I just want to thank you. A year or so ago, a video of yours came up on your feed and I clicked it. It was so NOT my area of interest- I was fat, never ran before (voluntarily), never had any inclination toward athletics, so I'm not sure why I did. I literally moved 2000 steps a day. I ended up finding it interesting and subscribed, and a few months later tried to couch to 5k program and recently ran my first 10k! Now, I'm horribly slow and never going to be a professional athlete (I rock a 10 minute mile), but my body, fitness, and mood have improved immeasurably all thanks to you making a topic I had no interest in interesting :)
I love Allie's diary. I'm 76 and haven't been able to run for 10 years, but these vids take me right back to 45 years ago when I ran the marathon. The training was so much a part of the anticipation of the Big Event. After the first time running the Los Colonias de San Antonio I had a picture in my mind's eye of turning the corner toward the finish at the Y with about 800 meters left, the crowd cheering, and the final effort to grab five or ten places. Here I am. An old man, and I still treasure these memories. Thanks Allie, and good luck to you. Train right, and train safe.
I love that you are watching those as well - it's the sport and the gentle fun atmosphere that keeps us watching the videos - and good motivation to go out :) I am cringing though thinking of the lost fitness due to my last two sick weeks :s
Calling it now. Between now and 2028, Allie secures a marathon OTQ (via fast half marathon) then makes her marathon debut at the trials and makes the team. Where can I bet on this?
Resistance is futile; you will run a full road marathon one day; and you'll totally crush it. My sister lives in Chandler and follows you. She'll be thrilled to watch you finish the half.
YAY. Half marathon is the love of my life. The perfect distance. Excited to follow what you do and see if I can try some of it myself ❤ good luck Allie! Ur an awesome runner to follow. So honest and human.
maybe it's just being a marathoner myself but hearing Allie talk about how she wants to do marathons someday makes me so so happy!! Allie, I think you are going to do absolutely fabulous at both the half and (eventually) full distance!!! can't wait to see you kill it at Mesa
An 8 min/mi pace half is still really good - I ran my first and only half so far at an 11 min pace. I think running 13 miles is impressive at any speed!
Lol my Sprint workout today was @ 5:15 pace lmao. I'm old AF. Allie is the only person I follow on Strava. I'll look at my workout then hers and then realize how old and slow I am. F it... I still run every day.
Last time I actually like fully was training was in early October then when on vacation for a week came back pulled a hamstring got off a week before sectionals ran it dropped 30 sec on my 5k only ran like 15 miles total in the months since then
I think you have a secret weapon for your half marathon training....just do some mile intervals with ....Georgie! World's fastest dog per stride length! OMG you cracked me up trying to take Georgie on a walk. This, after putting a leash on his coat when he was in his bed, and Georgie was curled up on top of that bed, not moving an inch and you were pulling the bed! That might be number 2 on my all time list of funniest moments on Allie's videos, right behind your legendary face plant in a mound of snow in Alaska with 10 degree temperatures, where the first words out of your frozen lips were...."so refreshing"! You look really strong, particularly with a two week layoff, and as you know the Mesa Half is about 4000 feet lower, with about a 200 foot net drop in elevation. Half marathons as you know can be a bit tricky, as it seems one has the conundrum of being smart and not taking it out too fast even though they are feeling great, and running a very good race, but then wondering if they should have gone out a bit harder. I guess that is better than going out too hard and the pace slows the last 2 or 3 miles. The best result I ever had was doing a 16 mile run in the mountains the week before the half, but, everybody is different. The risk of that can be a bit of pounding and lactic acid. Also for you, you are able to assess the starting pace of any runners that would be competitive and take it from there. I know you will have a great race!
Remember you are already awesome just having a 5:20 pace goal for the half! Many millions of the rest of us dream of that through you. 😎 My sub-5 miles were 30 years, ago!
