    True story.... was in a Starbucks in Cardiff, Wales..... These "in a band" looking dudes were sitting in a booth near the register. They asked me which state I was from after hearing my accent when I placed my order. We started talking music and they asked me what I was listening to. I said "Thin Lizzy/Jailbreak of course" as I'd been listening to that record every day for the past 6 months. Two of these 4 dudes kinda did a doubletake and in unison asked what I was up to tonight, I said I had no plans and they told me to come see their band and they were gonna put me on the guestlist/buy me a beer after the show. I was thankful and happy to be meeting some fellow americans to hang out with in Wales. During the show, I was thinking these dudes sounded alot like Thin Lizzy. After they broke into a Jailbreak cover, I asked the dude next to me if they were a Thin Lizzy cover band or something. He said "See the dude up there? That's Scott Gorham and he was IN Thin Lizzy! I was shocked and awed by this awesome band.... Never did stick around for that beer tho. They seemed pretty busy and didn't want to be "that dude".... Nice guys tho.....It was the bassist, the guitarist and the drummer with a friend from this band here!

    Man, I wish they'd have a jailbreak near my town but I guess I'll have to be content knowing that Scott is still alive and well and playing great.

      @@barcham It’s not for me either but I think maybe it’s an age thing. The young, who don’t remember TL, seem to think this is amazing. Those of us who are old enough to remember TL have something to compare it to, and so we find it quite weird that an original TL member would now be playing in a TL cover band. I guess SG just still really loves playing while also keeping the legacy of TL and Phil alive - so bless his heart for that. Having said that I can’t help feeling sad SG (post TL) never found other talents who were up there with him and the others from TL so he could’ve had a second career with another band creating new original music. Yes he played with Sykes and Downey but they didn’t create new material so something vital was missing. I think TL was truly done in 1983 because Phil was done. But who knows what might have happened in the 90s maybe if Phil had been able to recover as SG did. If only…. right? I’m just sad they/SG didn’t get a second chance to really shine since they/SG had the talent to do so.

    Scott was the most melodic lead in Thin Lizzy. It was Phil and Scott that made the band.

    I love BSR first 2 albums but this guy was the wrong choice to replace Phil in Thin Lizzy and it was
    a good idea to dump Sykes who turned Lizzy into a metal disaster after Phil died. Scott Gorham was
    always over shadowed by other faster guitarist but he was always my favorite and played best leads!

    Keeping Phil's music alive or cashing in on his legacy?

    • @RexApplegate
      @RexApplegate 9 месяцев назад +1

      I think they adequately admitted they're riding on Phil with their band name. But I also think they earn the right to continue without this being a moral or musical issue by making their own new music and having an original Thin Lizzy member as a founder and still sometimes participant.
