Are you wondering what animals you can expect to see in the area around Satara rest camp in the Kruger National Park? In this video I tell you all about the game viewing around Satara and how all the open areas around it attract large numbers of prey species like zebra, wildebeest and buffalo, which in turn attract a lot of lions! Cheetahs also love the open plains around Satara and this is one of the best camps to stay at in the Kruger National Park if you want to see them.

Thanks for this great video!
I'm from Germany and I've spent more than 40 nights in Satara (out of a total of 120 in the park) during my visits in the park within the past 15 years.
My favorite drive, however, is the 50km stretch of the H1-3 tar road southbound to Tshokwane. I've seen almost anything here: lion kill of giraffe and buffalo, wild dogs, cheetah cubs, leopard cubs and leopard kills. Besides the H7 (Satara to Orpen) and the H4-2 (Crocodile to Lower Sabie) this is my favorite game drive in the park - and for this reason I've booked accomodation at Satara again for another 11 nights in March 2023!
Maybe see you there!
Where did you find accommodations close to satara? Thank you
Fantastic video. My favourite Camp is Berg en Dal. I've been to Satara but via Orpen gate, had a wonderful time.
I like this commentary. Brings back great memories!
Love it. The new S147 up north is also one of my favourite roads with high chances of seeing cats.
Great video, I have spent quite some time in the Kruger and each time we go we make a point of driving the Timbavati road as we have seen wild dogs here a number of times and we have assumed that the Timbavati road falls within their core home range. This might just be our luck or a coincidence, but the Timbavati road has never disappointed us. Thank you for the great video!
Awesome review Villiers perfectly summarized and fantastic footage too !! a real Kruger hotspot
Thanks, Stu 🙏🏻😎
The best information ever and very helpful after watching your videos i make a point in going those routes and I have never been disappointed thanks for the info again
My pleasure 😁👍🏻
Kyk elke kort-kort na jou videos as ek na die park verlang! Dankie vir hierdie reeks. Sien uit na die res!
awesome video mate my friends and i stayed in Satara and saw the big 5 but no cheetah or wild african dogs. There wasa pride of about 30 lions and lionesses and i believe we saw all 30 in the 5 days we were there :) was an amazing experience and want to come back and stayed in tents by the fence in July 1998
Excellent videos
Very good video - i love the S100 in the evening . Had more luck there than in the morning
Thanks so much for these wonderful suggestions. Jackals are on my bucket list and I've been told they like Satara territory. Any ideas re which routes I should try? Have found them very elusive in 20 years of going to the park.
Thanks
Thank you for sharing
Nice video
Love all of that roads ! Please give some road tips of Berg-En-Dal some tips of where to see the best wild and best roads to see wild dogs.
Give some road tips of Berg-En-Dal and Skukuza camp please
Awesome plz suggest best time in year to visit kruger
There’s no bad time, really, but avoid the SA school holidays and, if you don’t like the heat and/or bugs, perhaps avoid October to March.
your videos are indeed amazing. unfortunately, i will have only time to go in November. Doest it mean that animals no longer go to the waterholes AT ALL? or is november still kind of okay in this regard?
Nice video, have you ever heard about othwa boys, sons off mapogos colitions Sabi sands
is the law and order situation in that area good?
I live in South Africa on a farm near Kruger, so I almost go every weekend.
I tried to order using the links you provided. It said page not found. Help!
Great review Safari expert, can you please do a review of Berg-en-Dal?
Thanks, Langutani 🙏🏻 I’m just waiting for Berg-en-Dal to finish with refurbichment on the restaurant before I complete yhe camp review...
Ace video - so informative . Now all we need is Covid restrictions to be lifted!
What is the best season to visit Kruger park. Which are the restrictions due to COVID? Thank you.
Albano, there’s no bad season when it comes to game viewing - you can see lots of animals all year round. But remember that it’s very hot and possibly rainy from November to March (summer) very cold in June and July and dull and dry from June to October (winter). You’ll have to visit the SANParks website to get details on Covid-19 restrictions.
Thank you .
@@albanocortez4829 It is also important to remember that if you visit during the winter, there is a much lower risk of malaria.
The book you recommend is 7 years old, is it still accurate ?
Roger, a brand new version of Kruger Self-Drive will be released this year as far as I know, but the first edition is still 99% acurate and very useful indeed.
Ja jissie I've struggled with that S39. Beautiful road, but yoh, you must work hard.
I am loving all the reviews of the camps... And getting to know places better..... But, please also specify if the camp or a resort admits people from all nationality....i am saying so because I approached one camp after watching your video and had sore experience.
Matrishva, which camp did you have a issue with? As far as I know, all the camps I have mentioned in my videos cater for people from all nationalities under normal circumstances. It’s obviously only now in the pandemic that they may not.
@@TheSafariExpert i was asking for 2021 safari. They directly did not say that but the intent of their reply was clear. It hurts to see such responses.
Matrishva, please send me a private message on Facebook and I’ll try to get to the bottom of it 🙏🏻👍🏻
