WTF are FANNED FRETS? 🤔🤷🏻♂️

- Fanned-frets (or multi-scale) instruments place the frets at an angle to give each string a different scale length. This reduces the string tension in the higher strings, and at the other end you’ll find greater tension in the lower strings. We’re told by Dingwall that the end result is better intonation, tone and tuning accuracy across the whole fretboard.

I was watching this without a shirt and the bass made my fat rumble
That would be a good band name...Fat Rumble.
@@internettoughguyThe band is just two bassists, a vocalist and a drummer.
It’s the best of both worlds: more tension that you want for your lower strings and less tension to ease up for the higher strings.
This gets especially important for 8-string guitars and 6-string basses.
The high e-string (or g-string or c-string for bass) snaps most easily, so it’s best to have less tension so it can still feel nice and workable.
But for a low E, B, or F#? Flappiness and weak, noodly feel just isn’t good. You want that tension, that girth, that metal-as-hell feel so you can actually use the string and make it sound and feel massive and monstrous.
Unfortunately, it’s damn tough to find 6-string multiscale basses, especially when money is an issue and you can’t just go to a custom shop like Kiesel. There’s still good options, so don’t worry too much!
It’s the modern day Rickenbacker!
Love that!
@@devinebassI wonder how it sound slapping and Funking it, the Dingwall D -Rock Standard Purple/Blue Bass. I want one, but it cost about 1,889 to 2,174, it's out my price range at this time.
That is a disgustingly grotesque and ungodly bass... it's incredible
I was genuinely curious about the utility of multiscale basses but knowing that I also now understand why they're so prevalent in metal especially with those low tunings.
YES, Stretch Armstrong! 💪
Fantastic Bass 👍
I love multiscale basses I've got two of them and ordered another to complete the triad ;)
Yes dude! Building up a healthy collection 💪🏻
Basically it's like a Piano. Lower notes are longer AND heavier.
I just ordered an Ibanez BTB605MS, trying to get a 1 bass to do it all, we’ll see 😂
Peanuts are legumes, not nuts, but this bass is.
sick bass!!!!
My 8-string guitar is multiscale, and wow does it make a difference. Idk if I'd want a multiscale 6-string guitar or 4-string bass, but getting more strings than that the multiscale can be great
I think having 4 strings are enough, having more than four is ridiculous, in my opinion!!
The more string the bigger the cost of the strings.
@@jamesrichardson3322Completely inaccurate, plus what kind of bassist wouldn't go lower?
@@steffomca762 In my opinion 4-5 is enough, what circumstance would use a six string bass? I think having one is a complete waste of money.

i had a fanned strandberg guitar, but returned it the day i got it. the fanned frets made it almost unplayable for me. a shredder's guitar
That’s a sexy ass bass.
Would a longer string length also mean a thinner string for the low e, making it a little more comfortable and easier to play?
Potentially! Try it
That bass sounds nice, what strings are you using.
Those are Dingwall custom strings!
I just want to know, what distortion were you using?
🤣🤣🤣
HX Stomp SVT bright
What brand bass is that? I dig the body style
It's a Dingwall D-Roc.
I thought it was a Epiphone Thunderbird 60's Bass, dark blue 🔵.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What is this guitar called
What tuning were you using while playing that riff
The whole bass was tuned down a half step here. Eb Ab Db Gb
@@IanMartinAllison thank you. Appreciate it👍🏽
I imagine the amp must go to eleven as well.
Bro, great informative content, but seriously, get rid of the interruptive still frame emphasizer photos. I’m not stupid and need a stretch fucking arm strong reference or Bob Marley to understand. Bless up ❤
Finally. Thank you !!
Crooked would imply they arent parallel. The frets are parallel and slanted not crooked
I cant play fanned fret. I play fretless.
Make a fretless like that and i willl show you insanity.
It smells like Top Ramen powder out here.
