the gentle purr of the boxer 6 in the background, it sounds like a little lorry engine with no worries in the world. It is made for these kind of tours.
Let's interrupt this show for a quick: 75 friggin' €'s for one or two Caesar salads!!!!? You really shouldn't have gone for the gold flake dressing on that one. The receipt should come with a sedative because that is painful.
Here in Sun Valley, those of us that live here year round call these in between seasons “Slack” and we absolutely need it. A time when the pace slows down, you can find parking and the restaurants have people you know in them. Time to take a deep breath and appreciate where you live.
I love that bike! It seems so smooth, like it's floating over the bumps, and the engine sound is soothing and comforting, like it's saying "Don't worry about me, enjoy the ride".
Absolutely stunning roads and views. I am another viewer who just loves your tour videos, as I've said before, you make us feel as if we are there with you. You are making the Goldwing look like the perfect bike for this type of tour, especially two up, and it's taking those hairpins in it's stride, with you more than capable of steering it. I've been through the Frejus tunnel many times when I drove in Europe for a living, and like you, the first time the instructions came through the radio I was confused, I was looking for a police bike or tunnel employee ready to shout at me haha.
As a Goldwing rider these past seven years I can say you’ve taken the perfect bike mountain climbing. Mine is. 2015, unlike your updated more modern model but the torque and nimble handling are there. Excellent tour.
One observation I would make Andy about the tight, uphill right hand corners is that I always force the gearbox down into second, using the ‘minus’ paddle button before the tightest part of the corner so that if you did roll off fractionally, for any reason, you already have the revs up if you need power. This has the added benefit of standing the bike up faster, adding to both directional control and confidence.
Hi Andy. Another great video showing just how lovely this area is. It's reminding me of all the brilliant rides we have done over the many years of biking and just how little things change ! I am always amazed at the high standard of what the mountain roads are in direct comparison to the rubbish situation we have in the UK. ( pot holes etc). Keep 'em coming !.
New episode of another great TMF tour series on a Saturday morning with a cup of tea. Life does get much better than this. Keep up the great work Andy and Carol.
I had to do a job in Mageve one Christmas. Try driving up there in the snow! However, the beauty of the place once I got there made it worth while. I was there 2 nights waiting for spares. Driving down again was equally as fun. I hasten to add,, I was in a car. They put up a big Christmas tree with lights in the small square near the church. Great video. Thanks.
I, like many of your subscribers, thoroughly enjoy the touring videos. It’s nice to see some roads that I have ridden as well as many that I haven’t. I thoroughly enjoy any that cover France, Italy & Switzerland which are a joy to visit. Keep up the great work 👍
Absolutely loved this tour aboard the mighty beautiful stunning Goldwing, the scenery wasn’t bad either,😊,you handled the whole ride superbly Andy, & Carol wasn’t to scared 😦 what a fantastic journey from start to finish, must get my mate to give me a crogy on the back of his bike 🏍️ 😊
The misses and I am really enjoying the series. Recognise a few places from a couple of our tours. Completely agree about hotel edelweiss, stayed there in 15 and 16. Top place. 👍🏻
I have always enjoyed your tours the most about your channel and may be your attempts at bike improvements, lol. Anyhow since the days of your solo trips around Britain to now, watched them all, and this one just as good, love the scenery on show and the humour that goes along with it. Just makes me want to get back out there again and do another trip no matter how big it small.
Thanks for having us along on your tour Andy and Carol, these tour video's are a high light of my weekend. In fact after hitting some mud and coming off recently with a badly injured leg I was contemplating my future on a bike, until I saw this, now I want to follow your route myself. Thankyou
Sorry to hear about your "off" Rob - hope you get fixed up in due course - and yes, my vote is the sedate touring stuff, leave that off-road melarky to others.....
I did a similar tour from Marseille to Monaco via most of the alpine routes on my street triple 675. It was 1 of the best things ive ever done! Makes me want to do it again watching your vids. Top tip for you, if you're heading that way, go ride into the hills above monaco... Absolutely epic and where the rich properly drive their super cars 😃
Hey TMF! Ah, my playground next door! It’s true, a GoldWing isn’t a hairpin razor blade but any bike around there is a wonderful experience. I’ve taken a Tracer 700, Africa Twin, Bandit 650 and my trusty Pan European through there many times. Gorgeous. I’ve just picked up a brand new Himalayan which will be heading up that way next Springtime.
Pleased to hear that Kelvin - as you can imagine a lot of time, effort and money goes into making these so it give me a real boost when people say they like to watch them!
