Gorgeous falls, Bryan! Still very impressed by the quality of that GoPro hero 8. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Chris, it's a great water falls. The Hero 8 Black a great camera for what I like to do. The videos with slow motion were shot in 1080p, 120 FPS. All the other videos are 2.7K or 4K and the video was exported as a 4K file. Also I do play with the lighting and contrast and color grade each clip.
Fantastic! Great place to go camping! Beautiful landscapes! More of God’s wonderful creation.
Thanks Jeremiah! Cohutta is a great place to backpack.
Enjoyed the Falls. Like you, so tired of all the rain! You were fortunate to get back to back nice days.
Thanks Chris! Spring is almost here!!!
I used to take my 8th graders up into the Cohutta Wilderness. So many fond memories and I can't believe how much blow down there is by watching the videos on here! OMG! There are so many wonderful trails, or there used to be, in the Cohutta. Maybe some people will go in and do some trail maintenance cuz it sure does need it. I live far away now and miss those fun weekends with my own kids and my students. Thanks for sharing this video.
Glad you enjoyed the video Tom. Cohutta is a great wilderness area. All the wonderful trails are still there, but like most areas in the southern Appalachians trail maintenance crews are having a very difficult time keeping up with all the dying hemlocks.
Great hike to the falls , been there a number of times , you stir me up wanting to pack in and stay a few days , it is a gorgeous place
Thanks @jaydunbar2034! It is a gorgeous place and hope you can put together a backpack there sometime.
Great looking area - man I can't wait for our snow to start coming off.... Good stuff 👍🏼
Thanks Powidaho! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Enjoyed the different angles you filmed from .
Awesome music that's very relaxing and mellow.
Thank you .
Thank you EZE95! Glad you enjoyed the video.
I hiked all 3 routes, loved all of them. The longer routes where better because of the river crossings in my opinion, but those are the longer trails, and with all the trees down, it didn’t make it easy with 60L keltys lol. Definitely worth the sight after a long hike. Don’t go in during or after a good storm, might not be able to cross some areas (except beach bottom)
Jacks River Falls is very beautiful. Having hiked all the trails in Cohutta Wilderness and some of the trails multiple times, I'm familiar with the 40 plus crossings on the Jacks River Trail and the 40 plus crossings on the Conasauga River Trail. And yes after a big storm you may find yourself trapped between two crossings.
Awesome video! Great footage and editing. Really like your tarp setup. Loops like a nice loop and area to hike.✌️
Thanks As The Crow Flies Hiking! Cohutta is a great place to backpack.
besides that amazing falls, I love the rhododendron in the Northern Georgia Forests. beautiful video!
Thank you very Kara! Really glad you enjoyed the video.
Beautiful area!!! Love the river and falls.
Thanks Paul!
Great overnighter Bryan. Streams & falls looked beautiful.
Thanks Tom!
Excellent video! Looks like you found a really nice campsite while bushwhacking 👍
Thanks Mark! Yea, I was not expecting to find an existing campsite.
Loved the video. Great production work!! I’m heading to that trail in 3 weeks. Super pumped.
Thank you Shawn. Cohutta is a great place. Hope you have fun.
Love that area. Great trip Bryan! New intro is awesome and your production is really getting good. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks stricky's! Cohutta is a nice wilderness.
Daughter and I were over the mountain from you on Saturday, down at Rough Creek. Several blow downs. I have a view Big Frog and Hemptop from the house. Digging the new styles of editing you are adding to your videos.
Thanks ludermilch! Sounds like your drive to Cohutta an Big Frog is a little shorter than mine.
Really enjoyed this video and all of them. Appreciate the help and info. Looks like you took the same window of opportunity as we did to get out. This winter has been a mess as far as decent weather goes. Maybe get to go again sometime next week.
Thanks Johnny! February was a wet one, but it looks like we may be getting back to normal weather. Hope you get out next week.
Nice! Fantastic waterfall. You picked a good couple days in between the rains. It’s finally raining here. I’ll have to find some days to get out as well.
Thanks waterfallmadman! Glad you are getting some much needed rain.
Thank you so much for this video.
You are so welcome!
The Cohutta Wilderness is awesome. My father has been going here since the 70's and recently shared this with me. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Just subbed.
Thanks Metro On The Move! Cohutta is a great place.
Bryan DeLay can’t wait to get back there soon! Cheers
Nice early Spring outing.
Thanks John!