Whoo a half! Something new and exciting! Lot of good reasons to do one now like you said! Good Luck! I would be Spencer petting the dog! You know what I like about most people? Their dog
This is the video I needed on this cold winters day. You and Spencer training together is so awesome, your dishes look amazing, Im always stealing your book ideas (we need a list please) and then Georgie cuteness to top it all off! My goodness, how did I get so lucky? Your fitness is impressive. No way Im doing a double on threshold days - Im crawling into a 2-day recovery hole and telling people they dont understand how hard I just ran! 😋😊
I don't comment much but just wanted to say that I love your videos; you are getting really good at filming and editing. Of course, I'm here for Georgie too! Hah. I'm from the boomer generation and trying to follow a 5K training plan (just started it last week). I used to run regularly but chronic health stuff hit me hard the last few years. Hoping to get back decent levels of fitness and health. I am inspired to keep going by yours and Spencer's training and outlook on life. I hear ya re: running at altitude; I've been in Colo for about 40 years and I still feel it when I'm in the foothills and mountains! Cheers!
I think U will absolutely annihilate this half Allie!!! Totally no where near where you are, but, I did a lot of goal race pace in my last HM cycle & it felt horrible for the whole block-to the point where I was convinced it wasn’t going to be happening on race day😂but, I pulled it off! It’s hard, it sucked bad in a good way, & I personally spent good chunks of that race contemplated my life choices…BUT, U have SO got this Allie!!!
I knew you’d be doing a half! So excited for you. I ran my first half last December and am running another in April. Trying to get under 2:05:00. I’m sure you’ll beat my time by nearly an hour lol.
Running my first 10k this April! And hopefully half in December! I'm surrounded by marathon runners/friends at my gym so it's only a matter of time til I caved in. I learned that smooth and slow is the key! Running 3-4 miles doesn't sound intimidating to me anymore❤
I always feel extra tired when I run in the cold. So the fact you conquered the second workout is admirable! Those doggie slippers are just the cutest! 🥰
If you like the 10 mile distance, just want to throw out the Quarryman in Lemont, IL. Amazing race with lots of hills! Makes you really feel good after you finish
I'm only moving (haha auto correct) morning person when I have squeeze in a run before "work" but agree this winter time sucks lol I like sleep so much more
As someone who has become a bit of a half marathon fiend, the repeats at half marathon pace always feel terrible 😅but you are so right when you say that races are different from workouts, the pace will come during the race! Trust in your body and your training, you can do hard things!
You have a long career ahead of you but one day the Kara,Des, Carrie Toleffson announcer slot is yours. And you will rock it! For now, go have a great year on the road and track
When I was young in our club there were some fast guys, two of them olympians over 10000m. And I tell you, after all they are just people like you and me. Usually they also joined the rest of us for other activities than running.
The difference in running form between you and Spencer is very obvious, you really need more bounce (leg stiffness!) and thus, a more elastic recovery, i.e. the heel kicking higher towards the butt. Classic 'glider vs. gazelle' case.
Can you imagine if there was an Allie O - Philly Bowden showdown at the 2028 LA Olympics in the marathon? This little corner of the internet would lose its mind 😄
noticed you captured a shot of your video editing software. Which editing tools/cameras/microphone do you use ( might be interesting to see how that process works)!
Could you maybe share your shoe rotation in a video sometime? I understand it is different for everyone, but it’s helpful to learn more about what different athletes use and what works for various efforts.
"i practiced a lot of pain today but it was fun" wow adding this to my post-workout gaslighting vocabulary
I just want to thank you. A year or so ago, a video of yours came up on your feed and I clicked it. love her
May aswell just set your money on fire
8:11 Spencer petting the dog in the background🤣 love it!!
He was really just trying to get close to Allie, but shes got security. 😉
Resistance is futile; you will run a full road marathon one day; and you'll totally crush it. My sister lives in Chandler and follows you. She'll be thrilled to watch you finish the half.
She has run more than a marathon already, she did a 50k ultra 😁
@seatownfan Several on the trail, in fact. A road marathon is a whole different beast.
YAY. Half marathon is the love of my life. The perfect distance. Excited to follow what you do and see if I can try some of it myself ❤ good luck Allie! Ur an awesome runner to follow. So honest and human.
9:01 let the boys game and chill in peace
maybe it's just being a marathoner myself but hearing Allie talk about how she wants to do marathons someday makes me so so happy!! Allie, I think you are going to do absolutely fabulous at both the half and (eventually) full distance!!! can't wait to see you kill it at Mesa
Omgosh, yes!!! I ran my first half last month and it was at 8min pace. That being said, YOU'RE GOING TO KILL IT!!! I'm excited to hear about it Allie!
