I am a single mom in a financial bind and my son still wets the bed so I CANNOT go without a washer. This video allowed me to fix my washer all my myself. Thank you SO much!! May your pillow always stay cold ❤
Thank you thank you thank you! Because of your video, you saved us a ton of money! My husband just changed the same piece, followed your instructions, and my washing machine is perfect!!!!
...and THREE YEARS LATER YOUR VIDEO IS STILL HELPING PEOPLE!!!! Thank you so much for being so generous with your knowledge and time! This video solved my issue along with another video that solved my sensor issue. This video was so helpful and saved me a ton of money! Thanks again and may God richly bless you!
Thanks! Haven’t done it yet, but gives me guidance and courage to try instead of buying another washer. I appreciate the no frills explanation. We did do the cleaning first and this is next. Thanks again.
I wanted to thank you for sharing your experience. Even the sound effects you provided were spot on. I just finished swapping out the coupling assembly and it eliminated the 1920s Al Capone era of the Tommy gun sound. I had a tech come out and give me an estimate of $480 to repair it. Part cost $40 from Amazon. Took 15 minutes to replace. As you said, the next item to replace is the water valves. Please post most videos as it helps those that help themselves.
Oh yes. My water valves went out VERY soon after purchase. LG customer service is so horrible that I just use manual valves I must remember to turn off but it works
Thank you so much for this video. I had exactly the same problem with my washer. I bought the parts from the number you listed, followed your instrctions, and all is well in the world today.
Thanks a bunch! I have plenty of appliance repair experience from another life lived long ago. I had to weed through a bunch of videos until I found yours, which made my life easier. I had a hell of a time removing the rotor, some Kroil and gentle taps on the shaft and patience finally persevered. I had already done the fill valve a couple years ago, I guess I will be doing the pump next LOL!
Nice video! I think I have this problem, but just couldn't remove the nut, it is so stubborn! You make it look so easy, will try again, maybe with a socket wrench some one else mentioned.
Such a helpful video, thank you! Do you know the screw size, length of the 3 that you attached the coupling assembly. Mine are non existent when I pulled it apart. Thanks!
Thank you for uploading this.. In my case, my almost 3 year old LG washer is not spiining and makes the clicking/machine gun sound. This video was very helpful with taking it all apart. However, there is no wear on the plastic or metal teeth at all. I greased everything, and manually the coupler pushes up and down fine. Would the motor be the next possible problem?
You got a new subscriber here! When I saw you having to use pliers to take off that main nut at the beginning. Mine was loose already. Which I didn't pay no mind at first until watching the rest of your video when you said sometimes it's that nut. (RUclips handyman here) I've actually got a new washer coming today😅. Guess we'll have 2
It would be helpful if you could have recorded the sound it was making before you took it apart. I have a washing machine that makes an intermittent sound during spin cycle and I don't know if it's this issue because it is a direct drive but I have no idea what it is
Diagnosed this because gear coupling completely shredded- however got everything removed and was getting ready to order coupler and the shaft assembly but noticed the bolt or rod that it turns on sort of had bent skinny washer type looking which I pulled out - is this the main underlying problem which causing the coupler to not engage and get shredded etc ? Should I replace whole bearing assembly?
Could you comment on possible water left in machine. Should we be aware of water before we flip machine and are there any suggestions on making sure all water is gone.
I've had several of these with a pesky UL code for running out of balance (even with nothing in it) and will not completely spin out clothes. Any idea what is causing this besides the board?
Just took the bottom apart and my coupler seems to be okay, nothing looks worn out or cracked and it moves up and down easy. My problem started yesterday after a heavy load caused the motor to lock up with the LE error code. I got the code to clear after a reset but now the washer will not complete a spin cycle. It will keep trying to refill water as though it’s out of balance and can’t spin. However it fills up the entire tub. I’m not sure what’s going on
All 3 of my screw holes on the machine itself are stripped. The other holes you used in the video do not appear to be threaded. Any advice? Note the screws came completely out of my assembly and cut the copper wire of the stator, making the unit completely nonfunctional.
This is the problem with my washer but I cannot get the nut off, it’s recessed unlike the one you show. I can’t get a nut splitter in because it’s recessed and I’ve stripped the nut. Any recommendations?
I have a newish LG washer and I've noticed that within a year of buying it, that the top rim of the plastic basket which hold the clothing had scared against something in the washer and summer of the plastic room had been shaved off. What causes that? I called the company because I had a warranty on the washer and they told me that I must have put too much clothing in the washer. I told him no, that wasn't the case. Do you have any idea why the top rim of the clothes basket would be shaved or rubbed off? The machine still works, but it's a puzzle.
For anyone who has a hard time removing the nut, I put a full load of wet blankets in the washer so I could get some weight in there and generate a little more momentum doing the push and pull trick. Also a short prayer after 45 minutes of fighting this thing may have helped 😂
Thank you for this. I was having that same issue but everything was good underneath. My issue was the spring with the teeth on mine as loose and held with 1 screw. Got it back on and tight and put the motor back on but now it's throwing an error LE code. Does it have to sit upright to re-balance itself before you start it up. I do know there's no more noise while spinning the tub by hand. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Replaced the coupling assembly which was worn as described in the video and now washer giving us an 'LE' code (motor error), followed steps for replacing coupling again double checking for proper installation and still receiving same 'LE' error code.
It would be great if you would list the part name or even the part number been looking for that part online thanks for giving us the part number all the extra BS in there and couldn't even get the part number or the correct part name why?
I have the same washing machine and mine is not agitating. The Model number that is on the sticker on the side is not pulling up this washing machine on a web search. Do you happen to know the model number to this machine? Thanks.
What could cause the stator and rotor to rub against each other? My machine is doing this. And its mostly rubbing to one side, causing an uneven wear on the magnets on the rotor.
My machine made that “machine gun” noise. Then it gave me an LE error code. So i ordered a rotor position sensor and changed it out. Now im getting a E6 error code. Could this be the issue?
Hello, I would need some help with a pinging sound when my washer rotates left to right during the wash cycle... Would anyone have an idea as I can send a video and seems like it's coming from underneath?

