Thanks bud. It was a fun ride for sure. I sold it only because I missed having something that I could take one other person with me. Ill be getting another one in the future though. Did you order the honey core or the gator shell?
So...what’s your feedback after using it for a year! What are the positives and draw backs ...do you recommend trailer or transporting in duffel and then set up at launch area! Is it STABLE? Thanks
If you get one I highly suggest to get the gator shell version over the fiberglass one. I don’t think they make the glass one anymore but just in case you’re looking at used ones.
Unfortunately I don’t have the bote anymore. However, loading and unloading it is similar to launching a regular boat. Wish I could help but if I can find a video for you, I’ll send you a link.
Hey Chris, thanks for the video. Good info! I have one of these arriving to Costa Rica next week. I am about to pick up a motor but not sure if I’m going with a 6 hp or a 9.8. I’ve heard different people recommend each. I will be using mine in open ocean and though I don’t need it to be crazy fast, I don’t want to feel bogged down either. I weigh 170 and will probably have 60-70 pounds of gear and up to 50+ pounds of fish. Any thoughts?
Hey no problem! I’ve always believed in getting the bigger motor for things like carrying more weight/gear. Your wrist controls how fast you go, so just go at your comfortable speed. You’ll probably regret it if you get the smaller motor and it doesn’t perform the way you need it to be. In my eyes you can’t go wrong with the 9.8. If I knew that the river could handle the 9.8 back then, I would have definitely gotten that.
Congrats on the new craft!!! First off, to each his own, and also, I understand ya want to get into kayak tournament fishing. But if it wasn't for that, I believe you would've been tickled to death with "the Twin Troller X-10". I bought my Twin Troller 22 months ago, and I can honestly say after owning several boats over the years, including a brand new 17' bass boat with 115 Yamaha, the Twin Troller on a "dollar for dollar" basis, is hands down the best value I ever purchased in a fishing boat. I use it all over the Stick Marsh & Farm 13 ( and other places too, of course ). I carry 8 rods, 4 in each side tray, totally out of the way & organized, right at arms reach, and no rod straps needed at all, even when running my 3.5 Tohatsu 4 stroke in choppy water. But the real blast is the twin electric salt water grade MotorGuides hidden & recessed up inside each pontoon that are totally protected by aluminum grates. It uses patented twin pedals, and is the ONLY fishing boat you can truly operate totally hands free. Check em out here all over youtube. You can beat the seamless hull with a baseball bat, it's that tough. You can use the twin pedals to spin a 360 on axis, even go straight backwards, all with your feet, and not even thinking about it. It also runs in 7 inches of water, with the outboard trimmed completely out of the water. I absolutely love it & highly recommend it to anyone. But it's 48" wide, so no way they would allow it in kayak fishing tournaments. Never ran the battery down yet, and my outboard is for traveling longer distances quicker. It just takes me longer to get there vs a bass boat. But I actually catch more fish out of this thing. The quality is top shelf, and 2 large men couldn't capsize it if they tried.......seriously.
We have just completed my very first video. It's not "super hi-def" by any means, but it's plenty good enough for my intentions. As soon as my buddy gets back home, within 10 days or so, I will be sending him the video to post on his channel, because he has started a project to help all Twin Troller owners & those thinking about buying one. I have invented what I truly believe is the best modification for the Twin Troller, barr none. Nearly every owner & soon to be owner will want to make themselves one. What is it? I can't "spill the beans", as the video will be "the big reveal". It's a very long video, and Gerry will probably post it in 3 parts. But aside from my "surprise mod"........it's packed with useful information, including money saving tips, and on the water demonstrations. I will keep ya posted Chris. You can come "critique me" for a change.......lol. I think you will find it interesting.....and my mod is most likely going to impress everyone. I basically just made the Twin Troller a TRUE "mini bass boat". Fair warning.......I am EXTREMELY UGLY.........I can make a freight train take a dirt road......LOL!!! If I can't poke fun at myself, I have no Right to poke fun at others. Tight Lines buddy!!!.....Steve.......
hey sorry I didn't see your comment till now. I bought that at a paddle board shop in Orlando. Look up sup and skiff outfitters. They have all kinds of different things!