As others have commented, excellent video work. It's like you've got a couple of assistants along helping to get the perfect shots. At one time, hiking in the Cohutta and going to Jacks Falls was one of my favorite places to go, that is, until my last trip about twenty years ago when I arrived at the falls to find about fifty other people there, including families with small children. I made a decision then that I would not go back because the place obviously had been "discovered". Prior to that, I would see very few other people on the trail or at the falls. Nothing against other people (or families) who want to enjoy nature, but I feel that part of hiking is to disconnect from the crowds, not hike into a wilderness area to get to a crowd. I don't know what day of the week you were at the falls, but I'm surprised there didn't appear to be anyone else there. The largest bear I've ever seen was in the Cohutta Wilderness. Also, one of the best knives I have is a handmade one that I found while swimming in the area at the top of the falls.
Thanks Brebug! Actually I was solo on this trip; no one helping with the videos other than a small tripod. Yea, Jacks River Falls can get very crowded and I was surprised to have the falls to myself, especially considering it was a Saturday, but it was early March.
Nice job..... Big thumbs up!
Thanks BlackOak Property Maintenance!
Hi Brian, I don't have anything wise today to say, so I'm just saying hi. That was a gorgeous waterfall.
Hey Chad, glad you enjoyed the video.
Fantastic, thank you for sharing your adventures Bryan, you are giving me many recommendations! Perhaps we'll see each other on the trail...ATB.
Thanks Ivzxy! If we ever cross paths please say hello.
Looks like a really nice get away for an overnighter. Wish I lived locally to the area. By the way, I have a two nighter coming up next weekend and this will be my third trip showing off your bear bagging method. My crew has been pretty impressed with that style.
Thanks Chris! Glad the bear bag method is working for you.
Beautiful camera work
Thanks Bill! Glad you enjoyed the video.
I was there back in early March 2018, and unfortunately for me, the rain was ever present. And boy was it chilly.
Cohutta is great wilderness with some exceptional campsites.
Dang this looks awesome, in highschool and trying to start going on solo trips and this is def on my list-gonna be interesting to convince my parents with so much talk of bears(they aren’t crazy outdoor people) sadly
Thanks Conor! My son has been backpacking with me since he was 5. He did his first solo trip in the Smoky's when he as 18, which was his choice, although he had the experience to go solo, and I would have agreed, when he was 16.
Beautiful water, creek and waterfalls! I can see why those falls are your favorite!! So much water at the moment!! Really nice weather for a backpack trip! Is it almost spring? 🥾🥾
Hey Jennifer, spring is already starting to happen here in the lower elevations. Some wildflowers are starting to pop up.
@@BryanDeLay so cool! My favorite time of year- finding wildflowers makes me happy 😊😊
Very nice I'm in jerseys appalachians would love to go to chatahooche one day.
Thanks Dean! Chattahoochee National Forest is in north Georgia. You may have meant Cataloochee, which is on the east edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
@@BryanDeLay thanks good to know can't wait to check them out
Enjoy your videos Bryan. Living in SE TN, many are close to home. Just getting into backpacking and I have a couple of questions about footwear and foot care. I see you crossing streams in fairly cold weather. Are you hiking long in wet shoes? If so, what types of shoes do you recommend? Socks? Liner socks? How do you take care of your shoes and feet at camp? Are your shoes wet when you put them on the next morning? I’ve been on a few hikes but I’ve usually waded in sandals or had a spare pair. I want to lighten up and do more 2-3 night trips. Any advice or video suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you Jacob! Lately I've been wearing Topo trail running shoes and yes I walk long in wet shoes and socks, but the shoes mostly dry quickly and Darn Tough wool socks insulate when wet. When I get to camp I change to water proof socks to keep my feet dry from the still damp shoes.
Nice video, What brand of backpack are you using?
Thank you kel KellyS! I'm using a Zpacks Arc Haul.
Bryan, just subscribed even though I’ve watched your videos for what seems like years now. Got a videography question, with what frame rate settings do you film?
Enjoy your videos, -JBENHIKES🏴☠️
Thanks for subscribing and watching my videos JBENHIKES! Without getting into the weeds too much, if I'm walking and talking I use 4K at 24 or 30 FPS. If I'm panning or shooting a scene as I walk I use 2.7K at 60 FPS in case I want to slow down the play speed to 50% or greater. If I intend to use slow motion I use 1080P at 120 FPS and slow down the play speed to 20% or 25%. Hope this helps!

Exactly the info I was looking for... thanks for taking the time to detail your method.
Thanks again, JBH
Hello, wonderful video. Do you need a permit to stay overnight?
Thanks Allen! No permit is required.
You ever find you a new pair of hiking shoes?
Yes, I just bought a pair of Topo Athletic Ultraventure Trail-Running Shoes. Haven't worn them yet, but I think I'll like them.
Anyone know what the music is at 4:07 ?
The song is Bet On It by Silent Partner and it's from RUclips audio library.
Coulda swear I heard banjos
That's interesting, I thought I heard squealing. Thanks for watching tnprime.
thats why i carry my Glock 19X with me when i backpack this area......lol
