Brilliant scene because it sets up Leslie's climactic sword fight against Ross Martin and that's the best sword fight ever filmed it's spectacularly great.
I can't help but think of the whole royal coup part of the film as one giant distraction from the plot. The 20 minutes that were wasted on the idea of overthrowing the monarch could have been used on allowing our characters to interact with the locals on their journey through Russia and other areas of Eastern Europe.
@@NostalgicGamerRickOShay the Potsdorf segment is the best part of the movie it's brilliantly done from start to finish it's smart and funny you obviously don't understand what Blake Edwards was spoofing here.
@@moviesgalore9947 Plus, it's important for giving us some time with Maggie and Hezekiah, who needs to be brought around to Maggie in order to even tolerate her after the Gromite (sp) incident.
nope. All this is classical so it's a bit different form fencing now but the way both of them use footwork is a dead giveaway that they were given specific lessons to make this scene happen and no more

One of those sence that you can not put into a movie anymore without getting cancelled and some damn fool starting a riot.
Nowadays it is practically illegal to not have the girl win every single time.
BOOM! G-Rated Mic Drop!
Was Natalie Wood legit trained to fence for this role or no?
I was thinking that the Maggie DuBois who had her back to the camera looked to be closer in height to Tony Curtis than the 5 foot zero Natalie Wood.
