I just noticed that you were here! I think I watched this video like 6 years ago without knowing who you were. It’s awesome to see you working with Sky and Josh.
I don't understand the people who disliked this... This kind of talent in our scene is rare cause most people just stick with root notes and octave and as much as it complements the rest of the music the bassist doesn't really have to work hard at all
Melissa McNally this so much! I hate that people call this pop metal when it’s not at all like pop music. Their voicings and progression hell even their writing is rnb/jazz driven.
A lot of bass in metalcore tends to follow the rhythm guitar, so it doesn't stand out very much. Props to Skyler for adding some funk/jazz elements, while still keeping it heavy
That was amazing. It sure is a shame that most songs nowadays push bass back into the mix, you can't even appreciate the bass without seeing a playthrough like this!
I'm not sure what I'm more impressed with: Skyler's raw talent or how tastefully done everything he's written is. Even on their self-titled, his work is in that perfect spot where it doesn't distract but makes your ears perk up and go "ooh".
How does someone hit dislike? Do you not like the song? His technique? That you can't rip the bass? That you're not in a successful band? People are strange.
+Griztophe LeBaire Not every band. In fact most bands I've heard in the last few years know where they want to go and have a consistent sound through the first few albums at least. If its a change, it usually comes as a greater impact because its stepping out of the norm for most of the fans. With Issues it feels like with every release they take strides in perfecting their sound rather than the normal baby steps most bands nowadays take when changing. Thats what I feel like when listening to them anyway. I may be completely off about it. lol
Its so cool to see somebody still use the slap and and finger style as opposed to a pick. True talent and bass appreciation is lacking in most modern music. Sky is a beast!
I don't know anything about bass, but listening to this song, it definitely shines the importance of the bass and why it's important to music. Thanks Sky for teaching this to us! ❤
Kevin James one of the best bassist. there are other bassists with similar feats such as Evan Brewer, Arif Mirabdolbaghi, Dan Briggs, Clay Gober, and there are also younger bassists who are exceptionally talented such as Anna Sentina and Davie504

and that everyone is what i call a real bass player. not the kind who never practice and play bass cause he suck at guitar. thats real bass ^laying right there! respect!
Awesome playing. Does anyone know what program they use to get the bass to be played through the computer like this? Probably something obvious, but I've only ever used IMovie and I don't think you can do that on the program. Thanks!
I dont know what Issues uses, but you are most likely looking for a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like Cubase, Reaper, Ableton, FL Studio, Presonus Studio One, programs like that.. And youll need an audio interface, like a Focusrite Scarlet, or some mics, If you're looking to record directly into your computer. I would use the interface instead of a mic, personally.. But its all about what you can afford i guess.. That should get you started on the right track at least.. Take care!
+Nick McMillen I'm using cubase cuz it's what i have not cuz it's the best haha. I recommend protools, mostly cuz it's good to be proficient in it as it's the industry standard.
+vomitoriumbassist Thanks so much for the help. I've downloaded Reaper and hope I can use it to possibly start making bass covers again :) Thanks again.
It's refreshing to listen to heavy music where there is emphasis on bass!
+Johnny Franck Productions OMG Johnny Franck of Attack Attack! Nice to see you here listening to some bass tunes :D
I just noticed that you were here! I think I watched this video like 6 years ago without knowing who you were. It’s awesome to see you working with Sky and Josh.
Sky is the first bassist to actually make me wanna learn bass.
ditto lol. go to a guitar center and theyll let you play.
he gets so into it! it looks fun!
+Miguelizk00l that's what sky used to do
You should look op clay gober of polyphia, he is so fun to watch!
+kyismetal listen to primus
heavy music needs more bassist like Sky
It doesn't have to sound like Whitechapel or Slipknot to be heavy music. I'll call it what I want.
check out tesseract. your welcome.
Check out Beyond Creation. You'll never listen to this again
+Scott Seigel basically anything prog metal
+RoastBeefSandwich ne obliviscarus too
I don't understand the people who disliked this... This kind of talent in our scene is rare cause most people just stick with root notes and octave and as much as it complements the rest of the music the bassist doesn't really have to work hard at all
Melissa McNally this so much! I hate that people call this pop metal when it’s not at all like pop music. Their voicings and progression hell even their writing is rnb/jazz driven.
bass playthroughs are hella underrated. this is dope!
+Anthony Ghazel That's because most bands bass players just play exactly what the guitarist does. Sky is a rare breed in his scene.
+Jeremy Michael wish more played like sky he's so fucking dope 😊👌🏾🤘🏽
He does what the guitar is doing a lot but has a decent amount of parts where he's not. It's all about having balance. And a sick tone.
A lot of bass in metalcore tends to follow the rhythm guitar, so it doesn't stand out very much. Props to Skyler for adding some funk/jazz elements, while still keeping it heavy
sky gave me a new appreciation for the bass
Literally my favorite video ever.
As a bassist I look up to (the) Sky as my role model.
+asd asd You can take lessons with him! I had a lesson with him over Skype not too long ago and he was super helpful and really awesome to talk to!
+Nick Spillert aw thats cute
This video should prove all reasons on why Sky won Best Bassist at the APMA's
That was amazing. It sure is a shame that most songs nowadays push bass back into the mix, you can't even appreciate the bass without seeing a playthrough like this!
Then you'll like the album. Bass mix was a radical shift to the forefront. Check out the actual vid for this song.
Hands down the BEST bassist in the scene. Sky just rules !
I'm not sure what I'm more impressed with: Skyler's raw talent or how tastefully done everything he's written is. Even on their self-titled, his work is in that perfect spot where it doesn't distract but makes your ears perk up and go "ooh".
Sky Acord is literally a boss,
2:44 That snap to bass face though, best part of the whole video.
Those 3 dislikes fuck with those mind games.
👏👏😂
W
C.J. Santos 😂😂😂
Nicee😂😂
I never had a favorite bassist until now!
Sometimes it's crazy stupid how good people are at things. Sky kills it every time.
How does someone hit dislike? Do you not like the song? His technique? That you can't rip the bass? That you're not in a successful band?
People are strange.
+Michael B i was thinking the same thing. of course, i'm his mom so i'm a bit biased but GEEZ! this brotha is GOOD
+Sonya Kaye ....your his mom? Cool!!!
@@sonyakaye9081 lmao I don't think I've ever seen someone's mum comment on their video🤣
For me it feels like:
Black Diamonds -> Searching For A Signature Sound
Self-Titled -> Found it.
Headspace -> Perfecting their sound.
I feel the same
+Griztophe LeBaire Not every band. In fact most bands I've heard in the last few years know where they want to go and have a consistent sound through the first few albums at least. Thats what I feel like when listening to them anyway. I may be completely off about it. lol
+Griztophe LeBaire No, but plenty seemed to know what they were wanting to go for.
+Griztophe LeBaire Issues career took off since their EP. They have always been popular since a lot of Woe Is Me fans came over.
same
Sky's playing is lit af. This new album is going to be FIRE.
really hope there'll be more songs on the album that showcase bass like this. sky is so talented and he deserves more recognition!
Its so cool to see somebody still use the slap and and finger style as opposed to a pick. True talent and bass appreciation is lacking in most modern music. Sky is a beast!
the video effects make the playthrough so interesting & you can really see how talented he is!!
that lick at 2:07 is real freaking smooth
Skyler te amamos!
desde Chile
god bless these dedos!
i love sky's lil dance after his solo. so cute, can't wait to hear the rest of the album!!
Sky is so sick and probably one of the nicest band dudes I've ever met ... I met him like 2 years ago at a show and he was so cool
this is groovy as hell, reminds me of a Polyphia song
+Mobi which one ?
+Mohamed Issam El Kbaiche ehh none in particular
sky's so talented! and also has nice hair!
+sibria mone't mom agees
I don't know anything about bass, but listening to this song, it definitely shines the importance of the bass and why it's important to music. Thanks Sky for teaching this to us! ❤
+Adilia Balderas just listen with 5.0 audio speaker and you will know what is bass
Easily one of my fav basists. Skyler has such a unique sound i love it!
sky is one of the best Bass players in the scene
Definitely going to be learning this! Sky is such an awesome bassist, he really carries the music.
One of the best bass players out there. God damn.
I'm speechless. Sky never fails to impress. ❤