Nice review man. I just bought an aero rover here in Miami and I wonder if you could provide me with the links where you purchased the ram mounts from. Would you still have them?
I bought the mounts from Ram mounts website. As for the specific parts here are the links. Threaded ball - www.rammount.com/part/RAP-B-379U-252050-KAY1 Transducer Mount - www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-316-18-TRA1-TRA1U 18" PVC Pipe with Single Socket Arms - www.rammount.com/part/RAP-BB-201-18U I hope this helps a little bit. Best thing to do is brows around on the ram mounts website and look for stuff that will work for your setup. Have fun the aero!
Thank you! I'm not too sure how it paddles without the motor. But it does paddle a lot easier when the motor is trimmed up. If the motor is down, the prop creates too much drag.
Awesome video, absolutely love the bote but I would love to know what’s the type of trailer ur using n where did u get it plz. Thnx keep up the great videos
Thank you! You are absolutely correct however this particular board is made with fiberglass and gel coat. This board was made before they went to the thermoplastic. I don’t think they make fiberglass boards anymore, so this video can be a little confusing on some topics lol.
Yeah that board is super fragile. That’s why they went to the thermoplastic (gator shell) it was a pain to try and baby the thing at the boat ramp. One little bump on the dock and boom there’s a dent 😂
@@ChrisMitchellFishing awesome. Thanks for the reply. I'm actually leaning towards the inflatable one. I had some experience with an inflatable kayak last year and was super impressed with the durability along with the weight. So I'm thinking if I can have an ISUP plus the option to motor it that may be the way I go.
Unfortunately I don't have it anymore. When I did have it I found that it was really fragile. after a while there would be cracks where the motor bracket mounts and it couldn't handle small dings. However that was the honey core model. I'd imagine the gator shell model would be better but I'm not 100% sure.
Thank you! I wouldn't screw anything into the board but if I looked at it long enough, I'm sure there is a way. If I can figure something out, I'll get back to you.
I am an apartment dweller in the city. I’m looking at the Bote, or the Sea Eagle skiff. I also drive a small, 5 door hatchback. I don’t have storage for a trailer, so I’m limited. I’m actually leaning towards the inflatable version of the Bote, but would prefer the solid board. Thanks for the response. Also, do you think these are ok for the inter coastal and back bays?
Can you please give a more specific rundown/specs on the fish finder? Great video. Currently waiting on the Mrs to give the okay to pull the trigger on the rover.
about 5k with the mercury. Bote sells the board with a cheaper motor for about 3k. The mercury is about $1,700 alone and the cheaper motor that comes with the board now is about 500 alone last time I looked.
I have the Rover Gatorshell Classic, really a fun board. My issue's have only come with the company. First my hull number was wrong, 11 digits instead of 12 so i wasn't able to register it. Then when i purchased the RotoPax to mount on the MotorRac i realized the rack wouldnt accept the RotoPax, called the company and they told me they changed the mounts without letting dealers know. So i was stuck with $200 worth of gas cans i couldnt use. They sent me 2 that would be able to mount but they were terrible, shedding plastic, nozzle didnt fit, all cheap plastic. They lied a few more times about inspecting the products and resolutions. Final outcome i still have no mountable gas option and Im waiting for Bote to "finalize" a mountable gas can. Sounds like small issues but there is a bunch of back and fourth i left out, its been a terrible experience.
That's a bummer man. I use a 3 gallon gas tank that connects to the motor. I feel like using separate gas cans to fill the inside motor gas tank would be a mess. I haven't had to deal with them yet but from everything else I hear about them, I hope they fix their customer service soon!
Sick set up man. I just ordered one last week. Can’t wait to get on it

What is the “Y” with the red piece support called? I have a Bote rover gatorshell micro skiff and need this exact piece. 😊
It’s called a 4” V-Bow Stop.
(model number - 297690)
The bracket is a C E Smith keel roller bracket. I picked both of them up at my local West Marine.

@ChrisMitchellFishing One last question 🙋♀️ what size is the front yellow roller? Is it a 3”? 🤔
Sorry for the late response! Yes it is 3”. That one came with the trailer with the winch.

With a little bit of muscle they can be. Its much easier with trailer or on the bed of the truck.