We are loving the Goldwing 'Winging it Tour', the missus and I have just binge-watched episodes 2 to 5. Mel (the missus) enjoys Carol's contributions and wants more. Agree with other comments, perhaps not so many views, but those of us who watch think its great. The Goldwing did great on the hairpins, fantastic scenery and great commentary; what more could you want. It's more inspiration for our touring next year, although we need to go back to Ireland and finish the Wild Atlantic Way too. I'm sure I'll fit it all in somehow. Thanks again for a great series.
I did the first half this year (Cork to Galway) on my GS. I traded the GS for the Goldwing. It'll be just as good on the Goldwing. I passed several GWs this year. Surprisingly, we didn't see many other bikes, not even many GS's; we were there the first two weeks of June.
The alpine roads are hard to beat and certainly show how capable the GoldWing is (along with the pilot of course) I also am fascinated by the skills of the tunnel engineers, absolutely amazing 👍
Only cruisers worry about mountain roads. Heading East on the highway to Limoges, us on Street Triples, a Fazer 600 & Steve ( sadly, cancer killed him ) on a Kawasaki 2000 cruiser, flip helmet up smoking a fat cigar at 140 kph. Laughing. On the mountain passes in the Massif Central leaving a shower of sparks. He did carry in the panniers, baguettes, ham, cheese, mustard & branston pickle. The big K was not at home in the mountains.
The 'WIng did fantastically well - I wouldn't hesitate to take it again on a similar trip - I found the Triumph Tiger 900 we had in Japan last year more of a handful when loaded up....
Yet another fantastic episode, I feel like a kid again when we used to go to the cinema on a Saturday morning and came away barely able to wait until the following Saturday for the next episode! 😂 Be great if you could post the route of this trip, my Son and I are over that way next September and be good to do at least some of your route 👍🏻 I think you handled the hairpins just fine, don't sell yourself short Andy! I still can't understand why these vids don't get a bigger audience, I for one reckon they're absolutely brilliant so keep it up guys.
This looks amazing, you’ve inspired me to start planning next season’s European trip 👍 and as Mrs F is along, inspired my better half as well. Everyone’s a winner
Hi Andy .. these films are simply delightful… and compliments for your great riding .. big bike two up on difficult roads … This series is a tour de force !! Many thanks Mike
Hi just like to say a big thank you for all the videos you have posted . I’ve have used them to help plan a couple of trips of my own Norway and France . The French alps are amazing, hairpin after hairpin and the views are amazing. Thanks again .
Indeed very much appreciate this content! Simply spectacular views! Japan tour is still my favorite, but this too was amazing. Well done you two. Cheers.
I took my Bonneville and wife on her Honda CBF500 to Megeve in 2009. Only our second trip abroad and at the time we just did all the hairpins without thinking about it (a bit ignorant probably). We enjoyed ourselves for several days touring around the roads and small towns…..had lovely weather and always looked in wonder at the cyclists trying to get up the mountain passes (was glad to be on a motorbike!!).
Wow, some great views, and some tight hairpins, I'm loving the touring videos, as I don't think I'll ever be into Europe on my bike, so keep up the good work, it's much appreciated what you and Carol put into the video. 👍
What a great ride, I did a similar route coming back from Mugello in the mid 90s 2 up on a Kawasaki 550 Zephyr, it brought back many happy memories, thanks.
Great episode again both, I'm loving this tour! Many places still look the same as they did in the late 1980's when I toured the area in my youth! The wing looks like a very comfortable bike for dodgy shoulders too! Thanks for sharing your adventures, both 👍
Yes counter intuitively it is the easiest of all my bikes to handle with my tricky shoulders - thanks to its low centre of gravity and brilliant damped reverse and forward creep modes….no other big bike comes close in my opinion!
Another great episode. Really enjoying this tour. I'm making notes of the route as we've not really done much touring around France. Looking forward to the next installment 😁
Great to see high class video of the roads I've traversed thrice these past summers by car and my NC750X DCT. Jealous of the comfort of your Goldwing, but it would frustrate me not being able to set the speedo to kph and using twice the fuel!
All good Andy. Love the DCT. Spectacular views. Hey, rich people have to spend their money somewhere. Glad it's theirs. Great weather all considered. After the big ride how about a summary of a few of the expenses like tunnels and highway tolls. Next time. From east Kentucky USA. No tolls here, just trolls.
A man after my own heart Andy, love and hate those hairpins, my Mrs like yours loves every minute which does instill confidence, keep it going excellent series 🫡🫣
Fantastic, I know the area quite well, was in La Rosiere in March, small resort, lots of skiing area though as it links to Italy, unfortunately via a very long drag lift!