An 8 min/mi pace half is still really good - I ran my first and only half so far at an 11 min pace. I think running 13 miles is impressive at any speed!
I am so excited! Ever since you ran the TC 10 miler I knew you would crush a half marathon!
Go Allie and Spense. Love following your story from Waterford Ireland!!
Love to see Spencer using the fuzzy socks as gloves... 10/10
I'm so excited that you're racing Mesa. I hope to see you out there!
So glad I’m not the only one that loses track of how many repeats I’ve done when we’re doing intervals!
Lol my Sprint workout today was @ 5:15 pace lmao. I'm old AF. Allie is the only person I follow on Strava. I'll look at my workout then hers and then realize how old and slow I am. F it... I still run every day.

We live in Phoenix and Mesa Half is a great race! Good luck!
Loved Mesa, AZ in the winter, hated the summer. No tree cover.
I'm excited for you. I'm running my first half marathon on February 16th so its cool to watch you training for it. Keep doing what you're doing
oh Georgie. He is personality plus when you drop that leash!!! I have a Lab so snow/cold is her dream season.
You’re going to crush it. Mesa is one of my favorites. Excited to race the half again in February.
"Why do I just involuntarily shake when I'm excited"
Because you don't have a tail to wag.
Georgine had me LITERALLY laughing out loud on this one!
You should do Mt marathon this year!
Great video, Allie! I also use a Coros watch and am super happy with it.
I ran my first half in Dallas awhile ago…half marathons are the perfect race distance. You will do great and have a blast.
Remember you are already awesome just having a 5:20 pace goal for the half! Many millions of the rest of us dream of that through you. 😎 My sub-5 miles were 30 years, ago!

Love that you're racing a half! I see a lot of enjoyment you get from road racing - it's fun! Love the new sponsor as well :)) Go Allie
Heck yes! My husband and I are running Mesa Half in Feb too. It’s such a good one!
Spencer is so good at ensuring you stay one step ahead!
I don't comment much but just wanted to say that I love your videos; you are getting really good at filming and editing. Of course, I'm here for Georgie too! Hah. Thanks so much! I appreciate your kind words and I wish you the best in your training!
The Georgie struggle bus towards the end, was very relatable! Lol :D
We’ve all been there! 😂
Way to go, Spencer! You are a great training partner, as well as a nice guy.
I think U will absolutely annihilate this half Allie!!! Good luck girl. You’re always an inspiration
I knew you’d be doing a half! So excited for you. I ran my first half last December and am running another in April. Trying to get under 2:05:00. I’m sure you’ll beat my time by nearly an hour lol.
Good luck on your half!!!!! And regardless 2:05 is amazing 🤩
@ Thank you! I learned a lot from my first half, specifically needing to fuel more during the race, so hopefully that means I go a lot faster!
I love your videos good luck ! ❤🔥
Excited to see this training block! Thanks for sharing! You should add the Red Riding Series by Pierce Brown to your TBR list .
I’ve already read it!! Absolutely love 👏
Allie your pace was epic!💪💪💪
Love your vlog as always! I know that you’re going to smash the half, just like at the world mountain running champs in Wales hehe! 🥇😉🍦🩷✨
running around Celestial Seasoning property, love it!
I love the slippers!!
Awesome day of training, fueling, and shenanigans, always gotta remember to walk your Spencer 😆👏
If you like the 10 mile distance, just want to throw out the Quarryman in Lemont, IL. Amazing race with lots of hills! Makes you really feel good after you finish
I started running because of you and I love it ❤ running a 10 k in June!
ah love to hear it! You will crush the 10k!
I'm running the full!! Hope to see you and Spence !
so exciting!!
Not Georgie sliding in his bed 🤣🤣 Hes just a chill pup who doesnt like the cold🥲
Awesome! A friend of mine ran Mesa Half last year and set a PR! You will crush it!