That sound effect is exactly how mine sounds! Thank you.

Thanks for posting. You probably just saved me from buying a new washer over a $20 part.
Thank you so much for this video. I had exactly the same problem with my washer. I bought the parts from the number you listed, followed your instrctions, and all is well in the world today.
Great Vid what's the part number on LG washer coupling
Great video thank you for sharing , LG and Samsung appliances are becoming job security for us

Just wondering if you can help as I experiencing an annoying sound not sure if it's from motor or belts. Let me know and I describe more.
Nice video! I think I have this problem, but just couldn't remove the nut, it is so stubborn! You make it look so easy, will try again, maybe with a socket wrench some one else mentioned.
Thanks for making this video, the noise as you described is exactly the problem on my LG top load machine. Thanks again
2:43 That's exactly the sound that's coming out of my washing machine.
Such a helpful video, thank you! Do you know the screw size, length of the 3 that you attached the coupling assembly. Mine are non existent when I pulled it apart. Thanks!
Thanks! Great advice! My coupling was actually cracked, but I replaced it in 30 minutes.
Thank you for uploading this..

Yes, thank you. Mine is still under warranty, so I will be calling today.

Are there any bearings that require oiling or replacement.
My machine recently got flooded.
Appreciate your response Sir.

Can you do a detailed video showing off all your tools, the tool bag, and what's in your van? Thanks
My washer keeps giving me LE error after I replace the shifter and motor will make a rattler noise, will it be the actuator motor?
The shaft all this goes over.. mine has a little play in it. Should that be? Or should it be tight?
All 3 of my screw holes on the machine itself are stripped. The other holes you used in the video do not appear to be threaded. Any advice? Note the screws came completely out of my assembly and cut the copper wire of the stator, making the unit completely nonfunctional.

I'm having noises and getting the LE code on my LG washer. Do you think that this could be the cause?
My LG washer stopped washing, the tub not turning over the clothes but will spin out the water as usual with the tub spinning. Please for your advice

It actually was fixed right? 🤔. Never actually saw it working…. Regardless, thanks for the vid! Going to see if that’s my problem now!
For anyone who has a hard time removing the nut, I put a full load of wet blankets in the washer so I could get some weight in there and generate a little more momentum doing the push and pull trick. Also a short prayer after 45 minutes of fighting this thing may have helped 😂
Thank you for the video very helpful and informative!
How about a video for replacing WT1701CV hall sensor?
I think that is what's wrong with it anyways. 😩
very very nice it sure did save me a lot of money. thank you
Whats the part number? When I looked up my model WT7155CW only complete gearcase and clutch assemble is available for $250.00.
Thank you for this. I was having that same issue but everything was good underneath. My issue was the spring with the teeth on mine as loose and held with 1 screw. Dont spin the tub by hand very much. It can cause an error code and the washer light inside stays on. Happened to me.
Hello , I've change the coupling of my washing machine but after changing it , it has a difficulty on spinning like its jammed or something.
Thank you for the info!!!
I did it but it still makes the noise. What else should I do
Thank You !!! Now I Know what to Do to fix it!
Replaced the coupling assembly which was worn as described in the video and now washer giving us an 'LE' code (motor error), followed steps for replacing coupling again double checking for proper installation and still receiving same 'LE' error code.
Mine has a stuck motor sound it sound like it wants to turn but it humms like a motor is stuck. If this part is bad would it do that?
It would be great if you would list the part name or even the part number been looking for that part online thanks for giving us the part number all the extra BS in there and couldn't even get the part number or the correct part name why?
I have the same washing machine and mine is not agitating. The Model number that is on the sticker on the side is not pulling up this washing machine on a web search. Do you happen to know the model number to this machine? Thanks.
do you have an updated link for the coupling??
When do I get parts from?
Can a motor that has had a leak be fixed / cleaned?
I have an LG washer WT7700HVA /01 my part is metal no plastic?? Can you help me out? Thanks
I can not get that motor off. I'm guessing it's time for a new washer
Any chance does this help with an E6 code?
What code does the machine give you? For this to be replaced.
What could cause the stator and rotor to rub against each other? My machine is doing this. And its mostly rubbing to one side, causing an uneven wear on the magnets on the rotor.
Bad bearings. Might be time for a new Washer
Was there a part number I missed?
My machine made that “machine gun” noise. Then it gave me an LE error code. So i ordered a rotor position sensor and changed it out. Now im getting a E6 error code. Could this be the issue?

Using power tools on screws that go into plastic is sure way to strip them.