I'm glad you think that James! Out of interest why do you say that, what about it makes you like it more, scenery? Factthat it's not a guided tour? Fact that it's on the Wing? ...or what?? Grateful for the feedback!
in the mid 80s I trekked Tour du Mont Blanc 120 miles over 10 days. Still the best trek I have ever done.Nearly did an ascent of Mont Blanc but no money!!
Another interesting and entertaining tour video, you probably picked the right time of year to tour as the weather was still warm and dry enough to ensure you didn't have be permanently layered up with thermals and waterproof's etc and best of all the holiday traffic had all disappeared which makes the rides far more enjoyable. The scenery and roads continue to be awesome although the alpine villages you passed through were not quite as picturesque as those you rode through earlier in the trip, Megeve looks nice and worth a visit although with two salads costing Euro 75 I might have to take my own sandwiches 😀 looking forward to the next Saturday's episode of "Winging it"
Great roads, spectacular views. Very interesting hear how the DCT managed the switchbacks. Looks like you didn't miss feathering the clutch? Great trip. Cheers Arthur🏍
Yes they were much worse than the video made them look and I had to have my big boy pants on!!! Having said that, the 'WIng handled them with aplomb and they were nowhere near as tricky as I thought they might be on such a heavily laden heavy bike with a frozen shoulder!
@@TheMissendenFlyer LOL. indeed they needed to big big pants too! I can recommend lake Iseo for an Italian adventure, not sure about the roads but for a break it is great.
Great ride, lovely scenery but €75 for a salad, I'd make a detour of that town. Good to see you both enjoying the Gold Wing. Last time I went to France was in a Mazda MX5 with the top down which I can also recommend.😊
Another great vid I also ride a wing two up and absolutely love the Alps views are amazing. The wing handles the corners effortlessly although mine is a manual! I laughed at you BUMP Carol means you missed it!! Happy holidays ☀️👍
Great ride guys, the Wing is impressing me more each time. Interesting shop behind you “A Allard” as my son’s name is Allard! Love Carol truck spotting on hairpins, and looking forward to next week already. 👍
i think they use thermal imaging for checking hotspots on the lorries to guard against a lorry catching fire in tunnel after the mont blanc fire in 1999. enjoying this series ty
Absolutely agree about the DCT and the hairpins, it’s the same with U-Turns and yet I regularly read comments about how the DCT makes U-Turns impossible, they can’t have ridden the DCT Goldwing BTW this is a great video series
@ hi Richard, so I would have agreed with you a few years ago but in 2023 I attended a course with Anti Pilote de Ligne Droite, you likely won’t believe me but you do not need the friction point to do the turns, watch his videos on RUclips, hopefully you will understand what he is doing? Remember you are used to tight turns using the friction zone so this is another way which is where the problem comes
@@joycecottingham9432 I’m not quite understanding what you mean by the clutch being a safety device on hairpin bends? You did actually mention U turns in your original reply though?
Perfect timing! 🤣😂🤣🏍. Great stuff, towards the end the camera angles became ‘slightly artistic’ so we didn’t get the views which you were obviously enjoying! I haven’t been to Chamonix since the late eighties, it was pricey enough even back then! Looking forward to the next episode 👏😀👍🏍
Was just a little North of Megeve, had a few days in Sallanches before passing through Chamonix and crossing the Grimsel and Sussten pass on our way to Switzerland in July this year. 26-30deg sunshine for 10 days, had a fabulous time on my GS1200.
Epic trip. Awesome coverage today. Done this road and many passes in CH, switchbacks are hard when 2 up and panniers, but still worth it. I have to trail brake whilst accelerating uphill, sporty to keep it upright. Stelvio was a killer!!
@@TheMissendenFlyer just fo info, and for others, there are 3 route's up. Easy, moderate and hard. I did the hard then moderate. It was hard but great! Also keep in mind, you cannot open up the corners, or maintain flow, as there are many motorhomes and cyclists, can't get the rhythm. This also applies to some Swiss passes. Enjoy, keep up the great vlogs!
@TheMissendenFlyer up, in heavy mist, and roadworks with dumper trucks over flowing with grit going up and down. I'm sure the wife actually shat herself 😱.
Hi Andy, I enjoy your patter and "down to earth" approach to presenting information. With my wife on the back, we are always interested in new routes and destinations. As a suggestion, to make the destination more appealing give the viewer a bit more background on why you chose the destination. A few more facts about the place, or a walkabout to the "must see" attractions would not go amiss. Just a thought, not a criticism. Keep up the good work! Cheers.