Great workout! Nailed those fast reps. I finally chose my transport of choice - GEORGIE-COPTER! =D
I'm only moving (haha auto correct) morning person when I have squeeze in a run before "work" but agree this winter time sucks lol I like sleep so much more
Well done too you both my be 34 years . From England living Thailand now
As someone who has become a bit of a half marathon fiend, the repeats at half marathon pace always feel terrible 😅but you are so right when you say that races are different from workouts, the pace will come during the race! Trust in your body and your training, you can do hard things!
Looool Georgie. My greyhound also needs to wear coats in winter and he acts like he’s dying every time I put one on him 😂
Hi I love your videos so much!and I was wondering if you have any advice on how to start running?😊
How difficult can it be!? You already did it from a young age, never asking a question like that.
Very carefully. Pick soft surfaces to run on.
Good luck for you race
Love me some Georgie. He’s hilarious. Good luck in the half. Wonder if you and your coach have a strategy yet? Negative split, for example?
The Kevin langue outro song caught me off guard 😂 love your content!!!!!
That is fun that you are training for the same race so you can do runs together.
Whats the music at 1025?? Also gl at the half, love you guys ❤️
Half-marathon sounds like a great distance for you. Keep building!
Can you share who is doing the filming? I don't need to know, I just want to know 😅
@allie - what's the STL Rams sweater story?
Love the Pittie that came close to taking over the video, but Georgie managed to be top dog.
Good luck in your next race.. you might want to edit comments prior to 8:31. Stay healthy Allie
You are still in great shape, do doubt-maybe you’re not in your usual competition shape, but you are in great shape!
vaporflys are goated
I'm with Spencer regarding dog coats... my wife always puts a coat on our dog but the dog hates it!
Hi Allie! Fellow runner. I'm curious. Why do you do an elliptical workout on the same day that you ran? Thanks!
Georgie is like, “Leave me alone, I’m still recovering from that 4:48 mile I ran”
I’m running a half marathon on march 2nd! Good luck!
You have a long career ahead of you but one day the Kara,Des, Carrie Toleffson announcer slot is yours. And you will rock it! For now, go have a great year on the road and track
Will you be increasing your mileage or just overall training volume? I.e. cross training as you move to the longer distance of the half marathon
Good luck Allie! Q - I've always been told you can take 10-14 days off with no loss of fitness; what do you think is the true amount?
We're reading the same book right now!
in my 40s and just recently learned what the 13.1 bumper stickers were (had seen them around for decades smh)
😂😂😂
Must be wild living in boulder. You go for a jog in a random neighborhood and professional runners cruise past you at 5:00 pace.
When I was young in our club there were some fast guys, two of them olympians over 10000m.
And I tell you, after all they are just people like you and me. Usually they also joined the rest of us for other activities than running.
I KNEW THIS WOULD BE YOUR DISTANCE
how's the battery life on your watch? always have been a garmin guy but just checked out your link and the designs are pretty nice
The difference in running form between you and Spencer is very obvious, you really need more bounce (leg stiffness!) and thus, a more elastic recovery, i.e. the heel kicking higher towards the butt. Classic 'glider vs. gazelle' case.
About time young lady ... you where always a long distance runner not middle distance - long. Im calling 1 hour 8 mins. Go Girl !
You two are fun lol... and George rocks lol..
How would you describe Lauren Roberts books? Why do you like her?
Can you imagine if there was an Allie O - Philly Bowden showdown at the 2028 LA Olympics in the marathon? This little corner of the internet would lose its mind 😄
First of many Allie make sure you run an even pace as much as possible
Georgie rights! Burn the coat for warmth next to the couch! Bring him snackies! Worship the wolf!
liked before the ad was even over :)
So your goal time is about 1:10 for the half?
noticed you captured a shot of your video editing software. Which editing tools/cameras/microphone do you use ( might be interesting to see how that process works)!
George spins still get me every time 🤣
Ohhh just found the answer to where you are flying haha
Is Spencer from St Louis I should know this info lol
Celestial seasonings should sponsor runners. Their campus loop shows up in so many workout videos.
Could you maybe share your shoe rotation in a video sometime? I understand it is different for everyone, but it’s helpful to learn more about what different athletes use and what works for various efforts.
Nice Video!
my first half was when I was 14 and I did it in 1:47. that being said I am nowhere near as fast as her 😂
