Lily taking initiative and sorting out the clothes to dry all on her own doing was amazing to see. And Josiah and Jonah masterfully using those heavy machines to save the barn was awesome. I think they have officially become men!
Community is so important especially in these sort of times. My husband and I lived through an F5 tornado that hit Joplin, MO. It was amazing to see the community and people from all over the country come together to help rebuild.
I am sure the pigs were happy to be out of the dark. That was great Rebecca got out to get fuel and pork rinds. You guys got so much accomplished quickly after the storm. Jonah and Josiah continue to impress me. These boys are great.❤

I hope we don't forget and every one can be made whole or reunited. As a city person, your videos from all over the area has given me and I'm sure many more, a greater appreciation for what we have and what we lack. We lack the know-how of sustaining ourselves like the country, hill, mountain and those in the holler people. We have and can learn so much. Regardless of location, its always the locals that take the lead until extra help is available. I'm seeing 36" and 24" water lines install after 2 days of cutting through trees in Asheville and pipes in ground 3 days later and pressurizing 1,800 miles of water line to help 80% of customers. Glad the barn is still standing.

Things happen! I was close to a wildfire but it stayed away from my property. Count it a blessing if it misses you or mostly misses you. Part of being self-sustaining is that you are ready for events like this when they happen. The fact that you had machinery is helping you a lot and saving you lots of money now. When I was in the eye of Hurricane Charley in 2004 we had access to heavy machinery from a construction job my husband was working on. Everything helps!

For future 100yr floods, you could put huge huge rocks right on that side of the pole barn to divert flow back away from barn...