Yaay I think because of sky heavy music is finally getting more appreciation for the bass
i love how he feels the music as he plays it it's awesome
I love how happy he is when he's playing ✨.
+Katherine Figueroa he was like that as a little boy too
Best birthday present ever.
Thanks, Rise and Sky.
Sky is the best bassist in our era no doubt
Kevin James one of the best bassist. there are other bassists with similar feats such as Evan Brewer, Arif Mirabdolbaghi, Dan Briggs, Clay Gober, and there are also younger bassists who are exceptionally talented such as Anna Sentina and Davie504
Kevin James definitely one of the best
my favorite has to be Simon Grove
Perfect open-minded bassist. Great talent. Great technique. Can mix a lot of different genres + always enjoys the groove!
wow we asked for it and relieved it!
This guy is definitely one of the most talented bassists I've heard in the 'core genres.
Funkiest bass man in metalcore/hardcore
Fun fact: ''Acord'' is almost portuguese for ''chord'' (acorde)
PORTUGAL FOR THE WIN MIGÃO
RickySmart2001 Desculpe desapontar, mas...

Awesome groove, bass line, and bass tone!!!
Dudde i really love how this band improve their style and that bass has too much groove!
The musicianship is sick on this record, I can already tell.
I LOVE SKYLER SO MUCH
that was incredible!! I can't wait to get my hands on a bass
Sky is always killing it can't wait to hear some of the heavier songs on the new album I hope the Michael isn't going completely clean vocals
+Carsen Hookings that would be sad
+noahisalive YESS his clean vocals are nice but I love their heavy stuff much more
Sky is phenomenal

SLAPPA DA BASS MAHN
I had to listen to that run at 2:07 about 20 times.
Sky is so amazing! I'm still in the process of trying to learn this song lol
+Salem Vale lmao make a video with tabs if you learn it
+Spencer Nichols (Exposed-Flannel) I will lol I'm only like hallway through it though.
Sky is one of an elite group of bassist with actual talent
Holy shit that slap solo though. That's really going to take some time to get right, but it will motivate me to practice slapping and popping :)
It's nice!!! that guy can play the bass!
I play bass and never had a bass player I looked up to until now.
Sky is too good.
Bom seria se desse pra escutar o Baixo assim nas músicas!
That feeling dude, yeah!

sky looks like a boys2men member and stumbled upon rock hahaha. so inspirational tho.
love the way he slap
