Nice fade bro.. I started cutting my hair 3 years ago, I found that an open guard zero to start the line for the fade works best, to fade in the line easier. For tapers it's better closed guard since it's easier to fade that small area.
Great fade but go from closed to open after you have your guide line set. It works better for 2 reasons. You get a better cut with it closed and You reset your bottom guide line it works so much better to make the fade blend. doesn’t make sense to go half then closed you’ll just create another line you’ll have to work harder to get rid of

I almost always end up going higher than planned when I blend the lines, for my own self haircuts. I don’t know how it happens really, but it does pretty much every time 🤷
On the 1 guard I notice a lot of people close it to make the second guide line instead of having it open does that work as well? what’s the difference?
