I do think this is one of their best songs of the álbum, the ending is so poetic and epic, the guitar riffs are fantastic along with the keyboards, it is impressive what they do in order to create the perfect atmosphere of the song
Usually content creators cover the biggest songs of a band, their singles or newest songs but the fact that you are going over each song giving your thoughts and interpretation is rad. 👏
A very (very) long time ago, my then girlfriend gave me one of the greatest birthday gifts of my life: a complete collection of Edgar Allan Poe's works, with the original illustrations. I have read that book maybe 20-30 times, and I have read aloud every poem in it many times over. All of it is no short of magnificent, at least to these eyes. Almost two hundred years on, Poe's body of work is now appreciated, and oftentimes revered, by readers around the world, despite his relative obscurity at the time, to which his dark themes certainly contributed. I can only hope that Dani's lyrics, so repulsive to most of humankind these days, will one day be threading a similar line to mr. Poe's writings. Thank you for making these videos. Instant fan, here.
I always liked this song all the way back to the release of Midian, I appreciate the lyric analysis as it makes me appreciate the song even more with better understanding of the lyrics and themes it covers. Dani Filth has such a poetic way of writing that his lyrics really are great to examine.
You’re really the only person I can find on RUclips who is appreciating Dani Filth’s lyrics, and I’m so glad to see a new video! COF was one of the first bands I really got into when I was very young and becoming interested in music. I’m a couple decades older now and while I don’t listen to the music much anymore, I’ve come back around to Dani’s lyrics and I just read them for hours. I’m enthralled with the depth of knowledge, the history, the references, the brilliant wordplay. I learn so much by reading his words, it’s a never ending rabbit hole. I can honestly say that Dani is my favorite poet of all time, and Death Magick for Adepts is my favorite of them all! I’m so happy you did a video about this song, it only deepened my appreciation for the work! Thanks for doing what you do, it seems unreal to me that he isn’t more widely discussed as a poet/writer.
I can relate to everything you said! Discovering CoF helped me improve my English as a teen, as I would spend hours just listening and reading the lyrics with a dictionary at hand. That's why I started the channel, I've had so many thoughts on these songs for such a long time, and wanted to share them with other people who appreciate his lyrics. Thank you for your comment and support!
awesome thankyou so so much, love all the songs on Vempire album :), I appreciate it heaps ,explaining the lyrics as you do makes me enjoy the music and albums even more, the way you explained the cruelty and the beast album was fantastic THANKS AGAIN :) @@dr.metalhead5452
Next video will be about Moonspell, fantastic! 🇵🇹 Cradle Of Filth and Moonspell are definitely two of my favorite bands. Dani Filth and Fernando Ribeiro are excellent people and there is a special affection between them and their bands. 🤟😋🤘
I'm so glad to hear that! Most of my followers are here for the CoF analyses, so whenever I discuss a different band I have no idea if anyone would be interested in watching it XD Indeed! Both CoF and Moonspell hold a special place in my heart, and "Mephisto" is my favourite Moonspell song.
@@dr.metalhead5452 My favorite Moonspell song is "Tenebrarum Oratorium" from the EP "Under the Moonspell" released around 1995. Here is a list of 5 Moonspell songs that may work in future analyses: "Alma Mater", "Full Moon Madness", "Vampiria", "Ancient Winter Goddess" and "At Tragic Heights". Greetings from Portugal! 🤟🧔🤘
Thank you for doing these videos! I’ve always loved this track and thought it was really underrated. You doing lyric analysis really opens up this track even more for me ❤
I love your thorough analysis, especially how it's informed by your deep knowledge of history! Wow, the land of Cockayne...I had to look it up since I've never heard it before. When I first heard you say the word in the video, I thought it was "the land of cocaine" (the drug). It's interesting that Cockayne and cocaine sound so similar...I wonder if they have common roots. I just looked it up and apparently not - from Wikipedia: "The name of the drug cocaine is unrelated: it was named in 1860 by Albert Niemann from the plant coca (Quechua kúka) and the suffix -ine used to form chemical terms."
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts! I love it when songs give me the opportunity to go into history and especially the Middle Ages! That's true, I looked it up to and apparently they're unrelated, but it would fit really well XD
Not sure if Death Magic for Adepts is the best Cradle song or if it is even possible to pick the best one, but it's definitely up there somewhere. By the way, have you considered analyzing the rest of "Clarissa Trilogy" (Swansong for a Raven and Sisters of the Mist) as a retrospective of Dani's lyrics from 2000 to 2021?
That's a great idea, thanks for the suggestion! We sure agree on that. I'm always trying to pick my favourite CoF song but never manage to even come up with my top 3 xD

@@xenojones563 I agree! Thank you for watching
Cradle needs more songs with these kind of lyrics 🤩

Thank you v. much, forgot how damn good this song is!
My favorite youtuber strikes again. Amazing as always.
Thank you so much!
I love the ending poem and having Doug Bradley, the actor who brought us Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies, was the perfect choice.
Yes, it's brilliant!
love these COF song reactions!!!!!! please keep them coming, Would love to see anything from the VEMPIRE album
Thank you! Several people have requested Queen of Winter, so it's on my list.

The ending poem is in a league of itself. You could probably do an hour long video on that alone lol

Outro is...mature riff...theatrically
midiam is one of the bests albunss
Only men will appreciate this song.
What makes you say that?
You said you didn't appreciate this song when you were younger as much as the typical CoF songs that focus on dark beauty, gothic themes.