Nicely spotted truck on a hairpin by TMF.XX; one thing about casting your mind up the road - it creates entangled beables with the observer's mind forming a 4D mind crystal with itself at that future nexus of embuggerance that resonates at a frequency low enough to couple with the vagus nerve, thus communicating a sense of foreboding - oft called a 'gut feeling', that experienced riders know is the reason why they were able to become experienced in the first place. Quantum mechanics and motorcycles is a beautiful thing. Cheers 😁🎓🏍🚚
Agree with you Andy, downhill on hairpins are easier on the goldwing. Try using the up and down paddles to select gears for engine braking and uphill stability
Enjoying your continuing travels - as always an entertaining vid. Like you said, you only live once - so eating in Megève not cheap, but hey...If you're going on tour in those parts, do it properly! Don't know where you had dinner in Briançon, but it has a some really great eateries. See you both in the next installment.✌
Good Day Mr. & Mrs. Flyer, I'm really enjoying your tour and makes me question why I emigrated to the U.S. Andy, I noticed you shifting around on the bike seat and reminded me of when I had the OEM seat on my 2023 GL1800 DCT Tour. I finally went the Russell Day Long route and after 3000 miles have not found a limit on how long I can stay in the seat. When are you going to install the Innovv - Third Eye Blind Spot Detection system on the Goldwing. Innovv also worked with BMW and they have a great option for the GS. Thanks again for bringing us along on the "Winging it" tour.
Actually I find the standard seat very comfy - in fact the best seat on any bike I've ever ridden!! I like blind spot detection but not if it means trailing cables and cameras all over the bike which I assume the Innov does?
The tour video's are brilliant. The only problem is jealousy 😂. The motorway looked a little better than the M6 through the midlands. And you shouldn't stress about the hairpins, you do them a piece of piss. 👍
Ah the M6 around Brum, up there with the M25 around Heathrow for my least favourite bits of road to be on. Thank you for the kind words, I may sound calm but those hairpins are hairy!!!
You underestimate how good a rider you are Andy, great work. Touring vids might not get a lot of views, but we who watch them are very much appreciative. Thankyou

Glad you enjoyed it
What a great ride, I did a similar route coming back from Mugello in the mid 90s 2 up on a Kawasaki 550 Zephyr, it brought back many happy memories, thanks.
My pleasure!
Stunning roads, fingers crossed I’ll get there one day, having a great trip away really helps you bond with a bike
Yes that’s certainly what I found!
@TheMissendenFlyer it's surprising, how some big bikes can be so easy to manage. I hope to be able to get a wing sometime. 👍
Brilliant video Andy. Thanks for your efforts in producing such great content 👍
My pleasure!
Another great episode. Really enjoying this tour. I'm making notes of the route as we've not really done much touring around France. Looking forward to the next installment 😁
Yes it’s a fabulous country - something for everyone in France, no wonder it’s the world’s most visited country….
Stunning roads there Andy your have to pack lunch around that area mate keep up the great vids love the series with both of you 👍
great video guys thoroughly enjoyed it looking forward to the next instalment, thanks
Our pleasure!
A man after my own heart Andy, love and hate those hairpins, my Mrs like yours loves every minute which does instill confidence, keep it going excellent series 🫡🫣
Cheers Alan, clearly my Mrs doesn’t understand the peril she’s in when we take those hair pins!
Fantastic, I know the area quite well, was in La Rosiere in March, small resort, lots of skiing area though as it links to Italy, unfortunately via a very long drag lift!
Yes this is definitely your best tour yet
I'm glad you think that James! Out of interest why do you say that, what about it makes you like it more, scenery? Factthat it's not a guided tour? Fact that it's on the Wing? ...or what?? Grateful for the feedback!
in the mid 80s I trekked Tour du Mont Blanc 120 miles over 10 days. Still the best trek I have ever done.Nearly did an ascent of Mont Blanc but no money!!
Great vistas , I am with you on enjoying coming down the mountains rather than going up. It’s easier to put your foot down if it’s tight corners. 👍👍👍👍
Ooh the thought of putting my foot down on the WIng scares me....!!
The scenery and roads continue to be awesome although the alpine villages you passed through were not quite as picturesque as those you rode through earlier in the trip, Megeve looks nice and worth a visit although with two salads costing Euro 75 I might have to take my own sandwiches 😀 looking forward to the next Saturday's episode of "Winging it"
Yes the scenery and episodes just get better from now on I reckon!
