Thanks for your help , I followed your technique rather than trying to play superman with the spring and it worked perfectly. I neatly cut the rear part of the existing guard off , repainted it and you cannot tell its been altered looking at it.
The 2017 UK centre stand parts I fitted to 2019 Cafe weighed only 3lbs. Hardly significant really but elsewhere I think a higher weight has been mentioned.
I installed the stock center stand on my Cafe, and I find it difficult to use. The narrowness of the stand, the lowness of the bike, the stiffness of the spring, and stretch to the leverage points (handlebar and seat rail) make it very hard for me to rock this bike back onto the stand, and I’m 5-9/225lbs. In fact, I have to get my son to help me. I’ve owned other bikes with center stands, and never had an issue (including, ironically, a 1966 BSA 650 twin). Once the KAWA is up on the stand, it’s fine. But getting it there is a you-know-what.
@@mikelaputt Yeah, they needed to design more leverage into it somehow, wider feet, longer lever, something. Fortunately, my kid lives nearby 👍. Thanks for the video, it contained all the info I needed to do the job. Though I did choose to bob the boot guard instead of the stand.
I owned a 2019 W800 Street and i mount a used center stand from an older W650 model. It fit‘s perfekt and it is cheaper. You can also mount a center stand from an older W800 model but you must remove the heat protection as shown in the video
Wow, this is surprising! Mind giving more details? Does 650 center stand contact the rubber damper perfectly? Does it extrude too much and limit the lean angle? If the answer is yes and no, then this truly is amazing!
@@machienli4947 the 800 and 650 share many parts. You will need to verify if it takes the same center stand. You will drag pegs then the pipe then run out of tire contact patch before the center stand makes contact with the ground. The rubber damper must make solid contact with the stand. If it doesn’t, it was installed wrong or you have a wrong part.
Ah, I checked out Partzilla and compared the parts. The center stand looks almost the same and they use (maybe) same lock nuts. Bolts have same diameter but I am not sure about their lengths. I guess they should be interchangeable. Thanks!
@@machienli4947 As i wrote it, the center stand from a W650 fits perfect. But i only can say this for my 2019 W800 Street. The bolts, the spring, everything fits correct. There was no need for additional work. If you use a center stand from a 2011 W800 (for example) you must remove and adjust the heat protection as shown in the video. That‘s all, but both parts are original from Kawasaki. And the rubber damper is in the right position
The center stand is tucked in deep within the bike’s centerline. Pegs will drag first. I did not experience any situation where the stand affected my lean angle.
I did. I found on Amazon a "Rollerstand" which is a small platform with 2 rollers that allow the wheel to turn. It is not as good as a centerstand, because the wheel doesn't turn very easily, but it gets the job done. The chain is hard to access on the W800 Cafe! I couldn't find the centerstand at a reasonable cost here in Canada.

I pulled the part numbers from a 2019 Kawasaki W800 Street. Part numbers are listed in the description or you can pause the video and copy the part number.
This can be a useful addition for cleaning wheels and chain. If you want it for checking oil level, you can buy an extendable mechanic's mirror ($20 or less) and sit on the bike and hold the bike upright. This works like a charm, you get a good view of the oil window.
Initially, I said to myself “Why would I to buy a $20 mirror just to check the oil level?”. Then I realized I have certain tools that I just use for one specific purpose. I have a $40 oil wrench that I use for this bike alone. I use a $2500 camera rig just for video conferencing. I decided to buy a telescoping mirror. Works like a charm.
Thanks for posting the video. I've now ordered the parts for my W800 Street coming this week : )

That darn spring was so problematic even for me. Glad the video helped.

You are not alone. I have difficulty getting the bike on the stand. I’m thinking it’s where the pivot point is.

I suspected that parts from older models would work. Thanks for confirming. 👍🏻

@@mikelaputt -san,
Thank you for your reply. It was helpful.
Is there any way of lifting the rear wheel to maintain the chain without the centerstand?
Did you find a way to do this? I did not explore any other avenues because I knew I would be using the center stand a lot.

What year w800 street center stand is compatible with the cafe version? Thanks

I took a pic recently and posted on Google Maps. Here is what the center stand looks like on the bike: bit.ly/3aorhHO
wondering if the normal w800 has a different shield for the foot peg? found it 34003A for normal foot peg and shield! the Cafe has 34003?
The W800 Street left foot peg is different. It does not have the “U” shaped shield like the Cafe version has.
Yes I just checked the parts diagrams didn't look at the Street version, just the Cafe and Normal 2020 w800

@@mikelaputt That's great to here, it's a simple solution that works from one bike to another as long as the bike has an oil sight window.
Will the center stand fit the w650?
Not this specific part number since it was slated for the 2020 W800. What year is your W650?
@@mikelaputt it's a 2000
