Great loco, great capture. I used to use the Trans Pennine service a lot in the late 70's - 80's and was made up when the traction was a Peak. Used to open the window so I could hear the growl of the big Sulzer.
Many thanks for watching the video and for your comments. I too travelled behind the Peaks, mainly in the 60s and 70s, to the North West and Midlands from Newcastle. Always great to hear those engines even when they were stationary. Glad to see this one now up and running on the main line once more 👍 Regards - Allan.
Yes it certainly does bring back many memories Jeff. Very nostalgic scenes indeed. The Peak was in superb condition. Thanks for watching. Cheers - Allan.
Another Peaky blinder, Allan. Loved the low angle shots. And, so good to see so many youngsters gathering to do some railfanning, (and no sign of that odd fellow that used to stalk you at NCL Central). 🤣
Thank you very much for watching Allan. Nice to see a Peak back in Toon after 40 odd years and to see the enthusiasm for it from all generations. It looks like I have shaken off that Stalker lol. Cheers - Allan. :-)
Great to see her Allan and in such perfect working condition, they have done a great job of her, didnt have a chance if catching her as i was working. Superb shots and close ups, a great capture of her in all her glory, cheers Nick.
Thanks very much Nick. I've been looking forward to seeing this tour for ages. What memories it brought back for me from my early days as a rail enthusiast. Hope you have a great weekend (and City win for you course). Cheers - Allan. :-)
Spot on Allan, nicely capturing the Peak at a busy Central Station, looking a picture indeed and nice to see another classic diesel on the mainline, cheers nige
This is a rail tour I didn't want to miss. 40 odd years since I seen a Peak at Newcastle Central so lots of nostalgia mixed in today. Thanks for viewing Nige. Cheers - Allan. :-)
It is my pleasure Mike. So many memories came flooding back to my younger days of the 60s/70s when these locos were regulars on Liverpool trains and other services out of Newcastle. Thanks for viewing. Cheers - Allan. :-)
I really did enjoy seeing the Peak. I was going to go to platform 2 where you stood to catch it but changed my mind when I seen nothing was due in at platform 3. Thanks for watching. Cheers - Allan.
An outstanding video Allan!! Great to see a peak up here for once. Unfortunately I could only see the return as school clashed in still really good to see!! Cheers Harry.
Many thanks for your comments Julian. I went on my knees for some shots and at my age that can be a problem getting back up again but I managed it today thankfully :-) Regards - Allan. 👍
@allan5919 You're very welcome. As regards getting up off your knees, I, at the age of 56, also have this difficulty. But the Peaks played a large part of hauling trains through Cheltenham in my early teens. So I would have done the same as you should an opportunity arise. 👍
Amazing locomotive! Great!
Thank you very much for watching the video.
Cheers - Allan. :-)
Takes me back to the 70s standing on that platform watching Deltics etc, but that 45 is like brand new. Great video mate👍
They were great days seeing the Peaks, Deltics and class 40s in their heyday at the Central. Thanks very much for watching. Cheers - Allan. 🙂
Agree - when a Deltic failed at Edinburgh one of these was rostered for the Flying Scotsman, around 1972.
First peak to Newcastle since 1984 which is well over 40 years
Yes that's right. Good to see this loco again. They were regulars at Newcastle. Thanks for watching Scott.

Loved the angles you used in your shots so as not to photo-bomb the others and vice-versa. Very innovative 👍
Many thanks for your comments Julian. I went on my knees for some shots and at my age that can be a problem getting back up again but I managed it today thankfully :-)