Watch all your tour videos this one just as good I’m enjoying the ride .
Glad to hear it - thank you!
Great roads, spectacular views. Very interesting hear how the DCT managed the switchbacks. Looks like you didn't miss feathering the clutch? Great trip. Cheers Arthur🏍
No I don't at all - the Wing seems to guess it right.....
Another epic episode, gotta love that scenery! Great bit of riding. Some of those hairpins look rather testing.
Great video Andy, I could have watched an hour of that. Cheers.
Thank you very much!
Another great vid I also ride a wing two up and absolutely love the Alps views are amazing. The wing handles the corners effortlessly although mine is a manual! I laughed at you BUMP Carol means you missed it!! Happy holidays ☀️👍
Holidays?? I wish!!!
Great ride guys, the Wing is impressing me more each time.
Interesting shop behind you “A Allard” as my son’s name is Allard!
Love Carol truck spotting on hairpins, and looking forward to next week already. 👍
Really pleased to hear that Stephen thanks for the kind words, all the best - Andy
i think they use thermal imaging for checking hotspots on the lorries to guard against a lorry catching fire in tunnel after the mont blanc fire in 1999. enjoying this series ty
Absolutely agree about the DCT and the hairpins, it’s the same with U-Turns and yet I regularly read comments about how the DCT makes U-Turns impossible, they can’t have ridden the DCT Goldwing
BTW this is a great video series
Thank you - and yes the Wing is suprisingly good at this sort of thing...a fabulous bit of kit.
Hi,I’ve had both and of course a clutch helps with u-turns and hairpins .Richard Cottingham 😊
@@UltimateDazzle Hi,I don’t plan to use the friction point on hairpins , the clutch is a great safety device though Richard .
Glad you enjoyed it!
Was just a little North of Megeve, had a few days in Sallanches before passing through Chamonix and crossing the Grimsel and Sussten pass on our way to Switzerland in July this year. 26-30deg sunshine for 10 days, had a fabulous time on my GS1200.
Sounds wonderful!
Epic trip. Awesome coverage today.
Done this road and many passes in CH, switchbacks are hard when 2 up and panniers, but still worth it. I have to trail brake whilst accelerating uphill, sporty to keep it upright. Stelvio was a killer!!
Yes I'm still pondering the Stelvio!
Me and the wife did the NC500 2 weeks ago on our GL1800. Applecross pass and bealach na ba were great loaded up. Had a great time.
Nicely done sir - not sure I'd fancy the Applecross (that one turn in particular) on the Wing.....esp going uphill! Did you do it uphill or down??
@TheMissendenFlyer up, in heavy mist, and roadworks with dumper trucks over flowing with grit going up and down. I'm sure the wife actually shat herself 😱.
Can't blame her for that!
Cheers.
Always appreciate constructive feedback Steve - thank you!
The Alps take some beating, so beautiful !
They sure are, we’re very lucky to have them to hand….
Cheers
😁🎓🏍🚚
I’ll have to take your word for that!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Understood, it takes a while to grok the wholeness of the implicate order ...
🤣🤣🤣

@@charlesharrison3032 been studying a lot of the foundations of QM atm, so don't harsh my vibe man :)
French Alps are great. The balcony roads are terrifying but spectacular views.. no traffic and no potholes.
Yes a real treat for us Brits to experience!
Enjoying the tour videos, love this part of Europe
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing your bike tours
My pleasure!
Agree with you Andy, downhill on hairpins are easier on the goldwing. Try using the up and down paddles to select gears for engine braking and uphill stability
Thanks for the tip! ....I hadn't thought of that!! (of course I had, I'm just being sarcastic....)
Brilliant have to say you negotiated the hairpins perfectly. Great views does the bike change gear by itself depending on your speed.
Yes it does (and revs I guess) - DCT is brill on a big touring bike like the 'WIng.....and thank you!
I'm sure adding a response to my own comment is bad form, but.....Andy - have you ridden a Bagger????
I have indeed - there are reviews on here somewhere….
Another great tour vid, feel like I'm on board with you both. Hey, there's more drama crossing from Lancashire to Yorkshire haha.
Really enjoying your tour. It would be nice if Mrs Flyer was audible with you and part of the travelling commentary.
Maybe one day!
Without the scary hairpins you wouldn’t get the views, love the Alps😀👍
Excellent video and series 👍🏻
Thank you! 👍
Absolutely love the videos keep them coming. Could you show how you have attached the 360 stick to the Goldwing please.
Just a sticky mount that came with the 360…
