MY GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!! I thought Lea did a great job but Regine lifted this song to new heights!!!!! Sincerity, delicacy, and the power of her voice is what makes her version, I think, one of the, if not the best.
Bakit cinocompare kay Lea? What sets Regine apart from every artist in the Philippines is her ability to own a song, which is what she did with this one. Obviously she's a POP SINGER so expected na ng audience niya na different take on broadway songs. She's a risk taker, not afraid to go out of her box which is why I think she lasted this long in the industry! REGINE is REGINE. Wala mang Tony award she is a LIVING LEGEND in the Philippine Music Industry. Hindi lang iisa ang achievement na ipinagmamalaki.
I agree with everything you said except that she's a pop singer. RV's foundation is pop however she was not limited to it in fact she have worked with Legrand and Schonberg who both are broadway masters and harbored praises and respect from them. Her Soprano Coloratora voice have opened her boundaries into different genres proving her superb capabilities as a vocalist. It only happens that she focused more on Pop. Had she started training broadway in the beginning of her career she would have been also as great as a broadway singer as Lea or even surpass her. btw im a huge fan of your works and we owe so much to you uploading one of RV's timeless greatest performances Sometime Somewhere. I remember cinut yun sa abs cbn special. But I think it was only shown through tfc if im not mistaken. Laki nga ng dissapointment namin nun.
Ive heard this song a million times... Lea indeed mastered this piece. But hell, this version gave this song such flavor thats so refreshing to the ears. Moved circles away to the traditional monotonous way of singing this piece. Genius. Ps. That last note was glooooooorious

In my honest opinion these are the type of songs I like hearing from her, which reminds me a lot of her "songbird sings legrand" concert that I died for. It changed the landscape of broadway sound that I'm bored with. Only her can give that melodic frills and vocal control that is so tasteful and sophisticated.
Yung placement nya ng mga kanta sa concert na ito, same halos ng sa LeGrande concert. Mas nagustuhan ko lang dito kasi lumalim boses nya. At gumanda lalo quality ng vibrato nya. Sana maulit ang legrande nya pati ito!

In fairness, Regine don't try to be sound Lea though Lea's rendition is the standard. She creates a new rendition with taste of sophistication. Well, to be a broadway singer, it does not take one day to mastered this kind of genre, I agreed when Regine said that this is not her comfort zone but she have guts to face it. Regine creates this rendition like "Sometime, Somewhere" . She sings and deliver it the way how really a Songbird sing.
She truly is the QUEEN. She can sing anything ---and would always put her signature mark once a song is sung. Fearless. Other singers are truly capable of singing… but the Song Bird delivers.
It's not like there aren't any veteran performers to learn from. They're all over RUclips, plus I'm sure she has friends who could hook her up with musical theater performers in the Philippines. Her disastrous performance could have been totally avoided.
