@@VladimirVladimirovich1952 you mean god not good but I get your point.andy had the tools of a rock star and I heard he was asked to replace Steve Clark in def Leppard when he passed from cancer but Andy was on drugs bad.now Andy has prostate cancer
Poor Andy Taylor. Apparently he wanted so bad to be a hard rocker. I always dug this song...too bad it didn't happen for him. Stuck as a Durannie. I dig DD well enough too but rock was definitely Andy's calling.
Mike Tabor - Yes it was. One of the best guitarists in the 80's, but never got much credit, because he was in a pop band. Thank him, for being responsible, (in part), helping to bring rock guitar, back to pop music.
Thank you for this,This song for some reason managed to stay stuck in my head since I first seen the video in 1985.Just think MTV actually played music videos 🤔😳
I know and those were the good ol days for me during my teen years . I stayed up late every weekend when MTV first came on with our cable and I waited for my favorite videos. I love 'China Girl' by David Bowie 'Little Red Corvette' by Prince and many , many others.
I had forgot about this song I hear it now and it's awesome the critics did not like Andy Taylor's solo album and I don't understand why he was a good guitar player he had a rocker deep down inside him
Paula Ward - Thunder has actually held up nicely, as an album from the 80's. Otherwise, it had 1 important shortcomi g, one which I discussed with him, while trying to get him to add sone gtr tracks to a song of mine. Andy's lead gtr work on that album is fluid and flawless. Unfortunately, the solos are too tightly composed. As someone who was catching him live at that time, I felt he didn't take enough chances in the studio, the way he was while perforning live. Some of those solos were near unbelievable. Fire and ice. Dangerous licks and risktaking; with a hint of improv. I will always love Thunder, but I always hear live versions in my head. One of the best rock guitarists of the 80's, but w/o much credit given to him, because he was in a pop band.
Because he was stereotyped as a New Romantic pop star. Back then it was thought by critics that no pop star, rockstar, rapper etc should do something outside their genre. But, at the same time, I don't remember Power Station getting trashed like Andy's solo albums.
Love both versions of this song. Wow New Years 87. I met my wife in Sept 87 and this was just months later. LOVE IT!! I was 18 then and 46 now. All those people there are probably a little older than me. Thats just not right ...we should not have to age.Music doesn't :)
I used to played this song at clubs in ‘86 and it packed the dance every time! I never hear it anymore unless I find it on you tube. We did the shorter single version!
Bonsoir j'aime bien entendre chanter Andy Taylor i like Andy Taylor forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💕💕💕💕💕💕💕And Duran Duran i like forever 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹💚💚💚💚💚😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
It sounds a little like 'Cat Scratch Fever' crossed with Robert Palmers " Addicted To Love " . Seriously...listen in the beginning after the drums begin .
I know I am late to this post, but YES he was most definitely meant to be a Rockstar. In fact, I could have seen him in 80’s Metal Bands over New Wave.
In 87 heavy metal hair bands rule the music scene ( Poison, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Ratt, ect.), new wave was long fade away so Andy decided to go hard Rocker and try it, but sadly in that time people associate him with Duran Duran ( still does) and rocker fans did not accept him as a hair band Rocker
@@roberttaylor1275 I see Patrick but that does not look like terry, the playing style is different, sounds horrible although it is a remo set. Incredibly this song wasn’t even on Taylor‘s first record, which allowed Warren Cucurullo to join Duran Duran as Taylor told Terry he wasn’t going back. Terry then gave Warren the inside information.
@@roberttaylor1275 that’s John Valen on drums, not Terry Bozzio. John played on the thunder tour with Taylor. And the guy playing drums looks like John not Terry in this live video.
Andy has a pretty decent voice. Too bad he doesn't do harmonies on the early DD albums (Simon only harmonizes with himself) and his mic is turned way down low in the live shows.
Such an under-rated guitar hero. He will always be one of my biggest influences! Rock On Andy Taylor!
He’s not really a guitar hero but okay
@@VladimirVladimirovich1952 Andy is a fucking guitar god and is sexy as hell

BANG A GONG - Still a great song thou
Guess people forgot about Power Station. John & Andy's rock side project with Tony Thompson( R.I.P) & Robert Palmer( R.I.P) & Michael DesBarres
American Anthem!!!
Awe yeah....the one and only Terry bozzio on the damn DRUMS!!!!
Back when MTV was fun
I so wish this song were available on itunes.
Grande Andy Taylor!!
El más sexy de los Duran Duran y muy buen guitarrista
When mtv cared about the fans and fantastic great music videos not the crap they play today 2021
I love you 🅰 November 10, 2017
this song is not on his only album " thunder " . only on the movie soundtrack " american anthem "
you have to already know this song to "get" why he's trying to hard rock it this performance ;-)

Loved this album. Need to find it again. I actually drew a pencil sketch/poster of the album cover when this was out.
Andy taylor is a good singer and he and rovk on tgat guitor go andy
Why is this song not on iTunes!!!!!
He reminds me of Bonjovi
Andy Taylor looks like he is channeling Marc Bolan from T-Rex.
30 years
He was meant to be a rockstar not a pop star

🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️
He couldnt really showcase his skills in Duran Duran..
He definitely has the Guitar Face for rock
Lendaaaa
Trying to shed his DURAN ×2 vibe.
su estilo mas rock menos pop britanico.
Anyone know what kind of guitar Andy is playing here?
He’s playing a Schecter. He also had another that was a Tele style. I think Andy was using
Mesa Boogies back then.
入りがDuran Duranだよね。
Thought he was about to play cigarettes and alcohol 🤣
Outside Duran Duran it's like a hero to zero!
Melody in Duran Duran....only noise alone!
I thought he played bass?
Nah that was John Taylor
Poison and BonJovi are not heavy metal
This sucks where is Terry Bozzio on drums like in the video ?
I just realized it was him.
That is Terry bozzio..and also Patrick ohearn on bass WHICH lead to missing persons
